Cast your mind back to March, and you might remember that Xbox Game Pass racer Wreckfest received a totally free 4K, 60FPS upgrade for Xbox Series X, which was exclusive to Xbox consoles.
Now, the game has received another next-gen upgrade - this time available on PlayStation 5 in addition to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S - and while it's a better looking version, it'll cost existing owners £9.99 / $9.99.
So, what do you get? On top of the 4K, 60FPS performance found in the original update, this version adds dynamic dirt, better textures and improved visual effects, along with the ability to race with up to 24 players in online multiplayer.
This version of the game is out now for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S digitally, but if you want to pick up the boxed physical edition, THQ Nordic says that it will follow "in due time" for the two Xbox consoles.
"The retail version for PlayStation 5 is available today, the boxed edition for Xbox Series X will follow in due time. Owners of Wreckfest on last gen consoles can upgrade to the enhanced current gen version for $9.99 / € 9.99."
Will you be taking advantage of this paid upgrade for Wreckfest? Let us know down in the comments.

Game is fun but not gonna pay for the upgrade. Online was very antiquated.
I played the PS5 version and while it looks good, I don’t think it’s significantly better than the 4K 60 FPS the Series X was already doing. Personally not sure it’s worth the $10 upgrade.
Said it before. Said it again. Was a fun game, but I'm not paying for graphics. Same way I've never paid for a skin for a game.
So, I wonder now if it's $10 for the gfx upgrade to the Game Pass version, do you still get the game at that point even if your Game Pass expires? Not that I'd ever end my Game Pass lol! Just curious.
Umm.... No, no thank you. I won't be supporting this kind of paid for upgrade.
But the real question is: Can you now add 22 other Bots if you only have one other buddy in an online game? It's not as fun with only 6 other bots.
They are smoking the good stuff.
Are these updates coming to the PC version or are they already there?
Is it possible to apply the update to the GP version?
the question is how do i buy the upgrade if i already own the game?
basically i will use some of my Microsoft rewards points. get a $10 Xbox gift card to buy the X/S upgrade. so the upgrades will always be free for me that way
