Re: Reaction: GoldenEye Is Finally Coming To Xbox, But It's A Rare Whiffed Shot For 007

Korgon

I loved Goldeneye back in the day. A true classic of the time but it's aged pretty badly over the years. I personally have no real desire to play it again. Plus I doubt the online would have been very populated at all anyway after a week or two.

Still, I get folks wanted that nostalgia kick in a new way from this release and there's no technical reason why it had to be this way so I get the frustration. Here's hoping the New Perfect Dark (whenever it comes out anyway) succeeds where this re-release of its predecessor could not.

Re: Talking Point: Which Of These Is Your Favourite Assassin's Creed Era?

Korgon

I've played the entire series (even Bloodlines on PSP). From AC1 all the way to Syndicate I was hopelessly addicted. There was just something so fun an exciting about having actual cities to run around and climb all over in. Blending in with the crowds, exploring the rooftops (or trees if we are talking AC3), having well thought out assassination missions... I just loved those things about the originals.

Origins and Odyssey kind of lost that spirit the older games had. I still got through them and thought for the most part they were okay but definitely my two least favorites. Valhalla however felt like it at least tried to implement (granted not executed as well) some of those classic elements along with the RPG elements so I actually ended up enjoying that one much more.

Mirage has me super hyped though. Looking forward to the reveal!

Re: Reaction: Can 343 Industries Deliver On What's Right For Halo?

Korgon

It's a real shame. The base of Halo Infinite is great, really great! But it's starved for content. Plus the cancelation of couch co-op, while it may not be as popular a feature as it used to be, is just unacceptable considering it was a feature the game was sold with the promise of it happening...at some point. It isn't happening now so the frustration is perfectly understandable.

As far as replacing 343 though, I don't know. Generally speaking I've personally liked their work for the most part thus far, but it's undeniable that post launch support is not their specialty. Sure one might say MCC begs the differ but that took over half a decade to get to where it is. Is that how long it will take to get Infinite to that place? I don't think it has that kind of time.

Re: Halo Infinite Local Campaign Co-Op Has Been Cancelled

Korgon

Man I love this game. I really do but this is a major bummer. It was also really sneaky how they tried to get through this news really fast in the video they released. Blink and you miss it. Some of the other stuff does look cool but...ouch...big ouch 343.

Re: 'Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty' Free Trial Arriving Ahead Of Xbox Game Pass Launch

Korgon

Team Ninja likes doing game trials like this leading up to launch lately. They did the same thing with Nioh 1 & 2 as well as FF:Stranger of Paradise. It's much appreciated and I especially want to try this one to see if they turn down the loot a bit compared to their previous work. That was my only real issue with Nioh. You just get showered with countless loot. I'm fine with getting loot just turn it down a bit. I don't need a new pair of useless boots every time I kill an enemy. 😄

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Admits The Game He Wants To Play Next Is On PlayStation

Korgon

Surprisingly even as a primarily Playstation player, my hype for God of War is pretty tame. I liked the first one a lot but for some reason I'm just not as hyped for the sequel. Maybe it's because Cory Barlog isn't directing it. That said I'll definitely end up playing it at some point I'm sure.

I'm much more excited for Soul Hackers 2, Trails from Zero and Plague Tale Requiem.

Re: Pick One: Which Of These Far Cry Games Is Your Favourite?

Korgon

4 is still my favorite. Kyrat was such an awesome setting. Pagan Minn is only behind Vaas for best villain and he wasn't cast aside too early like Vaas unfortunately was. I also appreciated the choice between tradition and progression for the story.

3 was revolutionary, but 4 ironed out all the issues with it to perfection. It's a great series overall though. Far Cry and Assassins Creed are the two Ubisoft series I always come back for.

Re: Xbox Boss Praises God Of War Producer Following Dramatic 24 Hours

Korgon

I can't understand how someone could get actively upset over a rumored release date reveal date. News Flash: Rumors can turn out to be untrue!

Some folks always say they don't want to know anything about a game until it's almost ready and then go and get upset when a dev essentially says "Hey. We aren't ready to talk yet but will get back to you when we are ready." And again it was just a rumor that it would be revealed that day, not fact.

You can't have it both ways. Just have some patience and let them work. There is no excuse to act so entitled.

Re: Gallery: Feast Your Eyes On These Brand-New Starfield Screenshots

Korgon

I'm torn on this game. On the one hand I love the look of the environments and equipment. The capital city reminded me of the Citadel in Mass Effect whichis a good thing. On the other hand, the combat looked like Fallout with jetpacks/high jumps. I never liked Fallout combat. I'm also not too into the build-a-base stuff and the procedurally generated planets.

Not sure I need to see more.

Re: Descenders Publisher Shoots Down Claims That 'Xbox Game Pass Is Bad For Devs'

Korgon

@Trmn8r
Hmm from what I've seen 50/50 seems appropriate. It has felt like every month there has been a report of a dev being happy with these deals and then the next month a dev not being happy with these deals. We also need to keep in mind that some devs might simply not want to speak ill of theses services so they don't burn any bridges with these big publishers.

Bottom line though if it works for the dev then great! If not...well not so great! 😄

Re: Descenders Publisher Shoots Down Claims That 'Xbox Game Pass Is Bad For Devs'

Korgon

@Trmn8r
I know there were other contributing factors as to why Outriders hasn't turned a profit but that wasnt the point I'm trying to make. You said it yourself GP doesn't guarantee success. That's the point I'm trying to get across. I'm not trying to attack GP. I'm just saying there have been enough stories related to GP (and Playstation Plus free monthly games as well) to tell us that the upfront payment MS or Playstation offer with these services isn't as full proof of a deal as some folks think is all.

Re: Descenders Publisher Shoots Down Claims That 'Xbox Game Pass Is Bad For Devs'

Korgon

I think we have seen enough stories from devs on both sides of the argument to confirm that GP works well for some, not for others. This dev is clearly happy with the deal but then there's stories like Outriders where being GP was not enough to make that game profitable which I would imagine is part of the point of GP from a developer perspective. Get an upfront payment for your game to ensure it will at least make some profit.

Sure there's different budgets for different games to consider but at the very least it's not a perfect system but then what is? If you don't release on GP then you need to convince customers your product is worth the money the dev is asking for which isn't easy. There are pros and cons to GP like any other service.

Re: InXile Defends Xbox In Response To 'Game Pass Fodder' Comment

Korgon

These people do realize there are games to play outside of what Game Pass offers right? If there's nothing you like on the service un-subscribe and find something else to play until something you want to play does get on the service.

No need to make snobby remarks to devs on the service just because your upset there isn't anything that interests you on the service.

Re: Don't Expect As Many Showcases This Year, Says Geoff Keighley

Korgon

This is perfectly fine. I love Capcom but it seems like they only have one or two games ready to show at a time. There isn't anything wrong about that but it did seem like they felt the need to really stretch the presentation out longer than it needed to be. I think this course of action fits their studio output much better.

Re: God Of War Creator Slams Xbox Boss's Response To Bethesda Delays

Korgon

Maybe a bit over the top (Jaffe has always been that way. The man has no filter.) but perhaps there is some truth to his words. There's no doubt Xbox has struggled to get 1st party software out in a timely fashion. That said though I don't think the blame lies solely on upper management.

I think the reason Playstation and Nintendo don't seem to have this problem just comes down to their studios being really good at what they do and their development studios have worked with their publishers for many years now and are comfortable in that environment. Most of Xbox's studios are new to the Xbox 1st party ecosystem so I'm not too surprised there have been some growing pains.

Plus to be fair this is Bethesda we are talking about. Perhaps the game simply looked too much like a typical Bethesda bugfest and so Phil decided to delay it. Bethesda really needs to prove themselves with Starfield to many folks and releasing it in buggy fashion is the worst way to go. It needs to be polished!

Re: Sony CFO Says That Game Pass-Style Launches Would Cause Exclusives To 'Deteriorate'

Korgon

To their credit as much as I love me some Halo and Gears I tend to get much more excited about Playstation's games than most of Xbox's 1st party. They make great games. If putting it out on subscription is not how they want to do it then as long as the game justifies the price I see no issue paying a premium for a premium experience which more often than not Playstation does deliver.

If Xbox can afford to put it out on GP then great I'll play it that way. Both ways of doing things are perfectly valid as long as everyone gets what they need out of the deal.

Re: 343 Admits Halo Infinite S2 Launch Has Been Bumpy, Says It's 'Reviewing Options'

Korgon

I've just resigned to thinking I must just be playing a different game than a lot of folks at this point really. It's got issues of course but I haven't seen anything really worthy of the constant negativity towards the game. I'm sorry to see folks not enjoying it as much as I am but I hope 343 doesn't let it get them down.

They have a great game that just has a few issues here and there. All they need to do is keep at it and it will work out in the end.

Re: Certain Changes Are Proving Unpopular In Halo Infinite Season 2

Korgon

I surprisingly like Last Spartan Standing more than I thought I would considering I usually don't enjoy BR. My biggest problem with it is just the way equipment is aquired. There's too many Overshield and Cloaked players going at a time. Perhaps maybe tying them to the load out tiers would be a possible solution or simply just make them more rare.

Haven't had the chance to dive into the other modes yet but it's good to be back!

Re: Rumour: Warner Bros' Game Studios & IP 'Supposedly' Up For Sale

Korgon

This is actually insane to hear it's even a possibility. NetherRealm alone brings in big consistent cash with MK alone and they want to sell? Sure Rocksteady takes time to put out games but they are one of the most respected developers in the business and all of their games thus far have been great to incredible. And Harry Potter looks great too!

To hear the competition is immense for possible buyers is certainly not surprising.

Re: Halo Infinite Players Share Their 'Disappointment' Over 2022 Roadmap

Korgon

My main issue is just two new maps until November. Everything else I'm fine with. The ideal situation would be maybe two new maps and then also bring in three classic maps or something along those lines. I'd love to see how Lockout for example plays with the grappling hook and the repulser and whatnot!

Still I'm excited to get back in and the narrative events could be cool.
