It's been a quiet week for Xbox Game Pass, but we've got a brand-new addition on the service today!
This game is called Abyssus, and even though it's been on PC for a year now, today marks its first ever appearance on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5. It also lands alongside a major 1.3 update as shown off in the trailer above.
Abyssus is described as a "fast-paced 1-to-4 player FPS and roguelite brinepunk adventure", and the good news is that it has "Very Positive" reviews on Steam to go along with its 71 average rating on Metacritic.
The Metacritic reviews are naturally based on the original release from August 2025 though, so let's take a look at what some of the more recent Steam reviews for Abyssus have been saying:
OhHiChicken on Steam: "I love this game, it's a blast, especially with a friend or two (the more the merrier), though it's still fun solo. Every weapon is viable as long as you pair it with the right blessing, and usually multiple blessings work well for any given weapon choice, so there are tons of satisfying weapon/ability and blessing combos to discover."
The Grand Dictator on Steam: "I've been playing a lot of roguelikes, and frankly a lot of the FPS variety ones tend to feel just about the same. Abyssus has been a hell of an experience that I keep coming back to, with friends as well. I'd say it's a good land, for a fair price, with devs that seem dedicated to funnel more content into the game for free, which is outstanding, and it makes me want to support these devs more and more."
Fuzzbuster on Steam: "It's kinda like a FPS version of Hades. Very fun, but winning runs are long. 45mins-1hour most of the time. All of the weapons are strong and super fun to use with their own niches, and you won't be at a disadvantage when choosing one blessing over another, they're all strong and will benefit any build."
Shamura on Steam: "I actually bought Abyssus to play it alone. When games are fast-paced I'm totally in focus and just love to do my own thing, but as soon as I played a few runs, I DM'd three of my friends to buy it as well cause I thought it also would be hella fun in coop. I like the total chaos you get when playing full team, but also love the precision and perfection Abyssus offers to focus on every jump and dodge, aiming to no-hit a solo run. After 27 hours of coop and solo gameplay, I can highly recommend Abyssus for both playstyles, especially because the difficulty scales depending on the number of players. A run can be either easygoing or totally tear you apart, depending entirely on your build's strength."
Sounds like it's worth a play on Xbox Series X and S, then! Abyssus will be available later today (exact release time TBD) on Xbox Game Pass for console, PC and cloud across the Ultimate and PC tiers.
Alternatively, you can obviously buy it on the Xbox Store, with the price likely to land at around $24.99.
