Re: Deals: All 15+ Xbox Series X Games In The Xbox Black Friday Sale 2020

NotoriousWhiz

There's a long line of games from previous gens that I haven't played yet. For that reason alone, I'm trying (and failing) to get a Series X to play a bunch of (quality) old games in the best way possible.

Notable games I'm looking forward to playing for the first time:
Halo
Gears
Mass Effect
Deux Ex
Hitman
Metal Gear Solid
Ori
No Man's Sky
Assassin's Creed (I only played the 2nd one)
Fable (only played a little bit of 2)
Final Fantasy XV (maybe)
Nier Automata
Ninja Gaiden

(etc)

That said, I don't have a whole lot of free time, so I definitely won't be going through all the games I wish I could play, but my kids are getting older, so I have a lot more time than I did previously to get through some of them.

All said, I don't need new games, I just need games.

@hallower1980 @Krzzystuff I never played on the official servers. I have a private server that I share with friends where we've upped the taming speed, resource gathering speed and pretty everything else that takes forever in default settings. It's great fun, and let's you spend more time exploring than gathering resources or trying to feed a dinosaur.

So do all these upgrades (except 4k resolution) also apply to Series S? Ark was literally the reason I bought an Xbox one X (which I later traded in for an Xbox one S, due to their broken promises). If these upgrades are Series X exclusive, then I might jump on the X sooner than later, but if it's also on the Series S that would be great, and I'll just jump on the S sooner than later.

The most important upgrades for me being:

  • Tetherless splitscreen
  • Tetherless non dedicated

@TheGamerKing Nope. Max 40 hours. - ADHD Gamer.

Sidenote: The last RPG game I finished (prior to FF7R which I was able to finish quickly due to timing) was Octopath Traveler, and that took me about a year. I finished half of it when it released, and then picked it back up 6 months later and finished the other half. (Didn't beat the true final boss though, after trying once, and the battle basically didn't progress after 2 hours, I nope'd out of there).

Re: Take-Two CEO Believes Xbox Will Do 'Very Well' In Next Console Generation

NotoriousWhiz

@TheNewButler As someone with little time, but a bit more money, I plan on acquiring all of the consoles anyway, as this allows me to play whatever I want to play, whenever I want to play it. But I honestly prefer playing on Xbox over PS or Nintendo, and would like to see more variety of games show up on Xbox. As an old school gamer, I find that I prefer indies more than most AAA games anyway, so I'd really like to see Xbox do better with indies like they did during the 360 generation.

Re: Take-Two CEO Believes Xbox Will Do 'Very Well' In Next Console Generation

NotoriousWhiz

Let me be more specific. Lots of developers are currently releasing games first on PS or Nintendo, and leaving Xbox behind. Including a large number of indies:

Fall Guys
Spelunky 2
FF Crystal Chronicles
Trials of Mana
Dragon Quest XI
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Langrisser
Enter the Gungeon

Now, this is small list, but this includes games that I am/was very interested in playing and either have to wait to play it on Xbox, or am unable to play it at all on xbox. And all of the games listed above were made by 3rd party studios, not Nintendo, not Sony.

Will Xbox be included with more game releases going forward? That is my metric for success.

Re: Review: Battletoads - A Hilarious And Hugely Entertaining Adventure

NotoriousWhiz

I feel like I may be one of few that didn't find any of the turbo hovercraft levels too difficult in the Battletoads games. For the record, I played Battletoads on Sega Genesis (which I think was a port of the NES version with better graphics), and I played Battletoads & Double Dragon on the SNES. The ice stage on the Genesis one always killed me. And on the other one, if I just barely made it past the stage with the girls with the whips, then the asteroids level would be the end of me.
