All Elite Wrestling has revealed that it's working on its first current-gen and next-gen console game with former WWE 2K developer Yukes, with WWF No Mercy director Hideyuki β€œGeta” Iwashita also attached to the project.

The game was revealed as part of an AEW Games 1.0 Special Event on YouTube, in which AEW star Kenny Omega explained that he wanted the game to be "easy to pick up, but hard to master", name dropping titles such as NBA Jam, NFL Blitz and Ken Griffey Jr.'s Home Run Derby as his personal inspirations.

Omega also noted that fans have been asking for games with similar gameplay to Nintendo 64 wrestling titles WWF No Mercy and Virtual Pro Wrestling - "in other words, you guys want your games to be fun."

There's no official release date for this one yet and the footage above is said to be representative of a game "still early in development", but we'll certainly be keeping a close eye on its progression.
