Xbox Begins Testing New Monthly Quest For Microsoft Rewards Users

I’m currently just relying on cloud on mobile devices for these quests to avoid the electricity costs. Electricity is so damn expensive here in UK I doubt it’s worth purposely farming these quests. Last time I checked the electricity cost of Xbox + TV/PC + monitor running for the required time each day completely negated the points value.

Interesting move — tying Microsoft Rewards more directly to Game Pass engagement is a smart way to boost retention and discoverability. If the monthly quest system is well-balanced and transparent, it could become a real incentive for casual players to explore more titles

Oh , and another categorical statement "Microsoft will claim a surge in Cloud numbers too", oh you see the future now ! going from a simple update about Microsoft Rewards to that? Honestly, the ability to twist everything into negativity is pretty mind-blowing.

I remember when the Rewards used to be fun and actually got you playing specific gamepass games that moth and trying to earn certain achievements. Many times as a result it would get you enjoying the game through to completion long after you did the rewards quests.

@fatpunkslim It's very much true. Any company can and will do this to fluff numbers. Look at Activision, COD games these days need a server to play, so whether you play Zombies, Multiplyer, Campaign, or Warzone, they can count that as player engagement. Most companies focus on number of total users and not active users because it simply looks better to investors and people scrolling by an article

@Fiendish-Beaver I suppose it depends how MAUs are counted. You could count me as one MAU for using all 3 but still count me as someone who increases overall cloud or PC usage. Who knows 🤷

@Fiendish-Beaver But what does that have to do with anything? Who told you that MAUs are counted multiple times based on the platform? That’s yet another one of your assumptions you’re turning into a categorical statement. When does the article even mention MAUs? A Game Pass user is easily identifiable — it’s a single Microsoft account tied to the subscription, regardless of the device. It’s really not that hard to grasp.

Once again, before diving headfirst into saying something negative, maybe take a moment to think it through. You don’t have to say “this is amazing” all the time, but you also don’t have to say “this sucks” every time either.

This would be great if rewards registered for me on PC, but as it stands no Game Pass rewards work at all on that platform. Any game I play it's like I never did anything, even though on console it works fine. Apparently there are many people with this issue and there's no clear fix for it.

It shows up on my Xbox app too (US based). I dont have a GP subscription anymore, and the rewards are locked behind the subscription.

Not a fan if there’s no direct analogue for people who prefer to only play on one platform and would rather buy-to-own than pay-to-rent. This feels predatory, very discriminatory by nature, as if they’re forceably trying to corral people into a subscription-gated prison that does not benefit the end user but the company vision at the expense of the end user.
