Developer IO Interactive - famous for the recent Hitman series of games - has revealed today that it's working on a brand-new James Bond title, which will be the first mainstream Bond game in over a decade.
The working title is Project 007, and is described as a "wholly original Bond story", with players stepping into the shoes of the world's favourite Secret Agent in the very first James Bond origin tale.
There's no release date for this one, or even a suggestion of platforms as of yet - IO says it's currently recruiting "elite talent" to join the team that will build out the game, so we might be waiting a while for it yet.

I am so so so so excited! Best gaming news in absolutely ages. Rubbish as the last ones were I still had my fun with Legends, Blood Stone and the like. With IO making a Bond game it could be truly special. Goldeneye N64 special.... Yes yes yes!!!!!!
@sikthvash I liked one of the game cube games. Can't remember the name, but I remember having fun with it.
@NotoriousWhiz Rogue Agent? Yeh, it was OK. The campaign was a bit tedious in parts. I had fun in the multiplayer though! We are in dire need of a proper, modern Bond game though.
Hopefully this will live up to the older classic bond games like golden eye and nightfire, those were amazing games!
IO is literally one of the developers I've always wanted to see a Bond game from. Not only can they do the high octane action sequences, but also, as Hitman proves, the quieter moments. Think back to Casino Royale and how Bond infiltrates the Ocean Club, or the opera house in Quantum Of Solace - distractions, costume changes and bit of good old-fashioned sneaking and eavesdropping. All very Hitman-esque if you ask me.
Consider me very excited, Mr Bond.
This is great news! It’s been too long since I have played a great Bond game.
Now.....if we could only get that new movie to finally come out.....
