Re: Indie Devs Worry About What The Activision Deal Means For Xbox Game Pass

Korgon

These are fair concerns to have. Perhaps Microsoft could have something like summer of arcade from the 360 era to highlight indies on the service that can stand out? Or kind of like how Playstation did recently with putting Sifu heavily in the spotlight in some of their recent presentations. Hopefully they will figure something out.

Re: Halo Infinite No Longer In Xbox Live's Top Five As Player Numbers Decline

Korgon

I'm still getting in matches super quick whenever I play so I'm wondering if it's as bad as people are suggesting. One reason could be a lot of people have maxed out the battle pass already and are waiting for either an event like the Cyber event or the next battle pass.

That's how I engage with it. I love Halo but I like to play other things too. I'm playing Sifu for example on PS5 and February is going to be pretty busy for game releases so I can't say I'm too shocked to see it's numbers drop a little.

Re: Rumour: Halo Infinite Battle Royale Mode Might Be In The Works

Korgon

@Vepra
Well yeah duh but I'm worried the Battle Royale would then get all the attention as far as updates go while the rest of the game would get left behind as far as support goes. That just happened to COD recently. We have so many other options for fans of that style MP while classic arena shooters are kind of a rare breed these days.

Maybe I'm just part of that dying breed but I just can't get into Battle Royale games and I'd like Halo to not go down that path.

Re: Soapbox: Bring Back Guitar Hero On Xbox Game Pass For The Emo Teen Parties

Korgon

I'd be cool with them making the old ones backwards compatible but that's enough. Do we really want to devote resources to a new one? Maybe they could do like a Master Chief collection version of these games or something but I'm sorry I've been over this series for a while personally. That said if a new one is announced I'll be happy for the people that want it.

Re: Rumour: Another Xbox Franchise Is Getting A Remastered Collection

Korgon

Yeah Gears makes the most sense here. It would be pretty awesome too to have all the MPs of the Gears series rolled into one package. Well assuming it works properly anyway. Fable wouldn't really benefit too much in any meaningful way that I can think of especially since after 2 the series seemed to lose its way(Though I never played any of them after 2 so I might be wrong but 1 and 2 seem to be the ones most talked about).

Though please if you do Gears let the added content to Gears 1 campaign be optional. I hated that section in Ultimate!

Re: Feature: Alright, It's Time For Xbox To Make A Smash Bros. Game

Korgon

I actually really liked Playstation All-Stars and still want Sony to give it another go. I never understood the argument that only Nintendo can do this sort of thing. There's nothing wrong with competition. I love Smash but it's not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination.

Imagine if we had this sort of mindset when Street Fighter 2 first busted onto the scene. We wouldn't have Mortal Kombat or Guilty Gear or...heck maybe even Super Smash Bros.

So yeah absolutely bring on a Microsoft Smash clone. I'd love to see Master Chief throw a plasma grenade on Crash!

Re: Netflix Wants 'Best In The Category' Game Subscription Service

Korgon

@somnambulance
Sure I would have given Google more of a chance had they entered the market with a plan. It just seemed like they had no clue what they were doing from the get go. Streaming only was a terrible idea and yeah the fact that they launched with absolutely no software of note pretty much gave them no chance. Streaming works best as an added feature like how Xbox does it.

As for Netflix I guess I just don't have faith they understand the game market based off their last few attempts at putting out games based on their shows. I tried the Cobra Kai game that came out with a friend and was absolutely appalled at what we played. Just a terrible game which is a shame because Cobra Kai should have been pretty easy to make a somewhat enjoyable game off of.

But hey I'll still listen to their pitch if they try to get into it more seriously. I'll just keep my expectations in check.

Re: Activision Looked For Other Buyers Before Accepting Xbox Offer

Korgon

Wait... did people think this was a hostile takeover or something? I mean of course Microsoft would be interested in them as a major gaming platform but Activision is a publicly traded company. If it was a hostile takeover it would have played out similar to what Ubisoft faced a few years ago against Vivendi.

There Vivendi was trying to take control of Ubisoft by force by acquiring the most shares of the company. Ubisoft fought back by buying enough shares themselves along with Tencent and eventually Vivendi backed down. In this case though the board wanted to sell so Microsoft taking over would not be considered hostile.

I know it is easy to hate the big mega-corperation but Microsoft simply was interested, had the means to do so, and had a willing seller. It's as simple as that.

Re: Talking Point: Is Forced Cross-Play On Xbox Becoming A Huge Issue?

Korgon

Even as a PC user on Halo myself I definitely understand both sides a bit on this. I understand why console players want a choice for the reasons put in the article.

I can see it from the dev side as well though wanting to force it as it helps populate all the gametypes more with more players.

Hopefully 343's cheater fix next month will kick the problem to the curb all together.

Re: Far Cry 6 Pagan Min DLC Out Now With Free Co-Op Pass

Korgon

I played a little bit last night. I really like the way they are doing these DLCs. The Rogue-like element actually works well for Far Cry and I enjoy the look into the back story of the villains. The Vaas one was really good but the Pagan Minn one was the one I was most excited for as Far Cry 4 is my personal favorite of the series and from what I played it didn't disappoint.

Re: 343 Industries 'Optimistic' On Halo Infinite BTB Fix In Upcoming Patch

Korgon

Sounds good. I don't really care for BTB anyway but good for the folks that do. As for the cheating I've been pretty fortunate in that I haven't run into too much of that lately but still interested to see what they have in mind to fight it come February. I'm most interested in when we could see more maps. Hopefully it won't be until May before we see new maps. Just two or three would go a long way.

Re: Pick One: Which Is Your Favourite Game In The Mass Effect Trilogy?

Korgon

The entire trilogy is outstanding. Still to this day the most ambitious trilogy of games I've ever seen but if I had to pick there's only one option, ME2 is still the best although 3 is damn close like just a hair behind it. ME1 is my least favorite but even still it's a fantastic game as well with the best villain of the trilogy.
