Update (Fri 7th May, 2021 17:45 BST): Problem solved! The team over at Turn 10 Studios has confirmed that Forza Horizon 4's crashing issue on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S has been fixed with a new update.
Original story (Thu 6th May, 2021 11:45 BST): The brilliant Forza Horizon 4 has received its latest update over the past 24 hours, clocking in at around 7GB on Xbox, but unfortunately it looks like there's some kind of issue with it - primarily on Xbox Series consoles.
Certain fans have taken to social media to report that the game is failing to load, crashing and even turning off their Xbox consoles following the update, although others are saying they haven't had any issues whatsoever.
Fortunately there does appear to be a temporary workaround if you're suffering from this issue and really want to play Forza Horizon 4 before it's fixed, and it requires setting your Xbox to 'offline' and then back to 'online'.
We're assuming a fix (or a rollback) will be applied pretty soon to rectify the issue.

Very stressful! Got home to find out the whole game restated after an update was required and can no longer play. Constant loop
The game would only let me play in solo mode for a long while after the Super7 update. It eventually got fixed, but it was really annoying because solo mode populates the game world with AI Drivatars that you don't ghost through like you do with actual players when in free roam, which got old quickly because it puts a ton of them in.
I have yet to try it on my Series X since I updated the game this morning, but why are so many updates end up not working properly lately?
Can't blame the virus anymore since that's been going on for a long time now. I heard the new Watch Dogs: Legions one has issues, this, Assassin's Creed Valhalla every time they had something, etc....
When did this happen? Played FH4 yesterday with no problems. It did reboot (not quick resume) suggesting it had updated.
That is a very good turnaround with the fix
I ended up trying it yesterday and it crashed on mine too, but obviously that is moot now. Like rjc said, that was a very good turnaround.
Really bad that they broke a 3 year old game with an update in the first place, but still, at least it's fixed already.
Itβs amazing all the coding that goes into these games, the consoles, online etc and just one little thing, one digit or number can bring it all down.
We live in such a technology vulnerable world
Imagine if the whole worlds internet ground to a halt πππ
Glad itβs all fixed best racing game ever created.
