I'd be very surprised to see this thing actually release. But if they can pull it off and save a ton a ton of jobs I'm all for it. If it's F2P i might try it, if it's not then I won't.
I think I'm close to the end of act 2 and i gotta say that E33 is one of the best games I've played. The combat is fun and i never look to avoid a fight, story is great and the music is insane.
I'm going to play both and BO7 will be first as it will be day n date in GP. I'll have to wait for Battlefield until it's in EA Play.
But out of the two I'm looking forward to Battlefield more as the now cartoon skins in CoD are too much.
Hopefully this leads to a hit in CoD player numbers and Xbox adds in a toggle to turn off the skins for folks who don't want to deal with that fortniteification of CoD.
They will go slower than what Xbox is doing but I'd imagine that anything that's been ported to PC is an option. I also don't think them porting crappy games like that Lego one makes sense as that really won't sell as it's just not a good game.
Spider-Man I could really see coming over as it's not really a Sony IP like God of War and the like, it has a PC port.... and they would gladly take the money because for all the praise it's gotten that licensing fee took a big chunk out of the profitability of the title. Returnal also makes sense to me.
Eventually I see the Horizon, Last of Us and God of War coming but that's after the first wave of non pillar games.
Pulling the blinders off slowly so the ponies don't get spooked.
Spiderman would be cool but for me personally i have limited time and I'm purely a gamepass player. Most games I've actually purchased I've yet to play unless i bought them for the kids. So in reality i don't care what they bring over because it won't be in gamepass and I won't be playing it.
I've been playing Expedition 33 all week and it's freaking awesome, I'm around the halfway mark i think. I gotta say that the soundtrack is such a standout for the game. That's saying something when the story and combat are as good as they are also. If anyone else is behind the times like me and hasn't tried it already definitely make time for this game.
I wonder if Xbox team can get a bit more control over their affairs after this. The move was stupid from the get go and I have a feeling it was a higher up Corpo decision that they couldn't sway them away from. Clearly it was a mistake, but damage was done and once again mixed messaging and stepping in rakes for no reason.
Was the absolute best multiplayer and loved my time in it...but the ques got too long for w a match as players dropped off and i haven't played it in almost a year? Would love to jump back in but it needs a solid player base
How long do folks recon until people have no money to buy the stuff that AI and robots are making for the good of the bottom line for a corporation that isn't an actual being? 10 years or will it be faster?
I still never played it but it was really never on my radar as I don't have time for these large games. The deep dive they did on this after the showcase really got me interested in it but again, no time for games this big unfortunately
Basically any time that you get excited about Xbox be worried because you know bad news is coming. When have they ever done anything good without stepping on a rake not long afterwards?
It's business, it's a corporation...THE corporation even...but still this is crappy.
Dudes definitely going to retire soon, he has a family and is very well off. He's gotten pretty fit recently making me think he's taking more time for himself and stressing a bit less so would align with him taking small steps backwards to allow a smooth gradual transition.
Good for him. Sarah seems like a great replacement so no issues with that.
I don't understand it... are there metrics showing that launching broken unfinished products actually makes money? Did they just run out of money and it was a now or never moment? With so many titles to play and a lot of it F2P you gotta come out swinging. Hopefully investors and management get the memo.
I don't expect any massive game announcements but I think they will have the handhelds there for all to try. There's been a ton of games already for 2025 with more on their way and 2026 stacked.... will they be announcing 2027 stuff or just going about partner and indie games? That Silk song game that's got people frothing could get a release date there, that could be the big game for them at the show.
@NishimuraX that's what Jimbo Jones was betting on, new management cancelled most of those and this is now joining the list. I'm pretty sure that they are well and truly done with live service games. Only one I see them maybe pursuing is a Destiny 3 but would you honestly trust Bungie with that after Marathon and all them missed forecasts that made them so appealing in the first place?
@Kilamanjaro yeah it's why I'm saying this thing is dead and dusted. We're not seeing this game because they would have to redo the art style and there's no way they will ever recoup that expense.
@StonyKL can you play your Xbox console library on the PC? If the answer is no to that then it's a no to your question.
But the new PC console hopefully won't have the online paywall. I'm all for the PC console, but I ain't messing with a PC. I've been told PC isn't a hassle to play on but i don't buy it. Just power on and play is why i want a console.
2027 seems like the date for Sony and Xbox. Going into the current gen i didn't have a console so i jumped in day one as an Xbox newbie but for 2027 I'll hold off for a while before diving into next gen. I would love for the PC console to be subsidized still so it's under $1K CAD after taxes but I'm worried that they will sell it at breakeven and it's going to cost us a bit.
Also.... storage.... please let it be like the PS5 where we can upgrade with off the shelf card's. As cool as the memory cards are the costs are just ridiculous and once compared to the competition just laughable.
@Kilamanjaro unless you're the one paying for it and might not recover all that money. I think this is done and dusted.
A niche market game that wasn't well received is already bad news, add in that it's all based on stolen art and it's a wrap folks.
Not sure what they do with Bungie but hopefully all the management that's been a big part of all the issues finally get booted.
Feel bad for all the devs that didn't have anything to do with the art theft and had their feedback on how to make the game good ignored. Expect cost cutting initiatives at Bungie before the year is over.
Horizon is great but they need to go back to the magic of 4. I don't know if it's the speed of how you accumulated cars or what but something was off from 4. 5 looks fantastic and was fun but i recall feeling like you just got cars thrown at you all the time and the sense of accomplishment kinda went away. Could be that I'm old and new gen just needs everything easily? If that's the case allow me to go to the top of Mt. Fuji and yell at clouds in 6.
@acmiguens that game will be at least $100 USD unless they break up the online and base game into two separate games...then it will only be $70-80 USD each
It's a weaker machine so 30fps is fine. Maybe eventually get's patched to 60 if it's possible but it was always the budget console so can't expect premium performance out of it.
Hopefully they didn't expect gangbusters for a game that's been out for a while. I'd expect anyone with multiple consoles or a PC who wanted to play this already played it... and it was a game that was divisive amongst the FF fans I thought. I've never had an intention to play it but could it be that it's just not a great game, is old and had no marketing on Xbox?
After seeing the presentation i do believe that a Xbox made handheld is likely dead. They have said they are moving towards a more PC based system going forward so while i still expect the next console to come out and play console games, I'm expecting that next gen they transition to the new PC format and that's it for console games.
Devs just need to develop for Xbox PC, everything is play anywhere because it's just one licence, physical goes away completely and they likely don't make any more hardware outside of controllers but do licence the OS out for 3rd party systems.
Hoping the series X doesn't die so I can sell it for a decent penny with it's disk drive and the original box I kept when it's time to upgrade to the new stuff. Expecting Xbox ROG Ally X to be like $1.5K CAD after taxes at launch... hopefully it drops in price at some point. The current ROG ally X is $1.1K pre tax today. That's just dumb.

I've said it multiple times that I had no interest in this and was looking forward to the official Xbox one in a few years but after the showcase in definitely a feeling a little college girl curious about this. Definitely won't be a day 1 purchase, I'll hold out to see how it actually performs, costs and I'll need to see how much of an issue if any it being PC gamepass vs console this is for me.
@AlwaysPlaying I'll be there too. I've not played a GTA since PS2... I'm likely the wired one of out of the bunch but i most likely won't be playing GTA6 at all.
Gave it a B. It was the least exciting out of the past 3 years but it's still the best showcase around. There were a bunch of titles that weren't in gamepass shown and a bunch of stuff wasn't for me. Phil saying we're getting a Forza next year does get me excited for what's coming in 2026...and that handheld was actually better than i expected. I'm muting my chats, avoiding all gaming media until I watch it on YouTube later that evening. I have a week in July where I'm home on my own and I'm playing this then.... really looking forward to it...so happy it's not a 100hr game as I wouldn't ever touch it then.
No. I want a handheld but i'm waiting for the official Xbox one. Even then I'm under the impression it's going to allow me to play gamepass games offline with relatively no fuss in doing so...no tweaking and twerking required. Otherwise that will also be a no.
None, that's $125 after taxes in Canada. Gamepass or i ain't playing it unless it's an indie for $30 or less that I really want. I already have too little time to play what's in gamepass so no way I'm paying $125 to play something outside the service.
Best show in the business and the one I look forward to. Only shows i really watch are the Xbox ones, everything else i just watch whatever trailers look interesting but the Xbox shows i actually mute chats for and watch the show spoiler free from start to finish.
I imagine we're going to see FF7 get announced at the showcase..16 as well. It's a little too late for them though so hopefully they aren't expecting big sales, gamepass would be great but I don't think that's happening.
I've actually never finished a gears game yet! I've installed it twice since then to finally play it but with the new version coming i once again deleted it and will play it through for the first time this year.... hopefully
@PlatinumMikey i think i would actually be able to double or triple my gaming time with a handheld. Native, offline gamepass games on the crapper...yes please.... also why can't i feel my legs?
