Re: Reaction: Xbox Needs To Do Something About Its User Review System

SpacemanJupiter

I seriously feel like a lot of butthurt gamers out there realize you can take advantage of this review system and ruin ratings quite easily for any game. There are some really great games on the Xbox but somehow they don't get very good reviews. I don't think I've ever seen a game get great ratings on this review system, and if you take a look, there are lots of bogus reviews on just about every game. It's a problem. They need a system like Steam has.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V Will Seemingly Run At 4K, 60FPS On Xbox Series X

SpacemanJupiter

I'm really hoping for some enhancements that no platform currently has, including the PC. I don't want this to simply be like playing the game on a PC at 60fps. I'd like to see lighting improvements, texture, updated character models, etc.. No reason why some of these things can't be improved and still run it at a dynamic 4K/60 on consoles.

Re: Random: The Ascent Looks Surprisingly Breathtaking In First-Person

SpacemanJupiter

It's incredible the amount of detail that went into what is essentially a twin stick shooter. There is detail in this vid that you never even see or notice in the game because of the camera. The game looks like a pre rendered game looked just a few years ago, but this is running in real time. I'm really impressed with what a 12 person team did, and on top of it all, it's actually really fun. Especially with a couple of buddies. It gets really intense.

Re: Everything You Need To Know About Back 4 Blood On Xbox Game Pass

SpacemanJupiter

I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead back in the day with my friends. Today I have noticed that on sites populated with Sony loyalists they are posting scathing remarks about the game, calling it 'gamepass filler garbage', 'cheap Chinese mobile gaming trash', among other things. Apparently none of them are old enough to have played the original Left 4 Dead games back in the day. I think they were great.

Re: Interview: Our Cutting-Edge Chat With The Lead Producer Of Lawn Mowing Simulator

SpacemanJupiter

@GrafUlrich88 I've heard MS offers for Game Pass can be quite handsome. Give the dev a large chunk of money up front to guarantee a certain amount of success. Dev gets paid well, more gamers play the game and spread the word. Game leaves game pass down the road, players then pay for the game and continue feeding sales to the dev. It's quite simple and a lot of devs seem to be happy with the deals.

Re: Xbox Developers Now Need To Pay For Unity, But It's 'Free' With PlayStation & Nintendo

SpacemanJupiter

I don't understand why people choose Unity over UE anyway. UE gives you everything you need out of the box. Blueprints. It's easier to get visually impressive results. It performs better. It's cheap for indies unless you make bank on your game, which would be life changing anyway.

Almost every Unity game I own, I can tell it's a Unity game by looking at it. I can also tell by the stuttering I usually get as well. Simple Unity based indie games shouldn't be stuttering on 2080ti's, but I've seen it too often.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator Is Now Metacritic's Best Xbox Game Of 2021

SpacemanJupiter

@SplooshDmg I still have my PS5 but it's a distant 3rd behind my PC and Xbox when it comes to play time. I have both Spiderman games but they just don't hold my attention for too long. Neither does R&C RA. Played that for an hour and haven't been in there since. Demon's Souls is a fun challenge but it's in the same boat, just doesn't hold my attention for too long considering it's basically an 11 year old PS3 game with a new skin. Most of the games that keep my attention are games that have single player, online co op, and MP (most of the top tier Xbox games). Those games give me a reason to come back every week and I also get to play with friends. Me and my small group of 40/50 somethings love to game together and the Xbox games provide the perfect environment for that, along with 3rd party games like Battlefield, Battlefront, Far Cry, Outriders, etc..

Honestly the games I was looking forward to the most for Playstation may never come to the PS5. Uncharted 5, and Killzone 5. I bought a PS5 in hopes I'll see them down the road but right now it's sitting and collecting dust.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator Is Now Metacritic's Best Xbox Game Of 2021

SpacemanJupiter

I see a lot of people saying 'i can't see myself playing this game for more than a few minutes', but every time I play the game I cannot leave it for hours. I fly, and then see something near the horizon and say ooooh, I gotta see what that is. Or, I wonder what's over these hills or mountains here. What's over there? What is that? I'm going there.

I'm always afraid I'll miss something cool, and I probably do every time I quit playing the game. This game is so easy to set up and just start flying or just put it on cruise control and enjoy the scenery, it's addictive. All the options and menus looked incredibly intimidating at first, but I only had to change 1 or 2 things and just jumped in. Such an incredible experience, it's probably technically the most advanced game to ever run on a console, and right now it's the most beautiful as well. RDR2 is still right there beside it though.

Re: Phil Spencer Praises PS5 DualSense, Says There's More Work To Do With The Xbox Controller

SpacemanJupiter

I have a PS5 and DualSense is overrated imo. More than that, it was downright annoying in R&C, and Astro's Playroom. It rumbles literally every second of gameplay, and doesn't sync up properly part of the time. For example, every single step Ratchet takes you get feedback, and sometimes he'll step with his left foot but you'll get feedback on the right side instead. At the very least I had to tone it down, and may just turn it off completely like I usually do on other platforms and controllers. It's an unnecessary gimmick that I will not miss, and runs the battery down fast. It's as bad as the useless track pad and 6 axis, neither of which I used even once from 2013 to the present with my PS4.

Re: Better Make Room, Stalker 2 Will Be 150GB On Xbox Series X

SpacemanJupiter

It’s good I decided to pick up the expansion card a while back but they do need to lower the price of that card. I don’t mind if games are 150 gig if they all looked as good as this game. It’s going to happen at some point but storage prices need to come down if that’s the case.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About Cross-Gen Games?

SpacemanJupiter

Cross gen is to be expected. All this talk about it is partly Sony's fault for selling 115 million PS4's. It would be ludicrous to develop a game and not hit that user base. You'd be denying yourself of a jackpot just because of new hardware. Hardware advances each new generation are in diminishing returns right now. This new generation is nowhere near the huge leaps we got from 8 bit to 16 bit, Sega Genesis to PS1/N64, N64 to Xbox/PS2, PS2 to PS3. Since then we have had fairly modest advances, not leaps.

Anyone who thinks this new gen is going to introduce anything revolutionary other than loading times or streaming benefits is kidding themselves. The GPU's are only twice as powerful, a far cry from 5 to 10 times advancements we got in the past. All the real advancements this gen are going to come from software, such as UE5, not hardware. Cross gen makes the most sense and they will continue to do it until the new generation's user base is sufficiently large to make decent money.

If no console last gen had sold more than 50 million units I'd say they would be pushing next gen a lot harder right now, but it's impossible to ignore a 115 million base and with hardware advancements that are in diminishing returns, nowhere near the leaps we used to get.

I consider myself lucky to have grown up with all this and seen every single generation and the advancements that came after each one ended. Younger people don't understand that we just don't get those leaps and bounds anymore out of new hardware. It will never happen again until a paradigm shift in hardware happens in the future. That could be decades from now. Every new generation from this point forward is going to be cross gen for the first half of it. We may have to come up with some new terminology because 'Next Gen' is losing its meaning more and more with diminishing returns on hardware and as time goes.

Re: Production On Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Appears To Be Underway

SpacemanJupiter

I am hoping for a 3rd person action/adventure with some occasional but great gun play, traps, and some interesting puzzles to solve, and above all, exploration. Let us explore and find treasures.

This could feel a bit like Uncharted but with somewhat different gameplay mechanics and a different mixture and balance of gameplay elements compared to UC.

I've been hoping for UC5 but I've come to realize that the Uncharted series is dead. There's Tomb Raider, a great series, and now that no longer has any competition. Xbox needs a great single player 3rd person exclusive. UC is gone. A good Indiana Jones game can fill the role with more exploration, more traps and puzzles to solve, less but better gun play, similarly fantastic animation, cinematic UE5 realism, and a realistic close combat system that is fun. I'd love for the combat system to be physics/AI based (remember Euphoria?).

Re: Gears 5 Will Now Be Forcing Cross-Play Between Xbox & PC Players

SpacemanJupiter

Makes no difference to me. As far as cheating goes I PC game 80% of my time and don't run into cheaters very often. The last time was one person in RDR2 last weekend, and I can't remember the last time before that. It's very occasional and I play a LOT of games on the PC every week, most of them MP or online co op. I really question others that claim to see cheaters on the PC constantly.

As far as k/m advantage, my little brother is so good on the Xbox controller that he competes very well online against k/m players. He's predominantly a PC player but still prefers the controller on EVERYTHING multiplayer. I just don't feel that bad for console players. Either you are great with a controller, great with a k/m, or great at neither one. This is no one's fault, just something you need to deal with in MP. Since Xbox controller players will be playing against other Xbox players on k/m there is no reason to not include PC.

Re: 343 Has 'No Plans' To Add Bots To Halo: MCC Right Now

SpacemanJupiter

Bots are very important for any MP game regarding its longevity. There are plenty of games that I buy years after release and it can be very frustrating when the established user base is just way, way ahead of you in abilities, map familiarity (that's a big one), items and weapons access, etc.. That certainly doesn't hold me back from jumping in, but I have two close (and still fairly noobish) friends that just aren't as confident or good out of the gate when it comes to MP gaming. I try to show them the ropes of MP gaming with bots. If I consider buying a MP game I have to consider whether it has bots or not because my friends will refuse to play unless they have a way to learn the game without getting completely frustrated and discouraged. I don't blame them. Bots were a regular thing in games of the past. Now devs are just too lazy or release date constraints influenced by investors or publishers make it not possible to add to the mix. I still love the games but I really hate the industry and how it works now days.

There's a game on Steam called Day of War that reminded me a lot of MOH:AA multiplayer from back in the day so I was excited to see it re-released with new maps and gameplay. It died a quick death for some reason and now you see no one playing it. If they had added bots to the mix the game could have stood on those legs until marketing or word of mouth pulled people in. Bots or not, if people see 'players' in servers they are going to jump in. I feel like anytime a MP game releases without bots it's potentially a huge, huge mistake. If I ever develop an indie game with MP it will never get released until I find a way to have bots in there on day one.

Re: Early Impressions: We Take The Xbox Wireless Headset For A Road Test

SpacemanJupiter

@GamingFan4Lyf Well I have a wired headset, Status Audio CB1, on Amazon for like 60 to 80 dollars but don't let the price fool you. Read the reviews and you'll find out they sound as good as a 400 dollar studio headset, and they do sound fantastic. The sound is very balanced overall so you won't get a lot of bass by default, but don't let that fool you either. They can handle a lot of bass and it sounds great. You do have to get a mic for it. The one I got was around 30 bucks and fits, sounds great, but sometimes it pulls out easily. The headset doesn't come with a mic. Atmos works great for both headsets.

The Penrose X is completely wireless but they claim lossless. It has an aux port, studio quality mic, fantastic sound quality, and a really nice design. Planar driver (100mm), great frequency range (greater than 20-20000)Wireless compat with Xbox and PC. Dual Wireless + bluetooth. Penrose X is what I use majority of the time on my PC. I may leave the Xbox headset for my Xbox. However, there are still bugs with this headset that many people may not want to deal with. I chose to deal with them until they patch things up with updates. Connection problems, range issues, etc..

Re: Early Impressions: We Take The Xbox Wireless Headset For A Road Test

SpacemanJupiter

Been using mine for about a day. I don't have the Xbox wireless adapter for PC so I have to use it wired on there. It's very light, probably the lightest headset I have owned. The sound is good, maybe not as good as my 300 dollar Penrose X but it's good, and absolutely fine. The bass is way more than anyone will need. It can handle a LOT of bass, but the bass band can also be turned down via the equalizer to very low levels. Build quality seems to be good. Listening to all types of music was good. Listening to music while playing Battlefield 5 with booming explosions and grenades going off was good. The microphone is good, not studio quality. It doesn't need to be. One thing I never understand is people wanting studio quality mics on a gaming headset. It's pointless. As long as your voice is clearly heard and the quality is good enough, nothing more needed. If you aren't recording youtube videos or creating studio quality sounds then it's pointless having a studio quality mic, and you shouldn't be doing those things with a gaming headset in the first place. The dual wireless/bluetooth option is great, although I don't know if that works on the PC with the wireless dongle yet. The ear cup wheels work nicely. The design is minimal and appealing, not at all tacky. I can use it wired on my PC with USB-C. Connected to my iPhone just fine via BT. Everything about it is good, not 300 dollar good, but very good for the price range. If my Penrose X and other studio quality wired headset crapped out on me I'd be perfectly fine and content using these as an every day headset for Xbox and PC, and gaming. I'm glad I bought them, as I'm very picky about headsets and have returned plenty of brand name PC/Xbox headsets that everyone said was great, but really weren't. Sorry for no paragraphs. I'm tired but wanted to say something about the headset before passing out.

Re: Xbox Virtual Reality Reference Is A 'Localisation Bug', Says Microsoft

SpacemanJupiter

Didn't MS have a hand in creating the HP Reverb G2? They already have some experience it seems. I won't be surprised of VR comes to the Xbox.

I bought an Oculus Quest 2 last week but returned it today. I researched everything I could possibly try but the optics were absolutely terrible. It was the blurriest, fuzziest display I've ever seen. Kinda like watching those old tvs with sub 720p res and scanlines. Very bad contrast and brightness as well. Maybe it was defective, but the VR experiences themselves were just amazing. I'm now researching the Reverb G2 and Valve Index.

Re: Hell Let Loose Brings Epic 50v50 Battles To Xbox Series X This Year

SpacemanJupiter

I love this game. It is constantly improving, even visually. This game looks a LOT better running on my PC than it does these videos. It's a beautiful game. More of a sim than BF, methodical, lots of voice chat from commanders that really know how to play the game and direct soldiers, definitely some traveling on foot, strategy, teamwork, etc..
