Looks great, I'd love to update. Unfortunately, my computer is first and foremost a video editing machine, and until I'm certain there are no compatibility issues I won't be going anywhere near it
Sometimes, I despise gamers. Great to see when the big wigs reach across the console divide to support each other like this; XBox or PlayStation, they both have to deal with scum purporting to be fans
I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing that when the headline says we need to talk about 'that' part, I'm genuinely not sure which part you are referring to. The tonal shifts in this game is genuinely bat****, but it is certainly memorable
I really tried to like Alan Wake, as I really liked Control and wanted to play through it before doing Control's DLC, but just couldn't get on with it. Was hoping to return to it sometime, but I guess it'll have to wait until it comes back onto Gamepass, or is given away some other way...
2. I never owned a 360 so got 2 on PS3, loved it. Never got round to playing 1 (or Andromeda for that matter), so can't wait to properly get into the Legendary Edition
Wish it was last week, RE8 seems to be handing out cheevos like it's going out of style but I'm almost done on that. Still, just in time for Mass Effect...
Absolutely, there have been some great narrative driven games. Those saying they don't want XBox to "become Sony" and only do narrative games are deluded - all the other genres are there to be enjoyed on PlayStation, just as they would be if XBox did them. It's just that these are high profile, tentpole games that grab a lot of attention, and often for good reason. The Last of Us, God of War and Uncharted sell millions for a reason, and they are more than just "boring films"
I'm just finishing up on Hollow Knight on XSX, and I should be able to pick up my copy of Returnal from Currys on Saturday evening. My son got Mario Party on the Switch for his birthday last week, so I'm sure he'll want to have a few games on that too
I bounced off it years ago on the Switch, but funnily enough I just got into it on Gamepass a couple of weeks back (off the back of my Souls binge) and it's all I'm playing right now. I think I'm just a few hours off completing, although debating pushing for 100%... Although I have Returnal and Resi 8 on the horizon, and I've still got DS 2 and 3 to complete my Souls binge...
It's very standard stuff, really not worth the amount of anger being afforded to it. Was RE Village really going to come to GP in the near future anyway? REMake 2 and 3 still haven't. And it's not surprising, if they have a marketing deal with them, that Sony would be concerned how it might look if they are marketing a title that is available on a competitor's subscription service (just look at the ***** show they had with MLB)
Sony are doing so many stupid things right now and there is plenty to get pissed off with them about, but this really doesn't seem like one of them
@TrueAssassin86x it's been a bad year, let's be honest. Their games have continued to be a success, and you can't sniff at their console sales, but outside of that the optics of the company has been shocking lately, and it looks worse when put alongside MS's consumer first image
XSX - still Sekiro PS5 - if I can wrestle it away from my son (he is addicted to Astro's Playroom!), either Control UE or Watch Dogs Legion Switch - Hades
In all likelihood though, it will probably just be Sekiro
@TrueAssassin86x Mark Cerny recently shared his Demon's Souls Remastered platinum and mentioned he platinum'd Bloodborne. Can't really imagine Jim Ryan doing something similar though!
@themightyant I tried them both because they really seem like games I should like but just couldn't get into them. Might give them another shot though, I really didn't give Prey long enough so now it's back on GPU I'll give it another go.
But yeah, I'm on a Fromsoft bender right now so don't see me playing anything else for a while! I've gone Demon's Souls to Dark Souls to Bloodborne to Sekiro - I think I've got a problem!
@UltimateOtaku91 that's how I read it too to be honest, but every gaming journalist is saying it means everything besides Deathloop and Ghost Wire are exclusive and I'll just assume they know better than me
@themightyant couldn't agree more. Sure there are some disappointed folk over there, but most of the disagreements over there seem to stem from XBox fan trying to stir up grief. Really, the worse thing about things like this are the smug fans, be they green or blue.
Regardless, I'm interested to see what the come up with. I might give Evil Within a spin but I really struggle to muster enthusiasm for Bethesda - I looked at the list coming to Gamepass and got excited until I looked at the list and realised I'm not bothered by any of them. Ah well, I've only just started Sekiro so that will be staying in my XSX for the foreseeable future
@mousieone I'm in complete agreement. A lot is being made of this comment among fanboys but doesn't really clear anything up. If anything, all it suggests is not ALL games will be exclusive. It was a given that Bethesda would develop some games exclusively for XBox, and so far that seems to be all that has been confirmed.
If it was just Ghostwire and Death Loop, they would say all exclusive beyond those with pre-existing agreements, but the fact that they haven't suggests that it's all very much anybody's guess right now. The only sure thing is that at least some Bethesda games will release on other platforms
@BrilliantBill I can buy Netflix Originals on the Google Play store bud. And of course, I can buy them on DVD or Blu-ray, but I'm better off just getting a Netflix sub... Which, again, is the whole point
@Bmartin001 I think I'll keep my life savings where they are to be honest. As I said, some exclusives doesn't scream "Everything apart from the 2 games already announced for the other platform to me". More than happy to be proven wrong, but I'll honestly be surprised if at least some of the next Scrolls, Fallout, Doom and Wolfenstein aren't on PS and Switch. I think the bigger thing is they'll be in Gamepass with probably exclusive extras, which I think is really the point of it all
@yungGanon I think the likes of Ninja Theory, Double Fine and Obsidian are going to be the more significant acquisitions for MS if you're concerned about quality exclusives
@Bmartin001 well, they have just said "some" will be XBox exclusive, so it seems they already HAVE spent 7.5 billion to publish on PS. Like they spent 2.5 billion to publish Minecraft on other consoles. Microsoft are out to make money, not validate fanboys' purchase decision, and this has always been about driving people to Gamepass rather than selling XBoxes.
Frankly, an awful lot of stock seems to be placed on the word "some". It seemed obviously from the beginning that Bethesda would start making some exclusive games, specifically new IP, but this still doesn't answer questions about how much will be exclusive. Frankly, seeing as it was always possible everything would be exclusive, it's looking more like the majority won't be.
Incidentally, a have a XSX sat right beside my PS5. I'm not being a fanboy, I literally have no horse in this race (I have GPU but don't even particularly care for Bethesda's games). I just think quite a bit is being made of this rather prematurely
Main selling point for the XBox for me has been trying new games with GamePass, so I like having a ton of games installed that I can just try out. I've got a 2tb hard drive for non enhanced games and an expansion card (got for free thanks to MS rewards), currently about 70% full across all my storage with about 100 games installed - although right now the only thing I'm playing is Dark Souls, which takes about 8gb!
This is a hell of a system and has genuinely kept me in the XBox eco-system, prompting me to get a Series X alongside my PS5. Thanks to this system I got an expansion card for my spanking new Series X for next to nothing, and I only joined in March! I'm reluctant to buy third party games on PS5 now as I know I can farm achievements for extra reward points!
@Kienda If you're UK based, keep an eye out the next couple of days. Microsoft store had some XSX yesterday, and I managed to secure one from Argos earlier today. PS5 has also had stock spring up on Game and Currys this week - looks like both are in the midst of a restock. There are some good Twitter accounts that keep you informed of stock, as long as you're quick
@KelticDevil Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach, Halo 4, Halo 5. That's 7 fps games with exactly the same gameplay. There have also been 7 3D Mario games too, although to be fair to Nintendo that's been over a longer stretch of time.
Halo Wars is a different genre, but surely the franchise is "Halo"?
And you're right it is your opinion if you don't like them, but your original point I took issue with was saying all PS exclusives are the same cutscene heavy 3rd person single player games when that is just factually untrue, its just the highest profile ones often are. It would be like me saying all XBox games are about boring space marines shooting aliens.
You are right about 1 thing though - I absolutely am a smart arse
I'm not a PlayStation fan, I'm a gaming fan. I have all 3 consoles and love them all - PS has quality exclusives, Nintendo has unique experiences and the Switch is perfect for indie gaming and XBox services are just outstanding, not just GP but also MS Rewards and their commitment to backwards compatibility. The only thing I don't really do is PC gaming - tried, can't get into it. Honestly, I'm on this site for XBox news not for trolling or arguments - same way I'm on Pushsquare and Nintendolife.
I was just trying to say that it is a little disingenuous to deny that exclusives are the area that MS need to step up to compete with Sony (and Nintendo for that matter), especially when they have admitted as much themselves. It just comes across as the sort of blind fanboyism you are accusing others of.
And seriously, if Uncharted is the same thing every time how can you defend Gears? And God of War has had 5 mainline games and 2 portable ones, the most recent being a complete overhaul of the gameplay. For comparison, Halo has had 7 mainline and 2 spinoffs that I know of and Gears has had 6 or 7 depending on if you include that Funkopop thing. I'll give you Forza is better than GT though, no contest.
My point is, just enjoy playing games. It shouldn't matter what other people are playing or saying if you're having fun. Just try not to join in on arguments online because before you know it you'll do sometimes really petty, like suggest someone got the words subjective and objective mixed up. Oops.
@KelticDevil I've also got to agree with sixstrings. I find both Gears and Halo to be crushingly dull. Finished Gears 5 but it was a slog, ditto Halo and have given up couple of missions into Halo 2. Forza Horizon however is great so can't deny MS has done good exclusives, but really cannot understand the love that those 2 tentpole franchises get
@KelticDevil mate, I know you're a big XBox fan, and more power to you, but you seriously are delusional if you think all PlayStation exclusives are just interactive movies. TLOU, Spider-Man, God of War, Astro Bot, GT, Bloodborne and Infamous all have wildly different tones, stories generally different gameplay. PS simply do have the better first party output, most people agree, even Microsoft themselves, which is why they are scrambling to get a decent portfolio of studios to compete (and I really think they will do better this gen, I'm excited to see what Ninja Theory and The Initiative do).
Its because of Sony's dominance in their exclusive output that MS really could do with Bethesda games being exclusive. That said, I think the exclusive thing matters far more to their fans than to them as a company - Netflix doesn't put Stranger Things on Disney+, but they do sell them on DVD - really, it's the same thing; you can either play on our subscription, or play elsewhere but pay a premium up front. Either way, they make money, which in the end of the day, is all they really care about
XBox Series XXX announcement confirmed! With Halo Infinite and Gears 12 preinstalled, 16000 teraflops and all Sony and Nintendo exclusives coming to Gamepass
