Update: We've now got confirmation on more details about this optimisation, including the fact that DirectX Raytracing is reserved for the 30fps mode, and there's even a special 120hz mode at 1080p if you want to use it.

"With three graphics modes you can pick your preference of frame rate, resolution, or visual fidelity, along with upgraded materials, particles and LOD (Level of Detail). We’ve also included the feature most requested by our community: chapter select! Now you can replay your favourite moments from Senua’s journey to Helheim, and make sure you track down every last lorestone."

Original story: We weren't expecting this! It's been announced today that Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has received a totally free upgrade for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and of course, it's also included with Xbox Game Pass.

The upgrade follows a celebration of the game's fourth anniversary over the past 24 hours, having first released for PS4 & PC back on August 8, 2017, and adds "enriched visuals, DirectX Raytracing, resolution mode and more".

You can grab the download right now on your console, and here's what the blurb says about it:

"Relive Senua's journey and experience her world through new eyes in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, now optimised for Xbox Series X|S. Available now with enriched visuals, DirectX Raytracing, resolution mode and more."
