Re: Rumour Says Fable Is An MMO, But It's Reportedly Not True

John_Deacon

I've been working a lot recently, haven't been able to keep up with all the news that pop up, so this kind of headline makes me freeze inside until I read the full text. Just the thought of seeing Fable be turned into an MMO drives me crazy. But that's it. Just some more fake news

Re: Capcom Reveals 80% Of Its Game Sales Are Now Digital

John_Deacon

The only system I had last generation was a 3DS and I think I bought 95% of games physical, maybe more. This gen I have an Xbox One and a Switch and things are very different now. I have only one physical Xbox One game, Witcher 3. Maybe it's less than my 5% Xbox total. With Switch, I started with some physical games, but then focused on digital, almost exclusively.

Digital games are easier to deal with. You don't even have to have them all downloaded at the same time. You can download a game only when you wanna play it. It's way easier for me.
The big positive point that physical games had in the past has been lost: a nice box with a beautiful instruction manual. Manuals haven't been around for quite some time and, more and more, games have been released incomplete, full of bugs, and devs fix them little by little through downloadable patches, including day one patches, which makes boxed games almost useless, since they can't offer you a complete and full experience in the state they are released. That's just my opinion but, for me, it justifies my focus on digital games

Re: More Publishers Are Reportedly Considering Raising Next-Gen Game Prices

John_Deacon

Well, since we depend on dollar/pound/euro exchange rates to have games priced in our market in Brazil (especially dollar) and considering the three exchange rates have skyrocketed this year, I don't think I'll be buying many games on launch day. And more importantly: I have no idea when I'll afford a new console.
Fortunately there are a lot of current gen games I still haven't played, so that will be the way to go for me for some time and there's no problem with it

Re: Guide: All Free Xbox Games With Gold In 2020

John_Deacon

I got Fable when it was offered as a game with gold but now it interestingly appears only as a game pass game in my library, separate from other games with gold titles. Basically let's say I don't own it. If I look for Fable on the Xbox app, it doesn't show it's been purchased by me like other titles (including 360 gwg titles). Has anyone been having this kind of problem with gwg?

Re: Another 9 Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass Next Week

John_Deacon

@BANJO well, I really liked Steamworld Dig 2. It's better than the first one, which I liked, too. Maps are nice, upgrades are great and at least for me the game makes you want to keep digging more and more to find places, water, equipment, money... A great one

Re: Excellent 2D Ninja Game The Messenger Expected To Launch On Xbox One Next Week

John_Deacon

Well, I'll have to be pretty straightforward here: if you're into Metroidvanias and/or 2d platformers, just play this game. It's a labor of love. Level design, music, writing, graphics (both 8 and 16 bit), abilities, weapons, everything is well done and there's a charm in the air.
I dedicated around 20 hours to get 100% and I'll do it again soon. If you're not a completionist, you can finish it in half of that time or a little more, but it's not the game that will make you want to finish fast.
Well, it's easy to notice I'm in love with the Messenger and there are a bunch of reasons to justify that. One of the best games released last decade. One of the best ninja games ever. One of the best Metroidvanias ever.
All right, all right. I'll shut up. But buy it

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, How Do You Feel After Sony's PS5 Event?

John_Deacon

Sony showed a little of what Microsoft should have shown: some gameplay. Now it's up to MS to give us a decent event and show some actual gameplay and reveal a launch lineup because we don't know much about it so far

One thing that bothers me is that a stream can't reproduce the gaming quality we'll see on our TVs, so how big the jump from current to next gen will be is still a big question mark to me. Maybe (and just maybe) we got to a point in which we'll see improvements, but I don't think MS or Sony will introduce anything jaw dropping in comparison to what current machines are able to deliver. Just my ten cents and I'd love to be totally wrong

Re: 12 Sonic Games Are Available In This Week's Xbox Live Sale

John_Deacon

@belmont I had the same problem until last month. Then I learned about a script that solved this problem and it worked for me. I'll just tell you that it only worked for me on Firefox with Violent Monkey running the script. It didn't work on Chrome.
The script says it was made to help people redeeming free games but it also helped me buy other games and I recommend it

Re: Talking Point: How Important Is FPS To You On Xbox Series X?

John_Deacon

I'm not an FPS geek. I have no problem playing games that run below 60 fps, but I thought that this would be a difference between current gen and the next. I thought devs would improve fps rates (increase and make them stable), but the news we heard this week showed me I was wrong. One thing I consider mandatory for the next gen is stability: I don't see the point of releasing games that have a big frame variation on such powerful machines, but I know it will probably happen based on Microsoft's latest reveals

Re: Phil Spencer Suggests Some Xbox Series X Games Could Be Delayed

John_Deacon

I don't think I'll be able to afford the new console on launch day, but anyway it would be better for everyone if games are released when they're ready, not rushed. Even if there's not a huge lineup, but there are some solid titles to make things start to heat up, backwards compatibility working fine and Game Pass on, it's gonna be all right.
What some people said in comments is true: many people will have to upgrade their TVs if they want to to fully enjoy the next generation. I'm against the grain here. I already have a 4K TV. Just don't think I'll be able to get the console LOL and facepalm

Re: Deals: Over 100 Xbox Games On Offer This Week, Including An Activision Sale

John_Deacon

@UnconfirmedBit Thanks a lot, man. I was so happy when I read your reply, but unfortunately it seems that the script only solves the problem with the monthly free games, not with paid ones. I spent almost one hour trying, tried Tamper Monkey, then Violent Monkey, even tried to adjust the correct price with the dot, but it didn't work. And I'm in Brazil. We use the comma here indeed. Do you know anything else I could try?

Re: Deals: Over 100 Xbox Games On Offer This Week, Including An Activision Sale

John_Deacon

I bought Symphony of the Night for full price about a month ago.
But no problem. It's so good it's worth every cent of its 200.6%!!!

I'm trying to buy the Metal Gear Collection now but I'm facing that bug in which the payment confirmation never appears. I've had happen to me many times in 360 marketplace recently, unfortunately.

And I'm thinkng of getting some RE games: 4, the first one and maybe 0

Re: Lots Of People Have Noticed Game Tiles Disappearing On Xbox One

John_Deacon

Well, while I haven't had this problem so far, I'm having other two that are quite annoying: I keep losing Live connection and some games have stopped working offline, which makes me have to connect every time I wanna play. That's a pain because in some moments, Live won't connect and you have to try again some times before it does
