@Arkantos2990 Definitely, as long as you don't pre-load it of course. Then you'd probably have to download a patch on release day, but I'm sure that is all pretty obvious already.
For 3rd party titles, I get it. There are some that have stayed on there, but others have left of course. First party titles will stay on there forever though, so technically there's no need to buy them ever. I still own/will buy the occasional first party title though. At least the really big ones that are really important to me. I own Gears 5 as an example, and will likely still buy games like Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield.
I know to some that seems dumb, but oh well. Also, one day I could decide I don't want Game Pass anymore (unlikely).
I don't have a 120hz display, but honestly, this feature could be about their FPS Boost in general and it would still be just as true. That in itself is still a game changer with how much support it's gotten already from Microsoft.
I don't think 84.3 GB (plus the Day 1 patch, depending on if it overrides any of that initial installation) is really that bad for 3 games, even if they are remasters of old games plus DLC.
As for the 10 GB Day 1 patch, that is a bit much after initial thoughts, but that's actually not that bad when you consider it's 3 games.
I'm more interested in a lot of their other upcoming titles after Halo Infinite. If somebody wants to jump ship because of one game, then they will be missing out on a good amount of potentially very high quality games. Say what you want about the past 10 years or so, it's actually an exciting time to be an Xbox fan with plenty of very interesting games coming out in the next 1-3 years on Series X.
If Halo Infinite turns out to be pretty good, great. I'll happily play it then, as it's been a long time since I've really enjoyed a Halo game.
It has had an incredibly long development cycle of course, but I'll wait to judge the game until there's something more substantial to go on than a very positive quote that seems to be taken out of context by some. Just because he said he doesn't think it will be am epoch-making masterpiece. The whole great part seems to be getting overlooked.
I have yet to try it on my Series X since I updated the game this morning, but why are so many updates end up not working properly lately?
Can't blame the virus anymore since that's been going on for a long time now. I heard the new Watch Dogs: Legions one has issues, this, Assassin's Creed Valhalla every time they had something, etc....
@Bmartin001 I'm guessing it's just a matter of time. It'll be great whenever it happens.
It's also great now that we don't have to find a physical copy of Unity anymore to get the 60 FPS. Not that it's expensive, but I would imagine some people might be confused by the multiple editions of the game (I believe the regular initial release is the only one that worked for the frame rate until now)
Annoying that the Season Pass for Assassin's Creed Valhalla never goes on sale, but I've seen Immortal Fenyx Rising's on sale multiple times now. The first DLC is about to come out, so it going on sale before then would have been nice.
Never expected a drop as large as this all at one time.
I'm sure some of the requested games like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Dishonored 2 will come in time. There's no reason for them not to with the rest of their series now getting FPS boosts.
@Terrin I didn't even remember that announcement. I searched and found some articles, one from this year showing 7-15 (minus 14). It is what it is, and like I said, I doubt I would have played many of them anyways (I already own the 3 Final Fantasy 13 games too) as there just isn't enough time.
@everynowandben I had never even heard of Hotline Miami until yesterday, but unfortunately it's only on Game Pass on PC. The collection for both games is only $25, which isn't too bad. Could end up on my list of indie games to play when I need something quick in between other games.
@Terrin Obviously not saying you're wrong or anything, but then why make the announcement earlier in the year to give people that impression?
Honestly, it's not a big deal to me since there's no way I'd be able to play many of them before they left anyways with everything else out there as well, but their announcement earlier in the year did more than just give people the impression that all of them (7-15, minus 14). If they would have been more clear, it would have prevented any confusion/disappointment, that's all.
Another Final Fantasy game getting removed is also a bit odd. They made a big deal about getting Final Fantasy games on Game Pass, and even announced early this year that all of them (starting at VII) would come to Game Pass at some point this year (minus Sony exclusives of course).
@AFCC I doubt it is, but like others have said, it makes little sense to pull it even though Remedy owns the publishing rights now.
It was on my list of games to finally play at some point this year, but I'm not pushing it ahead of games I'm playing already just because of something stupid like pulling it yet again.
It'll get the usual "it's leaving Game Pass, please buy it now to keep playing it" discount before it leaves. It's $20 right now, which is a bit steep, but $4 off that would at least be something.
Not a knock since I'm a Series X owner, but it's almost a guarantee that the patch will be larger on Xbox because file sizes are generally larger on their systems. That is one thing I will give Sony credit for, especially over the last year.
As glad as I am that this is coming, I will likely be waiting buy it as I have plenty of other things to play right now, and obviously this will be a huge time commitment.
Still taking care of some things post-story in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Then might play some Forza Horizon 4 or pick up where I last left off on in Dishonored for the Game Club here.
Wouldn't mind trying Second Extinction, but don't have any friends in the US that are playing it. I would only play online games anymore if I have somebody to play with.
Good to hear, but not quite sure why it's shocking. A game in a long running series becomes essentially free. Obviously the amount of people playing it would go up a good amount.
Honestly, I'd probably still buy an Xbox even without Game Pass. The Series X is a fantastic gaming console regardless of Game Pass, and that's still the selling point for me over an extra feature. An extremely good and helpful one, but an extra feature nonetheless.
@Cherip-the-Ripper Either or. I used to have a pair of headphones years ago that I would use for gaming and movies, but they broke after years of use and I never bothered getting another pair. Strangely enough they were Beyerdynamic headphones as well and were great. Maybe someday again, but I've been content with the TV audio for now.
@Cherip-the-Ripper Yeah, the audio was supposed to be great and I felt like I was missing out a bit, but wasn't going to buy headphones for just one game. I expect the audio to be great on this too obviously.
@Fiendish-Beaver If I have time to do it, I would like to do that as well, especially if I ever end up getting the new Xbox wireless headset.
I'd be surprised if this didn't come out until 2022. It seems to be a game that got delayed because of the virus, especially since they just recently showed their new motion capture studio and now this video pops up. That all gives me the impression at best the motion capturing wasn't all completed before then. Obviously we really can't know if they managed to get any done before they had to stop.
On a more positive note, this is at worst my 2nd most anticipated Xbox exclusive for the Series X. The first one, while a bit frustrating in parts, was largely great. I wish I had experienced it with headphones like they recommended, but that's my own fault.
@aj102404 As long as the game plays great, I guess that's still something positive, but it is still a shame for people that really liked Road to the Show.
@aj102404 So, basically that sounds like NBA 2K in that regard where you basically have to buy VC to be able to have your player really progress.
Wouldn't mind trying the game out though to just play it. I probably would have skipped Road to the Show anyways since NBA 2K has really killed that kind of a mode for me.
@S1ayeR74 Not be mean or anything, but we knew Deliver Us the Moon was leaving for at least a little while now. Worst case, you buy it now with the 20% off discount before it's gone for good and full price. Granted, even then it's not expensive.
I would love to see it as it was one of my favorite PS4 games, but the fact that there's been absolutely 0 talk of it coming out isn't exactly promising. You would think there would at least be a rumor or something.
Obviously it will cost me money in the end, but since I still haven't played this and wouldn't have time to download and actually finish it, maybe the Series X version later make sleeping on this worth the money.
After watching the trailer, sold... I'll likely buy it at some point this week, and will hopefully end up giving a big thanks to Phil for recommending it. I appreciate the fact that it seems to be very original. I don't see why I won't end up loving it, but still, I obviously have to actually play it first..
@TheFrenchiestFry Still not quite the same though. You had to pay to get either on PS5, but Gears 5's next gen upgrade was free. I'll give Sony Demon's Souls though as that was a full on remake and only the first time it has been that I know of, while Spider-Man Remastered was (obviously) just a solid remaster of a game not that old.
@TheFrenchiestFry You are mistaken. Gears 5 never got a physical release. It's literally just an upgraded version like what these other cross-gen games got that you download digitally.
Also, remastering or remaking (whatever it ends up being, if true) a game for the second console generation in a row likely as an obvious money grab is not the same as upgrading a game once for the next generation (and for free). It wouldn't even matter if it was a tie-in with the upcoming TV show. It's still ridiculous to be doing it yet again, and probably charging for it yet again.
@LtSarge promptly removes LtSarge from friends list since he's an obvious Pony Plant all this time
Seriously though, while I know you're not, it still has been apparent for a long time that Microsoft needed to really step it up with their 1st party output. Thankfully they are doing that, and we just have to wait it out. The excitement they have generated is enough for me to be fine, since this time in a few years this will likely be the 360 generation all over gain (minus hardware failures and them forgetting to care about 1st party output).
In the end, I know you're excited for the future as well and it's all good. I know you weren't actually being negative about where things are now with Xbox.
@LtSarge Honestly, if their first party lineup looking weak is just becoming apparent to you, then you have not been paying attention for many years now. It's far from just becoming apparent.
That aside, I'm not concerned and I'm perfectly happy having my Series X. It still plays 3rd party titles really well, and obviously enhances old titles in one way or another (load times at worst). Plus, like others have said, these 3 games being a ways off still is not news at all.
Like mousieone said, they are doing good things to make things just fine while we work our way through the usual slow period at the beginning of a console generation (combined with the virus delaying things). I'm not worried about the future of their 1st party output either, and at least it will have some variety (unlike Sony and them forcing almost everything to be 3rd person action/adventure games).
No reason to be all of a sudden down on Xbox. I know that's likely not what you intended, but it is coming off that way. It's actually the most exciting time to be an Xbox gamer since before the 360 launch, and you almost wonder what's next now every week.
As long as this doesn't disappoint, I'll be checking it out since it'll be on Game Pass.
It's been too long since I've played a good JRPG (other than Final Fantasy 7 Remake). Yes, I know it's my own fault for ignoring Dragon Quest XI and Tales of Vesperia since they are both on Game Pass too.
@Dezzy I'm excited about both, if only because my plan with Cyberpunk all along was to wait for the next gen version. Still, since I was already going to replay The Witcher 3 at some point since my first playthrough was on PS4 and I never played the DLC, I might as well wait a bit longer to play it for the first time on Xbox.
I had started a playthrough when the first season of the Netflix show dropped, so I'm expecting to be able to pick up where I left off game save and achievement wise with this (likely unlike on PlayStation since most PS5 versions end up being completely separate).
Maybe after this it will finally run the way it's supposed to?
Still waiting for the Series X upgrade to be released, which will likely end up being late this year with everything getting pushed back because the current versions of this were so bad. Well, out of all the systems, this did actually run pretty decently on the Series X from what I gathered, but still waiting.
Not knocking the Series X at all as I love it and prefer it over the PS5, but why are several games so unstable on it? I could understand the earlier titles since their dev kits were behind Sony's, but there's no excuse for this at this point. It's been out for over 4 and a half months already.
Still, a bad look for Activision given that you had to pay extra for this.
Looks intriguing. Obviously I still need to see more to commit the likely playtime these games usually require, but giving the talent involved and the genre, I plan on keeping an eye on this one.
As somebody else said, it's nice to see another JRPG to continue making their new gen lineup their most diverse one in quite some time.
I'm not going to get either as I already have two black controllers, but if I had to pick one it would be the Daystrike Camo. At least it doesn't have the white back to it like they are forcing on almost all of their colored Series controllers. Would have gotten the Pulse Red instead of a second black one if it was all red.
@pepsilover2008 This instance makes no sense though. Call of Duty's next gen version could be purchased physically or digitally. Yes, the cross-gen version was $10 extra, but what has happened with Tony Hawk is almost completely different.
The digital version is the same, but people who bought it physically on Xbox being the only people not to be able to upgrade it is quite possibly the most baffling thing of this generation and we're only a 4 months in.

Gears 5 and then some Forza Horizon 4 now that it's fixed.
Re: Panic Over, Forza Horizon 4's Xbox Crashing Issue Has Been Fixed
I ended up trying it yesterday and it crashed on mine too, but obviously that is moot now. Like rjc said, that was a very good turnaround.
Really bad that they broke a 3 year old game with an update in the first place, but still, at least it's fixed already.

Re: EA Sports Acquires Super Mega Baseball Developer, Metalhead
Hopefully EA doesn't ruin Metalhead. Super Mega Baseball has been a great series, arguably just as good as MLB The Show.
What I mean by that is Super Mega Baseball is as good at being an arcade baseball game as MLB The Show is at being a sim.
Maybe this means we'll get Super Mega Baseball 3 on Game Pass at some point. I would have loved to get it, but it was always a bit overpriced.

Re: CDPR Reveals Everything Included In Patch 1.2 For Cyberpunk 2077
Maybe after this it will finally run the way it's supposed to?
Still waiting for the Series X upgrade to be released, which will likely end up being late this year with everything getting pushed back because the current versions of this were so bad. Well, out of all the systems, this did actually run pretty decently on the Series X from what I gathered, but still waiting.
Re: PlayStation Now Offers $1 Month Trial To Rival Xbox Game Pass
$1 too much until they stop forcing you to stream PS3 games...
Re: Tony Hawk's Xbox Series X Upgrade Is Having Major Crashing Issues
Not knocking the Series X at all as I love it and prefer it over the PS5, but why are several games so unstable on it? I could understand the earlier titles since their dev kits were behind Sony's, but there's no excuse for this at this point. It's been out for over 4 and a half months already.
Still, a bad look for Activision given that you had to pay extra for this.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 27th)
The usual... Assassin's Creed Valhalla and then more Gears Tactics Veteran missions when I have extra time.
Re: Astria Ascending Is A New RPG From Final Fantasy Veterans, Hitting Xbox Game Pass Later This Year
Looks intriguing. Obviously I still need to see more to commit the likely playtime these games usually require, but giving the talent involved and the genre, I plan on keeping an eye on this one.
As somebody else said, it's nice to see another JRPG to continue making their new gen lineup their most diverse one in quite some time.
Re: Microsoft Unveils Two Brand-New Xbox Series X Controllers
I'm not going to get either as I already have two black controllers, but if I had to pick one it would be the Daystrike Camo. At least it doesn't have the white back to it like they are forcing on almost all of their colored Series controllers. Would have gotten the Pulse Red instead of a second black one if it was all red.
Re: PSA: If You Bought The Disc, You Can't Upgrade Tony Hawk On Xbox Series X
@pepsilover2008 This instance makes no sense though. Call of Duty's next gen version could be purchased physically or digitally. Yes, the cross-gen version was $10 extra, but what has happened with Tony Hawk is almost completely different.
The digital version is the same, but people who bought it physically on Xbox being the only people not to be able to upgrade it is quite possibly the most baffling thing of this generation and we're only a 4 months in.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 20th)
Assassin's Creed Valhalla and then probably some more Veteran missions on Gears Tactics.
