Over the weekend, there was a lot of rumour and speculation that both Target and Walmart might be pulling their Xbox products, with one particular Reddit post getting a bunch of attention after it was suggested that someone's local Target store had been "getting rid" of their Xbox section.

Here's a look at the post that primarily sparked it all it off:

Following this, various outlets started reporting on the post and it snowballed into something that attracted a lot of social media interest. However, the likes of Destin Legarie and even former Xbox employee Major Nelson advised that they couldn't see anything about Target and Walmart pulling their Xbox stock at first glance.

In fact, Destin called both Walmart and Target and was advised the following:

And finally, just a few hours ago, Microsoft decided to provide an official statement to Windows Central based on their report of the situation, clarifying that both Target and Walmart "remain committed partners" for Xbox products.

Here's the statement in full from Microsoft:

"Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games."

This isn't the first time we've seen Microsoft reply to rumours this month, with another statement being shared back on October 6th denying that the next Xbox console was being cancelled.

In terms of the Target and Walmart rumours, they were probably spurred on by Costco recently pulling stock of Xbox consoles in various regions, so it stands to reason that Target and Walmart could have been preparing to do the same. Nevertheless, Microsoft suggests that's not the case - or at least, it won't be a permanent thing.

Nevertheless, there are Xbox fans who insist their local Target stores in particular have been looking empty in the Xbox sections recently, so here's hoping that becomes less of an issue in the coming months - we'll have to wait and see!
