Update: We have a price! As per the official Xbox website, the Philips Momentum 559M1RYV will be available for an eye-watering $1599.99 USD, launching this summer. Philips will also have other Xbox licensed monitors in the future.
The Philips Momentum supports 4K resolution at 120Hz powered by AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology to reduce screen tearing. It also introduces a new, dedicated Xbox picture mode. Players can enjoy high-contrast HDR with the VESA Certified DisplayHDR 1000, offering local-dimming and peak luminance more than 3x that of mid-grade displays on the market.
In addition, both ASUS and Acer have also announced 'Designed for Xbox' gaming monitors today, both of which are set to release a little later than the Philips Momentum 559M1RYV, but nevertheless will be available later this year.
Original story: We've got an interesting announcement coming from Philips Monitors Asia Pacific today, which has revealed that the 'world's first monitor designed for Xbox' is on the way in the form of the Philips Momentum 559M1RYV.
The monitor is "built from the ground up to provide the ultimate experience for Xbox fans," featuring HDMI 2.1 capabilities (meaning you can play at up to 4K, 120fps on Xbox Series X), low latency and low lag, and an 'Xbox Game Mode', which is said to "create an exciting mode with specially tuned picture quality for Xbox."
Here's what Matt Kesselring, director of Xbox hardware partnerships had to say about the monitor:
"At Xbox, we are always looking to give our fans choice in how, what and where they play their favorite games. Today, we're excited to announce our partnership with Philips to deliver the first Designed for Xbox monitor, giving fans a unique display with technology and features that provide the ultimate console gaming experience for Xbox Series X|S."
Unfortunately, we haven't come across a price or a release date for the Philips Momentum 559M1RYV as of yet, and while an official website page does exist for it on certain Philips websites, it's listed as not currently available.
Here's the full list of features for the 55' monitor as per an official Philips document:

• Designed for Xbox for the optimal gaming experience
• Smooth console gaming at 4K / 120Hz

I problems with monitors now and days is there is no sound pass through. That really needs to be addressed imo.
Will it explode if I plug in a PlayStation?
@nessisonett probably made in the same factory Sony makes theirs. Just switching out the logo pieces at the end of the assembly line.
It you're going to buy an expensive gaming monitor you might aswell just use a gaming pc
Can I get one in 27" please?
Too big. Give me a 32 inch and I'm in.
@Would_you_kindly why when Series X can take advantage of the same features now?
I have a 4K Philips ambilight tv and with the hue lights on it - it’s astounding. Ambilight is amazing and really immersive. Games like Ori or no mans sky are great examples of it.
It doesn't appear to have support for Dolby Vision...
@SpacemanJupiter
That's what she said.
@Spaceman-Spiff
Good point at that size and features you are honestly better off with a tv....
It's too big for a monitor, why buy this when you can put the money into a LG CX?
To big - even 32" is to big for my room. Give me 24 - 27" max please.
Does anyone know of a 24 - 27" monitor with these specs that isn't crazy expensive?
@Rockyboy247 Exactly. I love my LG CX and would recommend it over that.
@Kramlar I think this will be my next TV, lighting looks amazing.
However if the price is right on this monitor...
Oh, is this monitor in the article variable refresh rate too? Or does that not matter on 120hz?
@SithThanos same, I played with the picture settings and I am not sure if they are right, but regardless, I still love it
@Porridge2215 im not sure about the 120hz, I know that Philips have been pretty slow to announce anything with that refresh rate.
Last year (about 3 days before lockdown in March) I got a 50inch 4K hdr tv and a philips sound bar and subwoofer for £400.
I saw it on hot uk deals and was too good to pass up. I also had a £50 Amazon voucher from my work so for 350 it was a steal.
I only have a one x so for me personally there’s no 120hz, and for price I’m happy
Wouldn't touch a Philips Momentum monitor with a barge poll. I went for a 32" 4K one that was meant to be highly rated for consoles towards the end of 2019 for both the consoles and PC. The BLB was unbelievable, fifa and other games were unplayable. I got a replacement and had the same issue. Got a refund and bought a BenQ then ordered an LG CX OLED for the consoles. I would have no hesitation recommending the LG CX for gaming. Its honestly amazing, and still has the wow factor even though you think you should be used to it by now.
Not just for games @Nexozi Honestly watching the bad batch and any space scene is just breath taking. The LG CX is amazing
I would like to see the price of this but I’m already wanting an LG CX by the end of July. Anyone have any idea when they’ll be discontinued? I really don’t want to miss out as the new Samsung Neo TVs are too pricey as I’m after a 65”
They could add the Xbox picture mode to the most popular TVs such as LG models that have HDMI 2.1. The LG OLED models are amazing. Ambiglow looks so cool, though.
Omg, lol. Why make such a premium small tv and call it a gaming monitor? The bros will buy it, set it on their desk, get their headsets and ignore those sweet speakers all while destroying their eyes.
Size matters I guess but a 27" 1440p with the best specs would make better since, but people care about 4k too much.
It's $1,500 for this monitor.
For that price, better to just get the 48" LG CX OLED.
This is a neat product but definitely a tough ask for $1600. Can get a much better setup with separate components for the same amount.
@SithThanos Surely you can use an AVR for pass-through? Using a monitor to relay an output back to the speakers / AVR is never a good idea.
