Re: Drew Murray Returns To Insomniac After Leaving Xbox Studio The Initiative

SpacemanJupiter

Could be that there is so much 'high ranking' talent at The Initiative that there is bound to be power struggles and not everyone can be the director or lead designer, etc.. Some may feel they've taken a lesser role than their last job after being around so many other talented people on the same level. I'm sure he's great at what he does but I honestly don't feel like a Sunset Overdrive/Ratchet & Clank dev is a great loss for the kind of game they are trying to make.

Re: Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Is Having Another Free Access Week

SpacemanJupiter

Me and some friends enjoyed playing bot matches the last time there was a trial. We'll do the same thing this time if it's available, but I probably won't buy the game. Now that there is good indication that the next COD game is WWII, I'll just wait for that one. COD WWII is probably the favorite of me and my friends and we still play it. Can't be bothered with COD games every single year so we are waiting for 'COD WWII 2'.

Re: Halo Infinite For Xbox Series X: Everything You Need To Know

SpacemanJupiter

@jaydubs I think they should update all other Brutes in the game with enhanced models and visuals except for that one single character. They should make it an easter egg. Where will Craig show up, and who will find him first? They should even leave the helmet on and require it to be knocked off somehow to see if you won the Craig lottery.

Re: GTA V For Xbox Series X: Everything We Know So Far

SpacemanJupiter

I keep hearing about enhancements for the console but what does that mean? Are they bringing it up to PC level? Or, are these enhancements also coming to PC? I started off with the PS4 version and went PC as soon as it was Available. I still play it often online and have always loved it. Now days you do get modders in almost every server but it doesn't matter because you can easily 'glitch' the game into an empty server with only your friends. It's great having the whole map to yourself with your friends. I'm honestly in no hurry for GTA6 to get here. I know it's being worked on and that's good enough for me at the moment. I still have a LOT to do in GTA online and RDR2 online, even after all these years.

Re: Anime Rail Shooter Gal Gun Returns Cancelled For Xbox One

SpacemanJupiter

I'm glad this garbage has been cancelled for the Xbox. Leave crap like this to the Japanese market where they relish sexualized 12 year olds with tiddies. I was obsessed with anime when I was in high school but over time I realized how sickening much of it was and they don't even try to hide it. Now it's also in so many games and it's just a huge turn off to see characters that look 10 years old (or younger!) but are sexualized to the max. Seriously, what does anyone see in this type of thing that could be justified? I don't care that the age of consent is like 13 in Japan, that in itself is extremely focked up to say the least. Just seeing all the samey cookie cutter anime 'artwork' is a huge turn off for me now days.

Re: Here Are Some Xbox Series X|S Issues You Might Run Into At Launch

SpacemanJupiter

I haven't experienced any of this, but I do have an Xcloud issue. I have a galaxy note 8 and whether i use gamepass or gamepass beta app, both will only run at 1 frame per second (or maybe less). That includes the UI. Haven't even been able to get into a game yet. I'm connecting an Xbox One controller via bt. Reinstalling the apps and rebooting the phone didn't help. I would love to test out Xcloud while i'm in bed at night and just bought a phone mount for my controller so I'm pretty disappointed that the app isn't working.

Re: Talking Point: Which Back Compat Games Have Been Improved The Most By The Xbox Series X?

SpacemanJupiter

I have never really used BC until this past week. I was shocked to see how good Gears of War 3 looked at high res. Wish it would also get a 60 fps update as well. I was also shocked at how good the original Perfect Dark looked with hi res and 60 fps. Was that game remastered or something? Or is it using the same assets from the N64? I never got to play it on the N64.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your First Impressions Of The Xbox Series X|S?

SpacemanJupiter

Got mine at noon today. Connected to a 1440p monitor and everything is smooth so far. Not a pixel to be seen in Gears 5. Gears 5, Halo 5, and Halo MCC downloaded really fast but the rest of the games hit server overload and went very slow. Those are the only games I've played so far. Dashboard is instant with controller actions, impressive. Remote play worked nicely. I was at Qdoba waiting for a burrito and played some Xbox on my old iPhone 8 Plus LOL. GREAT!

Re: Halo Infinite Director Chris Lee Departs The Project

SpacemanJupiter

This is good news. Out with the old, in with the new (people that can get the job done better). Plus the director's job is pretty much done as the bulk of the game is obviously complete if they initially planned on launching it next month. I will not be surprised if we see an article like this for Bonnie Ross soon. With new people like Joseph Staten coming in we will only see better results with this game as time goes.

Re: Guide: All Of These Games Will Support 120FPS On Xbox Series X

SpacemanJupiter

@Thretosix I think 60 fps is the sweet middle spot for console games. RT will pull fps down to 30 and isn't worth it unless it is used properly, such as for really good global illumination, not just reflections. 120 is great for MP but will sacrifice visuals and doesn't make sense for single player or co op. 4k@60 w/o RT will bring good visuals and frame rate both. RT won't be missed unless it truly and significantly changes the whole visual landscape. I have yet to see that happen yet with real time RT except for maybe Minecraft.

Re: Microsoft: We Know People Want To See More Xbox Series X Gameplay

SpacemanJupiter

I'm not super impressed with anything I've seen so far, including Demon's Souls. It's easy to go all out on graphics when you have the whole game mapped out for you already with level design, mechanics, and gameplay based on a PS3 game from 11 years ago. I'm actually not that impressed with the graphics either.

I am perfectly fine playing a lot of present gen games on the XSX. That's why I'm buying it, actually. I know there isn't much from either console at launch but I have lots of games that I haven't finished yet, some I haven't even started playing. I'm perfectly happy working on finishing those games for a while and happily waiting for upcoming games down the road. Most of the games are going to perform better as well so I can't complain.

Re: What's All This About The Xbox Series X Running Hot?

SpacemanJupiter

I think a good rule of thumb is probably going to be about 6 inches of clearance for the top vent. I think there is a very porous vent at the bottom rear of the machine as well to pull in air. As far as I can see there are no vents on the very bottom so maybe you can actually have it sitting on a carpet floor, but I'm not sure.

The only heat exhaust is the top vent as far as I know, so naturally that is going to be very warm. That's a very decent CPU and 12 Tflop GPU stuffed in there. It's going to get warm. As long as the actual case doesn't feel like it's going to melt, I'm sure it's perfectly fine.

Re: Phil Spencer: We're Years Away From 8K Being Standard In Games

SpacemanJupiter

The first 8K/60 XSX game is already here. Falconeer. Granted, not too graphically demanding but it's a real thing already. 3090 is doing 8K/60 on well optimized games. I didn't think this would happen until 2 or 3 years from now, but it's here.

Next next gen will probably have a good number of games running at 8K, but 4K will probably still be the standard during the gen after next gen.
