PSA: Xbox Rewards Allows You To Reduce The Price Of GTA 6

Today's the day for GTA 6 pre-orders across Xbox and PS5, and as we covered yesterday, the base game is $79.99 in the US and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 - pretty much what we expected, but certainly not cheap by any stretch!

There's a great way to reduce the price of GTA 6 through the Xbox Rewards / Microsoft Rewards program, however, which will be obvious to those who use it already, but perhaps not to anyone who doesn't pay much attention to it.

In a nutshell, this rewards scheme gives you points for completing certain tasks on your Xbox console and beyond, and if you complete enough of them between now and November, you could probably rack up 50,000 points at a push - enough to shave around $40 off the price of the game in time for its launch.

Of course, some people are already doing this with the points they've saved up for the pre-order:

We already have a guide to getting 10,000 Microsoft / Xbox Rewards points per-month here at Pure Xbox, which we updated back in January. The program differs from region-to-region, however, so your ability to earn that many points (or more) will vary depending on where you live in the world.

Microsoft Rewards is also in the process of an overhaul for the browser and mobile versions that will alter how many points are given out. It's already live in some countries (including here in the UK), but others such as the United States are still waiting for their rollout, so just keep that in mind if you suddenly find that things are looking quite different.

That rollout originally began back in May for most countries, although some had received it even earlier.

1. On the Xbox dashboard, scroll over to your profile icon in the top-left corner and press A.
2. Go down to "My Rewards"
3. Once you've racked up enough points, hit the "Get Rewarded" button to redeem them
4. Select "Xbox Gift Card" and choose the amount you want to redeem (wait until closer to November if you're not buying GTA 6 immediately, as gift cards have 90-day time limits on them)
5. Once redeemed, you should be prompted to use the gift card when purchasing GTA 6 (or anything else on the Xbox Store).
