With 2026 now starting to kick into gear, it's time to look ahead at what this year has in store for us! There are hundreds and hundreds of games that will be releasing on Xbox in 2026, and we've whittled down the current list into just 30 Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S titles that we're most looking forward to this year as things stand.
We do this every year, of course, but things are a little different for the 2026 version. Firstly, we're sticking to just the official descriptions rather than just waffling on about each game ourselves — this means we have more time to constantly keep updating the article with new additions (and taking older ones out) on a monthly basis, which should hopefully prove useful as the year rolls on. You'll also find trailers for each game in this big list, although you can also click on the game pages to get more information and other news articles we've covered for them.
As mentioned, these are far from the only games releasing on Xbox this year, and we have a massive Xbox Release Dates in 2026 guide that's intended to track all the upcoming releases. There's also an Xbox Game Pass in 2026 guide that's obviously focused around every single Game Pass title announced for this year.
Let's get cracking with 30 Xbox Series X|S games to look forward to in 2026!

Curious about Reanimal... but not at the full price!
I must have been living under a rock but when was a new A Plague Tale game announced?
Hmm... not actually that many I am really excited about yet, at least without knowing more. But then the same was probably true at the start of 2025 and that ended up being a banging year!
There will be many surprises, some we will know little if anything about right now, as well as some disappointments, but I hope it matches or betters 2025, that would be great.
Kind of excited for Replaced finally being released. When these current gen consoles launched, there were two indie games (one on each platform) I was genuinely interested in: Replaced on Xbox, and Little Devil Inside on PS. At least one of them won’t dissolve into vaporware!
Is Beast of Reincarnation an Xbox exclusive?
@ZeD Last years Xbox showcase. But assuming you did see it then, I don't blame you for not remembering, it looked nothing like APT only the name. We are also inundated with hundreds and hundreds of announcements that week so some get lost/forgotten.
@somnambulance No, PS5 as well.
@themightyant just had to look up the showcase and I remember watching it but I remember nothing about Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy! 😂
fable is the game I anticipating the most to be honest. starfield was like that for me and other then all the loading screens starfield hit it out of the park for me. I'm hoping fable is as plucky as the first 2
You missed Code Vein 2! I’m eagerly awaiting it. I’m getting soulslike withdrawal symptoms over here 😅
@Cakefish Trust me, it was so hard to narrow down the list! Plenty of other great games on the way in 2026
@FraserG a sign of a promising year indeed! 😊
It is a promising year. I never played Fable and Halo campaign evolved. I'm really interested on these games. Curious about 007 and Crimson desert. And of course patiently waiting for GTA6! The next jewell from Rockstar.
There's some cool looking games there. Barring any disasters, Forza Horizon 6 will be a rare day one purchase for me.
Also, I like Invincible but damn, that Invincible VS. is one ugly arse video game.
Also also, how many "XX Xbox Series X|S Games To Look Forward To In 202X" articles has Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake appeared in now? What with that and Beyond Good & Evil 2, Ubisoft is becoming to new king of vapourware.
A fair few games listed here that I am interested in, and that I will definitely be buying each of them for my Xbox day one:
Resident Evil: Requiem
Crimson Desert
Pragmata
007: First Light
Beast Of Reincarnation
Halo: Campaign Evolved
Prince Of Persia
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantic
When it comes to Gears Of War: E-Day, I have every Collector's Edition in the series, so really hope that they do one for this game too. My only hope is that they do one for the UK too this time, because I had to import the Gears 5 one from the US, due to them not doing one for the UK, which adds a lot to the cost.
I may buy Star Wars: Galactic Racer, but want to see more of it before I decide as racers are not usually my thing. I like them for a short while, but after a while my interest wains.
I will buy Fable should it release, but I highly doubt that it will. I am pretty confident that GTA 6 won't release this year either, but doubt I will buy it anyway, as it holds no interest for me.
I hope Fable makes a 2026 release date, but I am not expecting it this year. Early to mid-2027 seems more likely.
@Fiendish-Beaver Fable looks locked in for 2027, and GTA 6 is 50/50 right now.
@Darylb88 man they delay Fable another year back there might be an online riot 😂
Echo Generation 2 is my most anticipated one, haha.
I think Fable is looking odds on for releasing next year, @ILuvGames & @Darylb88. The distinct lack of any gameplay, or indeed, any updates, has me seriously doubting that we will see it this year. I think we will see some gameplay in the June Xbox Showcase, but that's about all I'm expecting to see...
Clockwork Revolution is the game that I am most looking forward to, but who knows if that will release in 2026.
Is it just me, but as I scrolled through… 2027 is way more likely for 80% of these titles
I lost my faith in the hype train…
@Fiendish-Beaver I just can’t see them delaying it AGAIN. See what they say at the direct but Phil did say he wanted the four Xbox pillars to release 2026 for the anniversary and Fable is one of them.
Is Hellraiser not slated for 2026? That looks interesting. I loved the first movie, but not so much the others.
Looks set to be a good year. My backlog set to grow even further.
I'm highly sceptical that Fable will release this year, @ILuvGames, but one thing is for sure, we will know more within the next few months. If we hear nothing once the June Xbox Showcase has been and gone, then I think it safe to say the game is delayed into 2027.
Personally, I'm really looking forward to it, so the sooner it comes the better, albeit, I want it to arrive in good shape...
Copy paste of my comment from the other 2026 Xbox games article
For me on this list
Definitely:
FF7
GTA6
Gears E Day
FH6
Probably:
Fable
Maybe:
Toxic Commando
Monster Hunter Stories 3
Hopefully come out in 2026 (on Xbox):
Pathologic 3
Solasta 2
Outward 2
Warhammer 40k: Dark Heresy
No Rest for the Wicked
Big Walk
Chrono Odyssey
@Fiendish-Beaver if it’s not featured during this month’s direct it will not come out this year but if it is on there that means they will have it slated for this year so we should have an idea this month. Now if it holds that 2026 date is another question as they keep delaying it.
I'm hoping that Solasta 2 comes out this year too, @Jenkinss. I'm not sure if it's going to do what it did with the first game and come out on PC first or have a simultaneous release across all platforms, but I really enjoyed the first game so am very much looking forward to the sequel.
Is Warhammer 40k: Dark Heresy a turn-based game? I do like my Warhammer games, though I have just fallen off Chaos Gate because I kept hitting annoying bugs...
That was pretty much my thinking, @ILuvGames. I just think the game is so anticipated, that Microsoft would have already mentioned if we were going to see it soon (albeit I don't think they have even confirmed the January showcase yet)...
@Fiendish-Beaver Yes it is turn based, it is a CRPG from Owlcat who also made Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader which it should be very similar to. They also made my favorite CRPG of all time Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous (which was a hybrid of turn based and real time with pause).
I would say Owlcat's CRPGs are the least accessible out of the best current CRPG devs (Larian, Obsidian, inXile) but they are more than worth learning because the games are phenomenal. They are also making the new Expanse game Osiris Reborn which is looking like a real Mass Effect successor. They are on almost an identical trajectory to 90s into 00s Bioware.
I bought Chaos Gate a while back and still haven't started it, can never find the time!
Thank you, @Jenkinss. Definitely interested in that then.
I bought both 40k Rogue Trader and Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous end of last year, but have yet to play them.
Personally, I'm really excited for Osiris Reborn as what they've shown of it thus far looks amazing. Just have to hope that the rumours of a 2028 or 29 release are wrong, though that said, I'd prefer they take their time and get it right...
@Fiendish-Beaver Same here... huge fan of Mass Effect (but who isn't, right?) and I'm pretty excited because I have high hopes for two games to take us on that journey again, Osiris Reborn and Exodus.
Have you heard the Osiris Reborn theme yet? Music is one of the reasons I love Owlcat games so much, and that song is just TAKING ME THERE. If not:

@Fiendish-Beaver Matt Booty confirmed there would be a January Direct just didn’t give a specific date. Supposedly the biggest one they have done (7 titles). It’s why I am optimistic Fable is atleast, for now, slated for 2026.
Cool, @ILuvGames. They have done a January showcase for the past couple of years, so I would have been surprised if they didn't do one this year. I'm a huge Gears fan, and that's the game I am most looking forward to. Fable is second on my list. It will be good if we get both this year, but I can wait for Fable if it means them getting it right...
Yes, @Jenkinss, I love Mass Effect, and have beaten the game a number of times. I was, at one time, in the top 1% for the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer (on the PC). That was so good, but it was nowhere near as good when they tried again in Andromeda (which was much better than people give it credit for, just not as good as the original trilogy).
I also love the Expanse television series. Tis great Sci-Fi, which is easily my favourite genre. I have high hopes for Osiris Reborn...
@Fiendish-Beaver I can not even put into words how excited I am for E-Day haha
