The time has almost arrived, folks! As of today, Microsoft Flight Simulator is available to pre-download for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, meaning you can install all 97GB so you're ready to play on release day.
To download it, all you need to do is head to the Xbox Game Pass app on your console, find Microsoft Flight Simulator, and hit 'Install all'. If you've already pre-loaded it in the past, it should download automatically for you.
Microsoft Flight Simulator will officially be available to play via Xbox Game Pass for Series X and Series S on Tuesday, July 27, and it released this time last year for PC. It'll also be coming to Xbox One via xCloud in the future.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is the next generation of one of the most beloved simulation franchises. From light planes to wide-body jets, fly highly detailed and stunning aircraft in an incredibly realistic world. Create your flight plan and fly anywhere on the planet. Enjoy flying day or night and face realistic, challenging weather conditions.
Will you be stepping into the virtual cockpit next week? Let us know down in the comments below.

Never played it but will be next week!! Cannot wait to play this!!
@jarvismp me too I never had a capable PC that could maintain any sort of framerate, but always wanted to play it. Look forward to trying it out.
I've pre-ordered the deluxe version and see that it's also started downloading. it said approx 40gb was the base game and approx 50gb was the world offline mode. Can't wait to get stuck into this.
Been waiting for nearly 20 years to play a flight simulator on console. Never got into high end PC's. Bought a new storage expansion for this, infinite and horizons. Taking next Wednesday off to fly.
I've bought my Series X for this damn game. Really, I did. It was one of the very main reasons, for me, to get one.
So I'm going to download this right this way !!
@jarvismp Same here. Im looking forward to the experience.
Time to do some housekeeping on my SSD! This is easily my most look-forwarded to game on my Series X. It also couldn’t have come a better time, as I’m suffering some anxiety/stress issues at the moment and this is the perfect game to chill out with.
Current PC install is 140GB so maybe more content is streamed from Azure with the Xbox version
It’s currently downloading right now for me. I’m honestly looking more forward to this than even Halo Infinite. What’s to stop Asobo/MS releasing this to play right now? I know it not due till 27th but the game is ready to be played today so why we waiting?
@Bobobiwan Same. Buy a 2-3k computer or a 500 dollar game pass machine.
Cannot wait to try this out.
Curious to see how the series s will run this
@SplooshDmg Hopefully they implement DX12 so CPU efficiency can increase. I recently built another PC and reinstalled the game and with all the extra data it still weighs in at 140GB, although the initial download was around 90GB
@Darylb88 The heavier processing will be done in the cloud and streamed to the console, that’s how the Xbox versions will work
I hope I fly better on the xbox than on pc where I couldn't even get the plane of the ground
@SplooshDmg I just watched a video on sim update 5 and performance looks to be massively improved! Looking forward to testing it out next week
Very excited for this but just concerned about how it will control on the gamepad.
I've never had a PC powerful enough to play an MS Flight Sim but have always been envious of those that did.
Will it be worth getting one of those flight stick controllers or do you think my Elite 2 will suffice?
