MS published a huge # of Xbox games like Nightcaster.

I almost feel like Minecraft Dungeons did something similar.

Hero Edition came out with base game & available DLC...

Then game was a big hit, so they announced a Season Pass (later).

It was just odd, because I bought the version (Hero) with everything. Till they changed their minds and added $20+ of extra DLC.

Doesn't it work on 360 though?

People can't seem to make up their minds about these new consoles, it's either OMG or We're Doomed! Oh well, you can't even buy one anyway...

Doubt this will ever happen, because it doesn't leverage Xbox Live or GamePass. It doesn't draw users into Xbox ecosystem or enhance the monetization of user activities on the ecosystem. Sorry, but today it's all about the money and creating sustained customer engagement (games as service).

I think he's got it backwards. The early Cyberpunk trailers (which we now know were fake) showed a 3rd-person action RPG like Witcher series. What we got was a rushed buggy first-person GTA clone staring Keanu Reeves with almost no choice & consequence.

More old Diablo games please...

I want to play the whole series on a console with a controller.

I wish I had a physical copy, but they cost a fortune. So being able to buy digital is next best thing, I guess...

Hmmm...so the one area that MS has objectively failed at in recent years doesn't matter apparently? Yes, gamers don't exactly like exclusives but they do generally work. Also, why is MS buying all these studios if they don't believe in exclusives?

Seems like he's just jumping on the bandwagon for extra publicity. Notice how he wants his name, his company, and his franchise to be front and center? Seems pretty tacky and obvious.

What I'd like them to do is unlock the whitelist that blocks most of the OG library from running on 360 BC. While about half the games are cleared on 360, alot of those are sports or licenced games. Most of the unusual and interesting games don't work on BC.

I should have bought an Xbox after the DC went bust...

But PS2 seemed like a safer bet at the time and had BC.

Later, I got interested again but the 360 initially had no BC for Xbox.

Then Red Ring hit and I didn't want to take a chance on 360 either.

Eventually got an XO for the exclusives and all the older BC titles.

Problem with consoles is that it's always a closed book.

Even if a PC costs more you can do whatever you want.

Console are great for the economics, convenience, and exclusives.

With PCs, you can assemble it over time, upgrade, and run almost anything.

MS probably hates me, all my games are physical (often used) and I don't subscribe to anything. I'm just old-school and I wanted to own all those BC 360 & OG with boxes and manuals. Gamepass and EAplay aren't anything I would ever want or need. Although for newer players, I can see the value and convenience.

The blame falls on CDPR management.

They knew that the console version needed 6 months more.

They should have just released the PC version in 2020 and delayed the console till 2021.

But alot of what they did on the console side was very deceptive and worthy of blame.

I bought a 360 in 2020, because MS ended BC program.

I wanted to be able to buy and play any 360 game.

So yeah, I still use it almost every week.

As far as documented deception and resulting damages to investors, CDPR doesn't have a prayer. Their only hope is to fix the game ASAP and get it reinstated on all store fronts. They have to get their stock price up, before they get nailed and have to compensate investors. Meanwhile, the refunds are also adding up too. This is why you don't pull this crap...

Is that a lot? I assumed it sold more.

Interest in consoles seems to be waning in Japan.

I worry that game development is shifting to the West too much.

Even Sony is paring back it's Japanese studios, for more Western games.

Any thoughts on why the PlayStation version is 110GB and the Xbox version is 60GB?

Don't want a refund, but depending on how this plays out.

My copy is from Walmart and they aren't offering refunds anyway.

If CDPR decides to screw over console players, I'll join a player suit.

The last straw will be Keanu Reeves sueing to have his likeness removed from the game due to an obscure clause in his contract (in the event the project damages his reputation and livelyhood due to negative press and pubic outrage).

When a developer announces refunds for everyone, the game must be pulled. What's the point of selling a defective game? Sure, some people may have the latest Series hardware. But with people cashing-in gift cards and making impulse purchases, it could make for a Christmas Mess for platform holders.

My guess is Bethesda games will still be multi-platform.

But they will only be 'free' on GamePass, Bethesda still needs to earn.

That way, Xbox gets a boost and Microsoft still gets the revenue.

My old concern with this, is we've seen console companies withdraw such features in the past. For example, when Sony removed Linux dual-boot from PS3. That did result in a class-action lawsuit, but Sony removed the feature anyway and just paid the settlement. There's alot of cheap PCs and laptops out there for Black Friday with great performance. While the Series S is a great value, there's way more emulator development on PC. Personally, I use more simple (single-system) emulators and yes you can play off PS1 and PS2 discs with a DVD drive. GameCube and Wii discs have encrypted directory files, sadly. I've always stayed away from Retroarch due to the complexity.

I wonder if MS will ever support HDMI Control. I have to go thru hoops to get my soundbar & TV on the same page with my Xbox on every bootup. Sometimes the audio doesn't come through and I have to reset all the links over and over. I'm getting 4K movie playback and Atmos, but it would be easier if the Xbox could open the connections itself and control other devices in the chain...

This might be possible due to the massive optimizations that they did to get the game running well on Switch. It's 60fps there too, and Series S can easily up the resolution from there.

They need to add an LCD screen for GamePass...

I tried a demo recently on Xbox 360 and it's pretty bad.

I like Tempest-style games, but you can barely see what's going on.

Also, Too Human. The game so bad that "it had to be free" per Phil.

I'd say go easy on those paid ads...

Sony and MS are both sold out anyway.

I'd use those ads to let people know when it's back in stock for real.

I've heard that MS is done adding additional OG Xbox and 360 games. There is a licensing process for that with Publishers and it's apparently been shutdown for good. So while Auto-HDR is nice, we won't be getting anymore old games added. Which is a shame...

It's already on GamePass, so I doubt anyone cares...

Sounds great, but you have to pay $200 more to play your old Xbox games on disc. So unless I wanted to re-buy digital for all my old games on disc, it's sadly a no-go.

Maybe MS should have added an optical drive to the XSS, so that existing owners had a more affordable upgrade path. They probably could have done that for $349.

If I had an Xbox One X, I wouldn't trade it for a Series S.

Xbox One X can do BC titles at 4K, Series S functions like Xbox S.

Series S is disc-less and it might end up targeting 1080p for gameplay.

The Xbox One S trade value seems way too low.

Optical UHD drive, HDR, Atmos makes the system worth more.

Add the remote and the S is a great system for apps, movies, and games.

No way I'd trade my Minecraft Green 1TB for $125.

I can see alot of Devs loving these lower cost digital-only boxes.

They stand to gain big-time, due to cutting out used game market.

But I'm not sure if most gamers should be celebrating. Too early to say.

High-speed external storage will be the gotcha of next gen.

Everyone's focused on console price with no idea what's coming next.

Between big installs & GamePass, space is going to get tight & expensive.

I love BC, the more old games the better!

This is an area that MS has been killing it.

I'm using an Xbox S and technically it supports DV and Atmos.

But it says my 2016 OLED has an older, unsupported version of DV.

I'm getting Atmos thru my sound system, but I've heard it's fake Atmos.

I'm not sure what to think, but my PS4 Pro doesn't do DV or Atmos.

So I'm inclined to be thankful for what MS has been able to accomplish.

I also use my Xbox S for Blu-ray and 4K UHD, and it all works pretty well.
