Well folks, we're getting a Call of Duty movie!
It's been announced today that Paramount and Activision (via Microsoft) have inked a deal to bring the Call of Duty franchise to the big screen, with Variety reporting that the deal could also expand beyond a single movie in the future.
For now though, the idea is for Paramount to "develop, produce, and distribute a live-action feature film", the details of which we really don't know anything about yet.
Here's a bit of what Paramount's CEO had to say in a statement though:
"Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly."
Activision president Rob Kostich also commented on the announcement today, mentioning that his team will work with Paramount to "take that visceral, breathtaking action to the big screen in a defining cinematic moment".
Of course, it sounds like this is all very early days right now, so don't go expecting to see a Call of Duty movie in 2026 or anything. Clearly they see a lot of potential in the idea though, and they've certainly got big expectations to live up to.
In the meantime, you can obviously get your Call of Duty fix with Black Ops 7 this November, and we'll keep an eye on the movie news and let you know in the future when we hear something more substantial on it.
