The Ascent Boasts Impressive Opening Weekend Results

The Ascent launched on Xbox Game Pass last week, resulting in thousands of players downloading and checking out the game. Despite that, it's still managed to be a huge success for publisher Curve Digital, which is celebrating its largest ever opening weekend in sales revenue after the game's launch.

Over the weekend, The Ascent achieved record breaking figures, generating over $5 million in total sales. Not only that, but it also hit the number one position in the Steam Global Charts. Developer Neon Giant also commented on its success, saying it was "overwhelmed by the positive response" following the game's launch.

"We have been overwhelmed by the positive response from the community and all our players. As a small team of twelve, creating The Ascent has taken a monumental effort, and we cannot express how grateful we are to everyone who has played the game and given us feedback."

There are still a few issues that need ironing out with the game. The co-op, both online and offline, is reportedly very temperamental. Neon Giant has already acknowledged the issue and is said to be working on a fix. Along with this, Xbox Game Pass for PC users are currently lacking DLSS and ray tracing support - something the Steam version possesses. Again, this is an issue the developer is working on a fix for.

Regardless of this, it's not hard to see why The Ascent is proving to be popular. In our hands-on, we really enjoyed our time with the game, complimenting its action and addictive gameplay loop. It's not only another Xbox Game Pass success story, but proof that games included with Xbox Game Pass can still sell in impressive numbers.
