Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Is Causing Serious Issues On Xbox

It appears certain Xbox owners are experiencing substantial issues following the recent update to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Over the past few days, many users have taken to forums such as Reddit to share their experiences over the past weekend, which has included multiple crashes on the game that have fully powered down the console.

The issue has also affected ourselves here at Pure Xbox - we've actually experienced the issue twice within an hour on Xbox One X - so it appears to be a fairly widespread thing.

Treyarch responded to one particular Reddit thread after the user reported that their console was completely dead. He stated that the game would crash every four to five games, before completely refusing to power back on.

A rep for the company stated:

"Generally speaking, we're investigating all crashes and across the game. We outline to contact our Player Support so that you can share details with them and they collate the feedback. My immediate recommendations are to make sure that you're using the correct version for your platform. Players have also shared that disabling Ray Tracing on XSX has helped. LMK if it does."

Whether disabling ray tracing helps the issue remains to be seen, which can be done easily within the game's options. We haven't tested the workaround ourselves just yet - after hearing that report of a bricked console, we'd much rather wait for an official patch - but at least it's a potential workaround for those desperate to dive in.

Have you had the issue happen to you? Let us know in the comments below.
