Poll: How Would You Grade Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2025 Event?

Obviously it comes down to your personal tastes, and the games you will play. So, unfortunately, I gave it an E.

The only game I will play a bit of (until I get bored!) is Forza Horizon 6.

Personally, I preferred the PlayStation showcase yesterday where there were 2 exclusives I will definitely buy on my PS5, and then 1 game I will definitely buy on my Series X, as well as 2 other games I may buy on my Xbox. There were literally no games that I would buy shown in the Xbox showcase (and only 1 that I might play on Game Pass)...

They need to stop bringing Phil & the gang to the Tokyo Game Show. If they want support from Asia. It should have been Mena Sato Kato's show today.

Nice that MHS1 and 2 are coming to Xbox. And RS2 remake, as well. But, man. What a bad show. 0% passion, 100% marketing: even Suda telling "whishlist now!". Yuck!

I don't mean to be funny, but the Microsoft announcement for Flight Simulator 2024 coming to PS5 and PSVR 2 was genuinely more hype than this entire show.

Good to have Forza Horizon 6 confirmed though.

Was never going to be anything special really and didn’t expect anything.
FH6 was nice to see, maybe gameplay next time.

More interested today now to see how Ghost of Yotei reviews at 2pm UK time.

Compared to other Xbox Tokyo Game Show events, it really wasn't as bad as people are saying here. Maybe a solid C+. Xbox TGS events never have major new game announcements, so I wasn't expecting anything crazy. Plus, MS doesn't normally announce new first-party titles at these events, so FH6 being revealed here is a plus.

I would say it was slightly better than the awful State of Play yesterday, as I was expecting a lot more from that one. Romancing Saga 2, FH6, and Monster Hunter Stories 1+2 got me excited way more than anything from the SoP, so there's that.

If you want to see what a bad Xbox TGS event looks like, you should've seen the one in 2023. They announced literally nothing there, aside from like Octopath Traveler 2 on Xbox and some Yakuza games on Game Pass.

I give this the same grade I gave the PS one yesterday. Its a solid Meh.

One stellar title, but far off. (Forza ofcourse), and a bunch of "not really my kind of games".

Very blah to be honest. It was the worst xbox stream in several years now. Hopefully they get back to form in January. Very surprised they did not announce the ROG Ally prices.

I woke up early for this, disappointed with the show. Very few new games, almost nothing new for Game Pass.
It was at least better than yesterday's State of Play lol

Problem is that Xbox has had so many awesome showcases in the last few years that they set the bar high. So outside of FH 6, this was a bit disappointing. Thought they’d be showing more of other games they’ve been working on. Guess it maybe was due to the Japanese focus. I don’t know.

But super excited for FH in Japan!!!

Definitely sounds like not something I need to waste my time on to watch this later on. The February and Summer showcases are the only one's that they really put emphasis into so I'll just watch those

In reality, the Tokyo Game Show has always been very boring due to the over-presentation of Japanese productions. It's basically a conference addressed to the Japanese public. And we have to be honest, Japanese games are, well, rubbish. Not at all my taste. Soporific. Identical. This fast, insipid music, the same effects, the same animations seen and reviewed a thousand times, what a visual and sound overdose! Indigestible.

Give us Perfect Dark, dang it!

C for me. It was more appealing than Sonys stream, but also not that exciting.
Forza Horizon 6 war clearly the highlight.

And Ninja Gaiden 4 isn't far anymore.

I'd go a solid C/B. It wasn't earth shattering but it was decent enough.

TGS is always the worst of the year

Thought it was a bit pointless as a showcase. Should have just had separate reveals.
I couldn't quite understand what was meant by , ' the fastest growing region for Xbox'?
Surely that's got to mean pc and not console judging by the weekly Japanese charts via gematsu.com.
Tgs highlights for me so far are Sega reveals and Tiny Metal 2.

I've been thinking why the State of Play which are usually meh have been better than the last few Xbox events. I think length is starting to affect pacing. One hour for updates is too much. It didn't work for Nintendo either. Especially when first party is quite visibly absent (seriously where is Fable?).

Regarding why Forza Horizon 6 fell flat is because it leaked more than a month ago. Literally the worst kept secret. But Wolverines SOP announcement was also leaked by Insider Gaming, so why did that still generate hype? That's because closing out on a narrative action game will always look cooler than a racing game despite knowing Forza Horizon 6 will be massive and amazing. Sometimes you cannot beat good old fashioned violence and spectacle.

You have to compare what’s actually comparable. This is the Tokyo Game Show, so it’s focused on Japan-related games, which naturally limits the scope. You can’t compare this showcase to a full-fledged Xbox conference — you can only compare it to other TGS presentations, like PlayStation’s or previous Xbox TGS events. And in that context, I’d give it a solid B. There were a lot of games, including big ones like Ninja Gaiden 4, Bruce Lee in Hitman, Black Ops 7, Gungrave, 007, and some new titles that really piqued my curiosity like Fatal Frame II, Project Evilbane, and of course Forza Horizon 6.

The disappointment was not seeing any gameplay, but since it was the very first FH6 trailer, that was kind of expected. Plus, they’re clearly saving the gameplay reveal for a Developer Direct or a proper Xbox conference — not for TGS, which makes sense.

Now, when I compare it to PlayStation’s TGS, you honestly can’t give Xbox a D. Because if you do, then PlayStation deserves a G — they showed a bunch of uninteresting games, barely redeemed by Wolverine, which is just over-the-top gore and has already been announced years ago.
