One of Xbox's big upcoming first-party projects is obviously State of Decay 3 over at Undead Labs, and the game remains in an early Alpha state right now, although it's targeting a full release at some point in 2027.

We haven't seen a whole lot of the game aside from trailers thus far, so it's surprising that a brand-new video has just landed on YouTube with 72 minutes' worth of raw gameplay from the early alpha version!

This is coming from YouTuber Brian Menard, and here's what he has to say about it:

"Before we jump in, it's important to remember that this footage was captured from an early alpha build of State of Decay 3. Many systems, animations, features, visuals, balancing, and gameplay elements are still being actively worked on by the development team. You may notice bugs, unfinished features, placeholder elements, visual issues, or gameplay mechanics that change before launch. This footage is not intended to represent the final quality or final version of State of Decay 3.

The developers were kind enough to allow me to share this gameplay experience, and I'm incredibly excited to finally show everyone what I've been able to see behind the scenes."

The video shows off elements such as exploration and scavenging, vehicle gameplay and resource management, infestations and plague nests, and various other elements from the early hours of SOD3 as it exists right now.

Early feedback in the comments has been really good so far for the most part, although there's definitely some constructive feedback too - stuff that Undead Labs will probably be grateful to know about ahead of launch in 2027.

Anyway, go and see what you think for yourself! Are you liking the footage? Tell us in the comments below.
