Gonna be honest, I have them all for 360 and still haven't had the chance to beat them. I'll just stick with the 360 ones for now, assuming I eventually get to them.
I got stupid lucky and managed to get one from Amazon on preorder day, and it got delivered day 1. Yesterday I grabbed one of the 1TB Expansion Cards from WalMart, they happened to have one in store and thanks to game pass I am already down to only 200 gig open on my internal (using two 4TB drives for older titles)
Pretty good selection this month with these two. For anyone who got Dead Rising WAY back when people with CRT televisions couldnt read the text on their 360s (yes, this was a thing, and shows how old this game is) they can try it again and maybe get into it. And Breakdown is fantastic, a game that never got a lot of traction but those that became fans really got into it. Shame Namco never did more with the IP.
I'm not the biggest fan of the naming convention but it could be worse. One was a horribly confusing name for people unfamiliar with the XBox ecosystem. At least with the "Series" lineup, they kept the idea of the S model being the baseline console and the X model being the high end console (even though the One line didn't start that way......). My only concern is if/when Microsoft does their console refresh for this generation how they will name the new baseline and higher end units.
I got some stuff, but keep in mind I am digital only. Snagged the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Metal Gear Survive, the Mortal Kombat 11 Pack 2 DLC, Sonic Adventure 2, Castlevania Harmony of Despair, Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect Andromeda, Terminator Resistance, Trials Fusion, Hollow, Faery Legends of Avalon, Bound By Flame, Metro 2033 Redux, Trials Rising, Blazing Chrome, Omega Strike, Aquatic Adventures of the Last Human, and Rock Band 4.
More or less a bunch of stuff I didn't wanna pay full price for but had some interest in. Closing in on the 400 game mark.
Why are we getting DLC before the Series X version? I'm not buying the game til I can play the version made for my console, especially with all the reported issues.
Was tempted to get this on launch, but waiting for now. Part of me wanted to wait til the Series X version was done so I could jump in to the best looking version from the beginning, part of it was to wait for patches for issues.
Not sure about the "best on a certain console" mentality. I'm an older gamer and remember Donkey Kong on the Colecovision being intentionally made better vs the Atari and Intellivision versions.
I actually did a review of it over at http://retrogamingroundup.com/blog/?p=1675 but to shorten it I feel the system is more of an evolution than a revolution. That being said, I haven't really felt a console being revolutionary since the original X-Box or MAYBE the Wii.
I got my XBox I think a year or two after release. It came with a copy of Jet Set and I think Sega GT. I remember getting the DVD kit with it (back when DVD compatibility was locked behind a dongle that plugged into a controller port, mine went in the forth port). Quickly became my favorite system, I loved the internal hard drive for game saves AND music, plus after I bought Halo it made me a huge fan of the series.
Gotta say my UPS driver is cool, I have never had any issues with him. If I am not home he'll walk up and set the items on the porch in my chair, and often if I am home I'll go out to the truck so he don't have to get out.
I have high hopes. Mostly because of Yukes. I also have high hopes for AEW. which for now seems to be blowing TNA out of the water (remember when they released a game?)
Mines out for delivery. I was really worried when people started getting emails from Amazon that theirs would be delayed until sometime before December 31st, but looks like I lucked out. Thanks F5 keyboard key!
I have a small cart ready to go with stuff. Axiom Verge, the first Jackbox pack, Mutant Football League (hoping there's something there from the old Genesis version), Hotline Miami Collection, and Toejam & Earl Back In The Groove. Geez, almost all retro styled games it looks like I'm buying.
I'd like to know how seamless it is moving an external hard drive from an X-Box One to a Series X. An accessory test would be cool too. We know the controllers work, but do the rechargeable battery packs transfer over? Are the battery covers the same size? How do devices such as steering wheels handled? Any difference in headset audio quality between the two devices?
It's cool for those that have the tech. Unfortunately my new TV is just 60hz (although it's my first 4K tv) so I won't be seeing those 120 FPS that some games will have. That's OK tho, the 4K is good enough for me.
Honestly, this needs to happen. I love the backwards compatible lineup, but there are some gaping holes. The Mechassault games were some of my favorites on the original system, but not backwards compatible. I'd love to play these again. There's plenty of original X-Box games I'd add to that, like Blood Wake, the Dead or Alive games, the GTA Double Pack, Soul Calibur 2, Max Payne 1 and 2, Chronicles of Riddick, Unreal Championship 2, the Lord of the Rings games, the X-Men Legends games, Metal Arms, the Oddworld games, all the 3D Mortal Kombat games, Brute Force, Stubbs the Zombie, heck I could go on just on the original X-Box. Haven't even started the 360, which doesn't have as many holes as the original does, but still some big games missing. That being said, I'd love a push to get much more of the original X-Box library backwards compatible.
@Terrin Yea, I feel the same way. And if they are marketing to non-gamers, it's just some armored guy. Plus, the console is sold out everywhere so unless they have a large amount of stock hitting stores at once, they are pushing a product that people aren't able to receive. Nintendo barely pushed the NES Classic and SNES Classic, and still people were frustrated that they couldn't get one. We could see something similar with the new X-Box Series line.
That's part of my game plan. If Amazon hasn't charged by card by the day before launch day, on launch day I am going to a local tiny towns Wal-Mart (had luck there with both the Switch and Lite) and waiting on them to open. If they get even one console I should be good, than I'll cancel the Amazon order. So at least I have a backup plan.
Hmm, well I preordered from Amazon and requested launch day plus the next two off work. If Amazon ships before launch day all is fine. But if my account still hasn't been charged on launch day I'll be hitting up my small town Wal-Mart when they open to try to get a console there and if I do cancel the Amazon order.
I got the email. I still have hopes to get one on launch, I know I must be early in the queue as I was refreshing every 15 seconds. Plus if they do it a different way, I'm a prime member and have been for a while, so if Prime members get preference I'm still good. Here's hoping.
It depends on if I get one. I'll try to get one launch day on Amazon, but if I don't have any luck, I'll just pick one up when I see one in the case at the store.
There's around 50 million X-Box Ones out there right now. Let's say a quarter of them (an insanely high number) get a Series S or X within the first six months. Even than, you are selling to a smaller base of people. Keep the One version, but end support for it a year after release if it must be done to keep development going.
Also, keep in mind that Halo Infinite is gonna push Game Pass HARD. Might as well take advantage of that for people still on X-Box One. Heck, after the year of X-One development is over, offer an XCloud version to stream the Series X version to X-Box one for all the benefits of the Series X if their internet connection can handle it. Problem solved.
Series S hinted at more. Battletoads playable demo. Crimson Skies returns. Mechassault returns. Blood Wake returns.
Gold eliminated, Game pass now set at 9.99. Any X-Box One games acquired via Games with Gold permanently unlocked in users account. Free online play for all users from here forward.
Backwards compatibility team begins work on new titles (possible only compatible with series x/s). Original X-Box Blood Wake and Mechassault games confirmed, along with a few other original X-Box games and around 50 to 100 more 360 games.
It depends on the system for me. If it's Switch, I prefer a physical version, as storage is very expensive via the SD card slot and game sizes inflate every year. External drives for X-Box are a lot cheaper for bulk storage, so for my X-Box I get everything digitally for the convenience of just launching from the menu instead of having to swap discs.
Microsoft has a bad track record for supporting consoles when a next gen one comes out. When 360 came out, the original was killed overnight. I wasn't around for the 360 to One switchover though. I think it will depend on Series S and X pricing. If the crazy rumors of a 199 USD Series S ends up being true (would be insane), I can see the One being discontinued at the end of the year. Otherwise, I think One will go to being a budget console for 2021 before being phased out in 2022
I'd hate to see it phased out, as I prefer games I get to keep as long as I have Live over a rotating series of games that I might take too long to play. That being said, if they phased out Gold, made online play free, and allowed previous Gold subs access to all the free games they got permenantly I'd be fine with a switch to the only premium service being Game Pass. I use Ultimate anyway, but mostly for my son so he's always got something new to play.
I'm an X-Box guy, and been so since the original system (although I love me some Nintendo too). That being said. the PS5 case is more clear it's meant for a PS5. I can see a lot of non-gamers who are buying gifts for kids getting Series X games for X-Box One owners or vice versa.

Re: Report Takes Aim At Xbox Series X's 'Energy Wasting' Instant-On Mode
Funny, because I remember the first major Series X OS update in December including a patch that drastically dropped energy usage in standby mode. https://thesaxon.org/xbox-series-x-update-reduces-standby-power-consumption/16499/ Post patch claims 10 watts instead of 28.
