Xbox Is Kicking Off The Week With Two New Game Pass Additions (April 28-29) — *Image: Trepang2*

Welcome to a new week! As April comes to a close, we've got loads of games heading to Xbox Game Pass over the next few days, so we thought we'd break them down a bit — starting with the first two for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The first of these is Aphelion, which is a brand-new "day one" release for Xbox Game Pass from the folks at DON'T NOD (Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden). Aphelion is a sci-fi adventure set on a frozen planet called Persephone where you'll need to "survive the truly unknown, find each other, and complete the mission". There's a lot of interest in this one, and it'll be available for Xbox Game Pass on April 28th at 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am BST.

Then, on Wednesday, we're getting Trepang2 on Xbox Game Pass, which is a "gory, action-packed FPS" from 2023 that received very positive reviews at the time, and should end up proving popular on Xbox's subscription service.

While Aphelion is only for XGP Ultimate & PC members, Trepang2 will also be available for XGP Premium members.

Aphelion (April 28) (Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC)

Hunted on a frozen planet, astronaut Ariane must brave rugged landscapes and shifting realities to rescue her wounded partner, Thomas. This action-packed sci-fi adventure blends exploration, traversal, and tense stealth gameplay.

Trepang2 (April 29) (Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, PC)

Become the ultimate badass in Trepang2: A gory, action-packed FPS set in the near future. Unleash all hell on your enemies, dodge bullets and leave a trail of destruction in this hardcore and frenetic shooter.

I will be playing Trepang 2 eventually but I am fully focusing on the new Diablo 4 expansion this week.

I was ready to tick the box for Aphelion alone, but then I watched the trailer for Trepang 2, and quite liked what I saw.

For some reason, I thought Trepang was a multiplayer game, which having watched the trailer I think was maybe wrong. I do like a bit of senseless violence every now and again, and it looks more like it is pure violence rather than story led.

First off, am I right in thinking (now) that Trepang 2 is a solo game, and more about just shooting everything, rather than having a story? And secondly, was the first game any good because I often see that one on sale...?

@Fiendish-Beaver There isn't really a Trepang1, it was a weird side-scrolling thing that had nothing to do with Trepang2.

Trepang2 is a solo campaign game that does have a story, but it's also "about just shooting everything" as you say

@Fiendish-Beaver I've not played it myself, but I've seen lots of people describe it as spiritual homage to the F.E.A.R. series, at least in terms of gunplay.
