Forza Horizon 6's Map The 'Biggest Yet' As Dev Confirms Tokyo City Location

Details were light on yesterday's Tokyo Game Show reveal for Forza Horizon 6 - but a new interview with outlet GamesRadar gives us some more context on the game, and its much-anticipated Japanese location.

First off, FH6's rendition of the Asian nation is big, the biggest in Forza Horizon history. While developer Playground Games hasn't gone into much detail about the exact nature of the map, the scale of it sounds a step up for the team, as does the game's main city location.

"This map that we've created for Japan, or Horizon's version of Japan, is big, but also dense. There's always something around the corner for you to discover and see. And also one area I'm really excited about that is also bigger, is our urban area, which is Tokyo city. That's the biggest city that we've done in a Horizon game yet."

That's Tokyo City confirmed, then, and it sounds as though the city's winding streets and complex verticality will all be built into the game too. Playground has shared some of the tech from Forza Horizon 5's Hot Wheels expansion to "build elevated roads that weave and web around Tokyo City" - and that city location will be supported by lots of other uniquely Japanese touches as well:

"Japan's a breathtaking location, but I think they'll be surprised just how much more of the culture we've tried to integrate into Horizon 6 [...] I think people will be surprised; they'll probably learn a bit more about this location than they might expect."

If you're keen to eek out every tiny detail on Forza Horizon 6 so far, the full interview is probably worth a read - and now the agonising wait for some proper gameplay is upon us. In the meantime, we've shared some other information on the game's location — and the nature of Xbox's PS5 plans — down in the related links below.
