Re: With A 'PS5 Pro' Now Rumoured For 2024, Where Does That Leave Xbox?

SpacemanJupiter

DF just shot down all the PS5 Pro fanbois by stating GTA6 most likely will not run at 60 fps on the Pro. I mean, that's a real kick in the balls if it turns out to be true. GTA6 is going to be THE measure of any new console's worth. If it can't run at 60 fps, what in the world is the point of new hardware? The CPU bottleneck is still huge with only a 10 percent uplift if you choose to even use that mode for the CPU.

Imagine GTA6 running at the same frame rate on the Pro as the Series X. We all know Rockstar don't cater to hardware so they certainly aren't going to add extra features for the Pro's GPU. It may run at a higher res but probably won't look much different at all in that case.

Then a new Xbox possibly shows up in 2026 and will almost certainly run GTA6 at 60 fps. Interesting times.

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

SpacemanJupiter

This will probably be a lot of unfortunate news for Xbox fans but it certainly would be epic and hilarious if this was all a stunt, fake leaks hinting at Xbox's demise, and Phil comes on with his head down and says...

'Well we're here today to address some rumors. The future of Xbox is certainly changing... from this point forward, aside from COD all future Xbox studios games will be exclusive to Xbox! Also, we have an Xbox handheld and VR coming alongside a next generation Xbox in 2026 powered by Intel/Nvidia with advanced RT features and... World of Warcraft is coming to Xbox and all WoW subs will be converted to GamePass Ultimate! The future of Xbox is bright.'

Sigh..

Re: 'A Few Things' Appear To Be In The Works For Halo 4's 10th Anniversary

SpacemanJupiter

I've been playing Halo since 2001 and Halo 4 is definitely one of my favorites in the series. I loved the game mechanics and smoother analog stick controls, the visuals were some of the very best of that generation, loved the artwork, music, sound effects, and design. Some of the best artists around did some great work on that game and I am still more impressed with the work done on Halo 4 than with 5 or Infinite. I never did get to play much of the multiplayer though, so I can't remember how good or bad it was.

Re: 343 Outlines Halo Infinite's Match XP Beta & Overhauled Progression System

SpacemanJupiter

I haven't even worked towards anything at all in this game yet. I don't even know what rank I am or what my progression is. Me and some friends have just been playing MP once on the weekend as a warmup for other games on our game night. We haven't even played campaign yet lol.

I guess now is the right time to start tracking and working towards progression in the game. It's going to feel completely fresh to us other than wanting a few more maps. But that's what Forge is for. I'll take a crack at it and try to remake one of my favorite maps from a favorite game back in the day, RTCW.

Re: Bonnie Ross, The Head Of Halo, Is Leaving 343 Industries And Microsoft

SpacemanJupiter

I actually loved Halo 4. The campaign was great, visual style and technically looked great, fun co op and Spartan Ops was a great addition. I wasn't as fond of Halo 5. A step down in visuals from catering to low powered hardware and the whole team thing doesn't work with MC like it did in Reach. Infinite has been great for me so far. I only play MP on the weekends and have plenty of ranks to go, and still haven't played the campaign yet. The big problems for me were that the game should have been 100 percent complete by the time it released after a year delay, with all features. It also should have been a visual tour de force like Halo CE was back in the day.

People are getting their hopes up that Bonnie was the cause of all Halo's problems. Hate to break it to you, but her leaving most likely isn't going to magically fix anything.

Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Hurting Right Now, But Larger Forces Are At Play

SpacemanJupiter

There is too much on Game Pass for me and my friends to get through. We still have most of Horizon 5 to get through, haven't even gone through the Halo Infinite campaign at all because we are waiting for the co op update, have played the great MP off and on but still have most of that to rank up through, have hardly scratched the surface of Flight Sim, still have most of Sea of Thieves content to get through, still haven't gotten through all of MCC content, and still have tons of other games on Game Pass we haven't even touched yet.

Why?

Because we don't just play Xbox. We have a lot of games that we play and our time is split between them all. We are true gamers, play tons of games, and it takes us a lot of time to get through them all. We like it that way because we are never able to exhaust content too quickly. We never get burned out on a game, and never blow through it too fast. We've yet to exhaust even games like Battlefront 2 and Battlefield 5. It's great! I feel sorry for people who only play 2 or 3 games and exhaust all of that content within just a few weeks. Put more games in your weekly rotation and don't play the same games day in and day out.

Re: Halo Infinite Engineer 'Amazed' At Forge Mode Feature

SpacemanJupiter

Super excited for this. I'm super lucky in that I didn't blow my load on this game in the first few weeks like many people did. I have MANY other games that I also spend time with, as do my friends. We play multiplayer for an hour or so on the weekend, among a large list of other games we also cycle through. We aren't even very far through rankings in MP yet and have a blast every time we play. On top of that, all three of us have yet to play the campaign. That's right, we are all waiting until the co op update comes, so even the campaign is completely new and fresh to us still. Now we get to look forward to Forge in a few months. For the patient ones, it's a damn good time to be a Halo fan.

Re: Xbox Accuses Sony Of 'Paying' To Block Games From Game Pass

SpacemanJupiter

So Sony is blocking content from coming to a service that I pay hard earned money for by paying these companies off? Yeah, that's dirty. Sony is trash and a bunch of big babies. The balls, after outselling the Xbox over 100% last gen, to complain. Trash. My PS5 has been sitting for months with no use. It just needs to kill itself now.

Re: Forza Motorsport's Ray Tracing Will Be 'On' During Gameplay, Not Just Replays & Photo Mode

SpacemanJupiter

They need to clarify more for the consoles. People are now spreading misinformation around that XSX won't have RT during gameplay because it was the PC version being shown. If XSX is going to have RT during gameplay, they really need to come out right now and clarify that is the plan. People are also spreading around the idea that RT will be limited to cars only.

I think the best scenario we can hope for on XSX is that RT will apply to cars and other surfaces such as water, run at 60fps, and a locked 1080p or dynamic 1440p. If they could hit all those I would be very impressed with the Xbox.

Re: Former Xbox Exec Questions Microsoft's Ability To Sell Xbox In Japan

SpacemanJupiter

Seriously, who f'king cares about Japan? No gamers care that Xbox doesn't sell well in Japan. Why even write articles about it? Japan is hardly even relevant anymore other than JRPGs, which many gamers have no desire for anymore. Game industry Japan from 20 year ago is not the same as today. Xbox doesn't need Japan. It shouldn't even be a talking point anymore. They can keep their silly off the wall (and weird) games. I don't even want them on the Xbox. Now I sound like nationalistic Japanese gamers ripping on Western gaming, haha. Some tides have turned a bit.

Re: Former Xbox Exec 'Scared' That Game Pass May Hurt Game Sales

SpacemanJupiter

But did it really destroy the music business? Less revenue for the industry as a whole, and less money for really big artists that made millions upon millions upon millions of dollars, but now that wealth has been distributed and trickled downward to people who would never otherwise have a chance of being discovered or getting their work out there. I cringe to think about all the incredible artists that we had in the early 2000's, 90s, and before, that never got the chance to have their work discovered because they didn't know the right people in Hollywood or they simply didn't have the money for production and distribution. Think about all the incredible music that we missed out on, some of it potentially as good as or better than any of the big artists from yesterday. Very sad to think about the incredible work we've missed out on from potentially great artists that were never given a chance to shine. Now they can. Sure, they probably get a one lump sum to have their work on Spotify and other services, but they can at least grow from that and at least have a chance to even see if there is an audience for their creative work.

It's the same with something like Game Pass. If it weren't for GP, some of these games would basically never see the light of day and may potentially earn nothing at all for all that work. Now they at least have a chance. It's not the best choice for everyone, but it's a very, very good choice for many that don't have big studios and publishers, a big name, or that don't know certain people to propel them forward. People seriously need to stop bitching about GP because it's simply another option. You CAN still buy games. You can buy any game that is on GP, and even for a discount. You don't have to sub GP, or Spotify, or Netflix, or any of it. Just make the choice not to and stop bitching about these services because there is someone out there that has given us an incredible experience at some point, and it was only made possible because of such services.

Re: Halo Infinite Is Apparently Getting A Gigantic Battle Royale Mode

SpacemanJupiter

Ah, so THIS is why there is a lack of content and co op to the core game. They've been wasting time and resources on a BR that no one wants except for a new, Halo-casual audience that knows almost nothing about Halo except for um, there's a green dude called Master Chief in it that kills aliens.

They have clearly bitten off more than they can chew rather than creating a complete, polished core experience FOR the actual long time Halo fans. SP campaign, MP, online co op, Forge, and now a BR. They've been secretly working on a BR this whole time while taking resources and devs away from the core experience. What do you want to bet that the BR aspect will end up being the most polished and fleshed out part of the game?

Is this why there is a huge, semi-open world map for the campaign? Were they planning this all along? Was the campaign map actually built around the idea of turning it into a BR with a few minor adjustments? Was the plan for a BR the reason why this game has been through dev hell up to this day? I've been defending the game wholeheartedly from naysayers up til now. Someone needs to get their priorities straight and give Halo fans the quality they expect out of this series.

Re: Damning Report Takes Aim At Xbox's State Of Decay 3 Studio

SpacemanJupiter

Sorry but I don't trust anything from Kotaku. I also don't trust most 20 somethings (especially early 20s) growing up in a soft world with tablet in one hand and phone in the other complaining and being depressed about every little thing in existence that doesn't feed their ego or keep them in a constant dopamine high, and those types are the people many of these game studios consist of. Also, MS isn't the only one that has had problems with studios. ND, anyone?

Everyone was complaining about MS potentially having too much hands on with these new studios and strangling their creative freedoms. Now everyone is bitching because they don't and it's still all MS's fault. That's just rich.

Re: 343 'Very Excited' To Unleash New Halo Infinite Multiplayer Content

SpacemanJupiter

I play this game very casually and occasionally at the moment but I really have a lot of fun each time I do. I don't pay attention to rankings or where I stand. I just enjoy the gameplay. Once co op becomes available will be about the time I really jump in deeper and try to progress. I take my sweet time with these games since I have so many to get through.

Re: Forza Motorsport 7 Is Already Being Compared To Gran Turismo 7

SpacemanJupiter

I am still thinking about getting GT7 but I am just not impressed with it. Great looking cars, but poor environments. Since you have to look at those environments over, and over again, that should have been a priority. They could have spent a little less time on the cars and they would still look great, and spent that time elsewhere to make the visuals more consistent. The environments look like crap, straight up. Would love to feel the gyro steering but the visuals will not keep my interest long. Not to mention the frame rate problems, occasional as it may be, and always online.

Re: Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Lead Has Left 343 Industries

SpacemanJupiter

Ya know, I don't really see the need in announcing to the world that you've left a company, especially in the world of gaming. It immediately becomes a controversial topic that always looks bad on the company. Although, considering the state of MP this actually looks really bad on the individual that left, especially if MP fixes start coming in soon that should have been there long ago. Dude probably got let go.

Re: Xbox's Aaron Greenberg Amazed That Recent Hellblade 2 Trailer Was Real Gameplay

SpacemanJupiter

I will take a guess here that the cinematic sequences in this game are simply interactive, unlike most games. You may have a bit of simplistic control of the character and scene, but certain things will play out automatically, such as camera work and events important to the sequence. I think this will be separate from normal gameplay, which will visually be the same, but with less cinematic camera work, events and animation.

So yeah, this was probably running in real time with a controllable character, but in a limited fashion compared to normal gameplay.
