Microsoft's Next First-Party Release Officially Launches On Xbox Game Pass This April

We have a new Xbox Game Studios launch date! Kiln, from the fine folks over at Double Fine Productions, officially releases for Xbox, PS5 and PC on April 23rd, 2026 - including on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Early playtests are also planned, but we're not 100% sure on the specific platforms for those just yet; the team has simply shared a sign-up page for now. We do know that a Steam open beta will follow from April 9-11 though, so we'd assume that all of Kiln's testing is limited to PC at this time.

Here's the lowdown on what to expect from Kiln next month:

"In Kiln, you shape a small, medium, or large ball of clay into a vessel on a pottery wheel with surprisingly intuitive controls. Decorate with various glazes and cosmetic attachments (all for style), and you’re good to go. The matches comprise two teams of four pots competing to gather water and quench the other team’s kiln three times before the same is done to theirs, breaking enemy pots along the way in chaotic brawls."

As for those of you who won't access this one via Xbox Game Pass, pricing details on Kiln have also been shared. The base game will cost $19.99, the Fired Up edition will set you back $29.99, and pre-orders will go live during the open beta period in early April.

Here's what's included in the Kiln Fired Up edition:

"The Fired Up edition includes the base game as well as premium glazes, stickers, attachments, custom pots, and bonus chips (customization-unlocking currency that can only be earned through playing the game)."

You can take a look at our previous coverage on Kiln down below - then yep, it's just about a month until we can all play Double Fine's latest effort on console and PC!
