Didn’t take long for Watch Dogs to get discounted. As expected.
You can snag Watchdogs Legion for $30-$35 at a number of places during Black Friday (in US) for those interested in a physical copy. Also I just picked up Maneater for $12 from Best Buy 😃. I think I may pick up Control again... I was looking to buy the dlc and this makes a nice deal for once I get my hands on the Series X.
Pick up Gears 5 if you haven't already, Game looks amazing on Series X..
And of course I bought Watch Dogs before Valhalla.....ugh!
@NEStalgia
Is it any good?
@electrolite77 I probably haven't played enough of it yet to give a completely fair opinion. I do like what I've played so far. The reviews were fairly middling, but I think the reviews were sort of expecting something it wasn't going to be. It's more Watch_Dogs. It's a less narrative driven Watch_Dogs than previous Watch_Dogs. But it's more Watch_Dogs. In some ways it could be seen as a spin-off in that it doesn't really connect with the prior stories in a direct way, doesn't focus on a linear story so much, it's kind of a big sandbox with open world "Ubisoft template" missions. But the gunplay feels good, the hacking/puzzle element is refined. If you like the gameplay of the W_D series it's absolutely a refinement on the formula and very fun. Just nothing memorable without a particular story to follow (beyond a minimalist backdrop story.) If you like the series hack and gun gameplay, and like a sandbox to play with it in, it's the best in the series. If you're looking for a focused adventure, it's not going to offer much.
There's a long line of games from previous gens that I haven't played yet. For that reason alone, I'm trying (and failing) to get a Series X to play a bunch of (quality) old games in the best way possible.
Notable games I'm looking forward to playing for the first time:
Halo
Gears
Mass Effect
Deux Ex
Hitman
Metal Gear Solid
Ori
No Man's Sky
Assassin's Creed (I only played the 2nd one)
Fable (only played a little bit of 2)
Final Fantasy XV (maybe)
Nier Automata
Ninja Gaiden
(etc)
That said, I don't have a whole lot of free time, so I definitely won't be going through all the games I wish I could play, but my kids are getting older, so I have a lot more time than I did previously to get through some of them.
All said, I don't need new games, I just need games.
@NEStalgia
Great, thanks for that. I played some of the first one and wasn’t drawn in by the Narrative at all so I don’t see ‘less narrative’ as a minus at all 😉
It’s already down to £33, if it drops below £30 over the next week I’m in.
@electrolite77 LOL, yeah, I've been arguing all along with the complaints of no narrative, that that still makes it 50% more protagonist than Aiden Pierce!
The fact that Aiden is a DLC add-on character should tell us something though
I read one review that called the game "Pokemon, but with people." That gave me a chuckle....because it's kind of true. The current price is pretty incredible for a brand new release 2 weeks later on black friday. Considering Valhalla is still full price it probably says how bad this game is failing. Shame, it's really a decent game for fans of W_D, and I imagine this spells the end of the series unless it picks up long tail sales. As for when it drops quite that cheap.....it feels like day trading. They might generate buzz with the current price and jack it back up, or it might just spiral into the bargain bin and be abandoned.
@NEStalgia
It seems to have stopped its downward price spiral just above what I was waiting for. 😐 Heard stories about the Autosave bug that has put me off too. Thanks for the feedback though, it’s definitely on my wanted list just maybe not right at the top.
@electrolite77 Anytime!
The autosave bug seems to affect all the current Ubi games including Valhalla. I bet Fenyx has it too (but will be patched before launch.) If I were to guess it involves their built in cloud saving...their patch notes talk a lot about what should be a PC feature in a console context.
