Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 12th)

I'm becoming totally addict to Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. It's a complete new game, despite its title.

It's Phantasy Star Online 3, really.

New mechanics, new world (and a beautifull one), new story (yeah, there's one, this time ! A classic, but engaging one) and especially new graphics.

After a couple of hours in the game, you unlock the option to go back to the old version (you can choose your version, when you launch the game) and... its... just horrible. Going back to the old one, which I really loved since its western launch, is impossible for me, right now.

Because New Genesis is just too good, too beautifull. Oh, and if you try it on Series X, you'd be wise to choose the "graphics" option (pushing all effect to maximum) and then, in the game menu, go select the framerate to boost it to 60. It will be no problem for the SX

Re: Ubisoft Didn't Want To 'Abandon' Far Cry 6 For Last-Gen Consoles

Bobobiwan

The cross-gen debate is, for this particular generation, a different matter than it used to be.

Cause it's all about stocks. Really, it is.

How can we move to the next generation, if the customers are not allowed to do it, even if they have the will and the money to ?

I'm considering particulary fortunate, right now, for having managed to secure a Series X from day one. But it took me a lot of efforts to do it (I had to go waiting in front of my local store, at the early morning, the day the reservations began. Had to take a day off at work, just for that). And luck (cause some guys who were with me in the line, that day, didn't get their console right away).

And now, when I talk to some family, or some friends, to tell them how amazed by the console I am... This fellows just can't manage to find one, if they want to. It' like "It's really great, man, you should definitely consider buying a Series X" and "Yeah, you're right, I want to... but I can't, so, anyway..."

All of this situation is beyond ridiculous, at this time. We all know what's happening, pandemic and all, particular component which is extremely difficult to produce and thereby the console itself, but still.

Playstation and Xbox launched a great product, and can't manage to satisfy the demands. And I have a feeling that it will be exactly the same with the new Switch that is coming by the end of the year.

This stock problem has to stop, now. And THEN, we will be able to move on from cross-gen titles.

@LtSarge Exactly what I thought : I really like the feeling of being lost in this beautifull and fascinating world.

And this is pretty huge, for me, cause with the kind of life I have now (which means : work and family), I have very little time to play. And sometimes I'm even wondering "maybe I just don't like to play anymore, or not as much as I did when I was younger".

And this game - which should totally discourage me by its lenght - brought me back my enthousiasm about gaming, in general. Now, I make time to play it. Because I want to.

It reminds me when I was a kid, lost in the worlds of Zelda III or Final Fantasy VI. I felt the same some years ago when playing Zelda BotW, too.

And now, this one. This Valhalla. It's honestly one of the most beautifull games I've ever seen. And I'm feeling that I'm gonna play it for a very, very long time.

(PS : so now I want to try Odyssey, too ! But after this one !)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 29th)

I've finally started Assassin's Creed Valhalla. I bought it day one with my Series X, but for a reason unknown even to me, it did find itself in my backlog right from the start.

But it's not a bad thing, cause the game has been heavily updated, since.

And I'm discovering it right now, for the very first time. Being away from the Assassin's franchise since an eternity (since the second episode, in fact).

And Oh. My. Gosh. I am litterally blown away by HOW BEAUTIFULL and engaging this game is. It's a masterpiece, in my opinion. A true one. I'm playing female Heavor and what a splendid character, so beautifully written and interpretated.

After trying both modes, I've decided to go the "quality" way, and yes, that means 30 fps. But it's not necessarily a bad thing : it really help the game to shape a cinematographic style that I particulary like. The 60 fps is really great, too, but I really feel we loose something here - I don't know what - about the general beauty of the game, something about the lighting, the weather effects... I don't know.

But yeah. What a game. How can I have taken so much time to get into it ?

Re: Xbox Dev Responds To Report That DRM Is A 'Serious Problem' On Xbox Series X

Bobobiwan

Personnaly, I made peace with the fact that I don't need to buy discs anymore. And that's on Xbox.

And Smart Delivery.

Basically, now, when I buy some disc, it's just a key to download and install the game. So it's now as if I bought the game digitally, except for the fact that in this case I NEED the disc to launch the game.

So, now, I finally accepted that buying a game digitally is very often the more convenient way. To me, at least.

Still, I make exceptions, sometimes. Like Resident Evil Village, which I found 20 bucks cheaper in physical (and new), so I bought the disc. But it just made my console download the digital version of the game.

I guess "This Is The Way", now, at Xbox.

Re: The Marvel's Avengers Black Widow Event Has Arrived

Bobobiwan

I'm playing it right now, and what is a real shame, here, is that this game, at its very core, is just damn pretty good.

It is beautifull, fun to play, and tells a good Avengers Story.

But beyond that, even I am starting to see what went wrong in here : the multiple costumes are shaping, in a way, the only endgame goal. But to obtain these, it's one hell of a farm.

If you're a completionist you just HAVE to take your wallet to get those. Some one them.

And it's almost 15 bucks for ONE costume. ONE.

And the game is not even free to play.

They had a good game in their hands, and they chose the greedy way. Electronic Arts style. Except here, it is Square Enix.

Re: Rumour: Wait, Is Tom Cruise Going To Be In Starfield?

Bobobiwan

Tom Cruise in a AAA game, with a proper character to interpret, would be an awesome thing. I'm such fan of his work. And it's notorious he's a sci-fi fan...

So it can be possible. Hopefully, this is some kind of E3 leak, like something that will be confirmed next month !

Re: Ubisoft's The Division: Heartland Suffers Major Gameplay Leak

Bobobiwan

@Nightcrawler71 I think this is The Division 3.
In a certain kind of way, I mean.

Publishers should have noted, by now, that these so called "games as a service", where you pay full price to buy your game, and then wait for content to be created, are doomed. Litterally, this model is doomed.

Anthem, Avengers, The Division... (and I love these games !) it's always the same problem. The entry-price is blocking new gamers who whant to just try the game, reducing the community as quick as it's possible.

Free to play is the way, now. For these kind of games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 1st)

Bobobiwan

I've finally started to play Marvel's Avengers on Series X, and honestly I'm quite surprised.

Because this game is very good.

I totally understand the bad buzz about micro-transactions, the cash-grab attitude (I'm not putting a single dollar in this - I already payed the game full price when it launched !), so yeah, it really should now goes the free-to-play road. Or at least the gamepass road.

But nevertheless, the game in itself is... quite awesome. It's a beauty. But really, like something you show to your friends to demonstrate how powerfull your new console is.

The gamepaly is quite cool, too, and furthermore : the story - and its narration - is really, really good.

So, for any Marvel fan (which I totally am), it's a must-play. Really.

I don't care about endgame or multiplayer or this kind of things. As far as I'm concerned, it is an EXCELLENT solo beat'em all, with a very good story and some awesome graphics !

So, if you're an Avengers fan and just want to enjoy your favorite characters in a good storyline, you should definitely give it a try.

And if it comes to gamepass, one day, I predict the game's community will suddenly rise from the dead.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Still Buy An Xbox Without Game Pass In 2021?

Bobobiwan

Gamepass Ultimate is precisely the very reason which made me choose a Series X over a PS5 to start the next gen. I resisted this programm during all the previous generations, continuing to buy my games on discs, even on Xbox One X, but when Microsoft announced the "All Access Programm", I just couldn't resist.

And honestly, I cannot go back, now. The thing is : I continue to buy games now and then, even with my subscription going on, but what this new choice of play made me do is going all out on digital.
I don't plan to buy any game on disc, now. And I've always said that I want to keep my games on physical. To see them on my shelf. But not anymore.

There's just too much choice, it's just so damn easy to go for all digital, right now. I'm looking throught the gamepass catalog, and i'm looking throught sales event on Xbox store. And that's it.

I think, right now, the only thing that I keep resisting like that is for movies. I still prefer to buy my movies on blurays and blurays 4K.

Re: These Eight Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (April 8-20)

Bobobiwan

Ok, I'll say it : I'm one of the three people on earth who have NEVER EVER played GTA V. Or any GTA game, by the way.

And I just finished a game last night (Gears 4). I wanted to play something different before going with Gears 5.

So I think now is the time to educate myself and to finally see why this damn game is one of the most successfull of all time.

Re: Halo Infinite Actor Suggests The Game Will Launch In November 2021

Bobobiwan

@blinx01 Ahah I personnaly decided to sell my PS2 in order to get an Xbox. Which was a big decision for me, at the time, cause I was in love with my PS2.

But I remember having read an article about HALO in a videogame magazine calling it "the best FPS in the world" and "the most beautifull game ever seen" and I HAD to see that.

So, I traded my PS2. For an Xbox and Halo (and also Dead or Alive 3, if I remember it correctly)
And when I finally got my Xbox... saw how big it was. How bizarre was the controller... But I launched the game.

And this title screen. "HALO". With this... ring in space. This ring with... I don't know, land on it ? The whole concept just absorbed my mind. I was completly hooked. If you add to that the MUSIC.... I was like... I didn't push start for like an hour.

I just stood in front of this title screen. I was so used to dreaming about this game, from what I've read and all, that I wanted to continue. To keep dreaming about it. I just couldn't realize that I was there. That I was, finally, in position to press start and begin my journey into this world.

And eventually, I ended pressing it. The start button, I mean. And man, what a journey it was. What a journey it STILL IS.

Man, I just can't wait for HALO INFINITE NOW !! XD
