Re: Xbox Says ‘Gatekeeping And Elitism’ Have No Place In Gaming

RavenWolfe81

Xbox is advocating helping people learn games and being positive about successes. It's like when playing multiplayer PvP, encourage new players and teach them instead of screaming that they suck. If you're having a bad game, don't blame your team, cheer the ones doing better than you on.

As for Dark Souls, imo, it's better to tell others it's a very beatable game if you learn animation and sound queues, memorize patterns, etc and point them to good tutorials. They aren't that difficult of games and you can make them easier for people to complete and enjoy instead of making them easier games. Just share the knowledge instead of gate-keeping just so you feel better about yourself.

Re: Xbox Fans Call Out 'Activision's Greed' Over Call Of Duty Digital Prices

RavenWolfe81

@XxEvilAshxX Those deep discounts aren't that good compared to PC sales and they're the same price on every console the game's on while usually happening at the same time. Yea, so competitive. Ubisoft competing with themselves, I'm sure they love that.

And Gamepass is nice but it's no more pro-consumer than Netflix with all the same faults. You pay every month/s and it adds up and you have to buy the games when they leave the service. Look at Rockstar putting their games on it and getting people buying dlc/mtx only to remove the game a few months later. Xbox is removing Forza. People will now have to buy them after already paying for however many months to have access.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West's Upgrade Path Has PS5 Buyers Wishing For Xbox's Smart Delivery

RavenWolfe81

@UltimateOtaku91 Buying again isn't in itself an issue, but skipping sequels to sell the old game again at full price with few changes or additions is why I think Nintendo are unbelievably greedy. Why not make Mario Kart 9 and sell 8 Deluxe on the side for a reasonable price for folks who missed 8?

Because they can't make the same amount of profit as on an already made game. It's not like MK 9 would sell less than 8 has. Sony is doing the same by porting these PS4 games to 5 they just release them at the same time.

Re: Saints Row Team: We Aren't Backing Down, But We Understand The 'Knee Jerk' Reaction

RavenWolfe81

I don't even get how people got so much detail about the game from this reveal, it's like they've played it but no. I mean it's a basic and derivative trailer but SR was that until part three and the general consensus on part four was "an expansion pack to three".

Just feels like a situation where people are angry about a mostly overrated clone franchise that got it right once and is still doing what it always did. Maybe this one gets it right again, maybe it's bad. Who can say yet?

Re: 343 Industries Talked About, But Decided Against Delaying Halo Infinite Past 2021

RavenWolfe81

The problem will be whether or not what's there justifies the price in the mind of mainstream people because multiplayer will be free.

See even if us core fans enjoy the campaign the mainstream narrative will be, "it's not enough", " game's early access even though they delayed it a year" etc. unless it's an amazing campaign that's 15-20 hours long. Or they plan to add new ones every year for free like Avengers gets.

Will it be more like Halo 3's campaign or 5's? If it's like 5, for $60 and that's all it ever is, it'll severely damage the series' reputation.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Gives His Initial Thoughts On Valve's Steam Deck

RavenWolfe81

Haha, he's just happy to not have to keep considering the fans who want a portable Xbox.

Given the specs, this will be more powerful than minimum requirements likely for any upcoming Xbox games on Steam for awhile, since this thing is more powerful than a One S. So, we'll be able to play Halo, Forza, Gears, Sony games like Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn and emulate a game like BotW all on one device.

I don't think people realize how broken this will make things, lol.

Re: Valve's New Steam Deck Can Be Used As A Handheld Xbox

RavenWolfe81

I've got like 1000 Steam games but recently sold most of my pc gaming hardware due to the ridiculous value of used parts, and because I'm tired of big rigs, maintenance of them and the heat/power usage. My plan was to just game on Series S until someone did a handheld pc right. Well, I'm reserving one today. Can't wait to play games like MCC, Gears 5 and Sekiro natively on a portable.

If you're not heavy into pc gaming and the Steam ecosystem, and been watching handheld pcs progress then this value might not be so clear but this is the dream for a lot of people, flaws like storage aside. It's to Steam users what Switch is to Nintendo fans.

Sadly the media is leading people to think of this as a console and direct competitor to Switch but its demographic is different.

Re: Phil Spencer Thanks The Fans As Xbox Game Pass Trends On Twitter

RavenWolfe81

I didn't quite understand GP until a year or so ago when Microsoft really doubled down on Age of Empires again and I tried it out on PC. Now I have a Series console and I'm always discovering new games I never would have played before.

Haters don't get it but it's really more about discovery and trying a game instead of blind buying. It isn't just about playing AAA games for cheap. Service deserves even more praise than it gets.
