Treyarch Confuses Xbox Fans With Black Ops 1 & 2 Reveal For PS5

Last night, out of nowhere, Call of Duty: Black Ops developer Treyarch announced that Iron Galaxy would be porting the original Black Ops and Black Ops 2 to PS5 (and presumably PS4) in July, but didn't say anything about other platforms.

As you're probably well aware, these two games already exist on modern Xbox consoles thanks to backwards compatibility, but Xbox fans have still been left confused by the announcement, pointing out that the Xbox version suffers with low resolution and apparent hacking problems in online multiplayer.

Here are just some of the reactions to the news we've come across on social media:

Just to clarify here, there's no confirmation either way on whether new Xbox versions of Black Ops 1 and 2 are on the cards, but the way Treyarch announced this has ultimately caused all of the confusion.

Here's hoping we get a bit more detail either later this week or next week, as even though these games exist on the modern Xbox Store already, we reckon a new release with fresh servers would sell extremely well on Xbox consoles.

Stay tuned - we'll let you know if and when Treyarch reveals more on what's happening with BO1 & 2 on Xbox.
