Re: Microsoft Blocks Access To 'Retail Mode' Emulators On Xbox Series X|S

@ZuneTattooGuy
It's not that hard to understand. Some people just like to play the classics every now and then and Xbox proved to be a convenient modern place to do so for many of these titles that otherwise are difficult to play today.

New games are great too but there's nothing wrong with wanting to experience older titles as well.

Re: Halo Veteran Joseph Staten Has Announced He Is Leaving Microsoft

Korgon

@BrilliantBill
Ah yes the classic "I'm done with this series! Dead game!" and yet continue to play that series for years to come gamer. Street Fighter V had the same folks saying that five years later and yet they continued playing and are hyped over the moon for 6.

I never understood why people love to call an online game "dead". If the servers go offline then you could call it that but if people call Halo Infinite dead that's just silly. Has it had issues? Sure but it's far from dead I'd say.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Buy Less Third-Party Titles Because Of Xbox Game Pass?

Korgon

The thing is for some titles a Game Pass launch makes sense. A game like Hogwarts Legacy for example was always going to do well anyway but for random Indi game that has no marketing budget? Taking the Game Pass deal might make more sense as they will have a guaranteed sum of cash they will earn with no risk required. On the flip side they also essentially doom their product from selling well on Xbox as well as PC to an extent by doing this.

So in the end here's the question every game developer/publisher has to answer. Do I take a set sum of cash and just put my game on GP or do I take my chances on the open market? That's the long and short of it.

As for myself I don't really like subscription services for games so I purchase my games.

@Stoned_Patrol
I believe you are referring to Six Days in Fallujah. As for what happened to it no one really knows its been on total radio silence since it's re-reveal.

As for MOH 2010 I actually really liked this one. The single player was well done as well as the multiplayer. I even got the Platinum on PS3! Never gave Warfighter a chance due to the less than stellar reception to it but part of me still does want to randomly try it one day. I know not likely.

Anyway RIP MOH. You were one of the good ones.

Re: Xbox Research Survey Asks Fans If They Are 'Done Playing Halo Infinite'

Korgon

For like 3-4 months after launch I was absolutely addicted. I couldn't get enough. The thing that drove me to stop playing eventually was just how familiar I became with the maps and how small of a variety there were. Then to add to that only getting 2 maps at most after months and months of waiting and eventually I just lost interest.

That said I had a wonderful time while it was fresh. I bought the campaign on steam and don't regret my purchase one bit. I'm sure I'll get the itch to play it again eventually...assuming they don't abandon it.

Re: Early Impressions Of Xbox's Hi-Fi RUSH Seem To Be Pretty Good

@Snake_V5
Oh. I just assumed you didn't have an Xbox if you were asking if it was on Playstation. My bad. I get having a preference on where to play things. But yeah I would have expected it to be mentioned if it was coming to Playstation somewhere so I wouldn't hold my breath on it showing up outside of Xbox and PC.

Re: Early Impressions Of Xbox's Hi-Fi RUSH Seem To Be Pretty Good

Korgon

@Fenbops
I think there was a leak or something mentioning this game on PS+ which had folks hoping it was already under contract to show up on Playstation before the Bethesda purchase. I doubt it was true but I can understand folks wishing it would be. The game looks like an absolute delight!

Re: Halo's Joe Staten Provides Update Following 343 & Microsoft Layoffs

Korgon

@Moonglow
I don't think I'd go so far as to call the single player a masterpiece but I did really enjoy it. The multiplayer was awesome too but I agree it was the long term support that dragged it down, not the actual multiplayer gameplay or anything.

I do think 343 gets a lot more vitriol than they deserve sometimes. I mean sure they aren't perfect but I can't say I've regretted any purchase of a game from them thus far so that has to count for something.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Producer Says 2023 Will Bring 'Long Awaited' Announcement From Konami

@NEStalgia
Well to be fair, MGS1 had a dude with mind control and telekinesis powers, a giant man that has a strange spiritual connection to ravens, and a guy that can copy people's looks, voice, and even DNA to disguise himself perfectly. Plus clones galore! Oh and who can forget nanomachines? Or the infamous box trick?

MGS has always been pretty weird along with the more serious military bits of the story but that's always been part of its charm for me. Realistic in some ways yet completely bonkers in others.

And sure I know technically Kojima was still a producer on Portable Ops but he technically had the same role in Revengance. Point being he took more of a backseat on both games and both turned out well. It could happen again but we shall never know unless we try!

Re: Metal Gear Solid Producer Says 2023 Will Bring 'Long Awaited' Announcement From Konami

Korgon

@NEStalgia
Heh well I won't deny Kojima's games are definitely an acquired taste. MGS1 was legitimately the game that got me into gaming in the first place though so I just find it a bit sad to see it just collecting dust. Plus as synonymous with MGS as Kojima is, it wouldn't be the first Kojima-less directed MGS ever.

Portable Ops is honestly one of my favorites in the series and while I personally wasn't too fond of it I know people really like Revengance (I know, it's technically a spin-off but still.) Now yes obviously Survive missed the mark but hey 2/3 is pretty good right?😅

Point being I don't think it's as impossible as people seem to make about a Kojima-less Metal Gear. It just takes the right people involved. But like I said if it's bad we are just back to where we are now so why not I say!

Re: Sony Reveals Xbox Game Pass Has 29 Million Subscribers, Admits New PS Plus Tiers 'Substantially' Behind

Korgon

@ValentineMeikin
Well to be fair when PS+ first launched they were the first to start offering free games through a subscription. Good games too. Microsoft answered back with Games with Gold and at first it was pretty good...but lately it's been pretty useless ever since Game Pass came around.

Plus Playstation was the first to offer a duel analog stick controller layout along with four shoulder buttons which has become the standard for the entire industry.

All of the big three have contributed something to bring the industry to where it is today.

Re: Talking Point: What Kind Of Review Scores Do You Think Sonic Frontiers Will Get?

Korgon

I salute the brave 2% that believe it will be a 10/10! I'm rooting for the game big time but if I had to guess it's going to be 7 or 8 generally speaking. Some sites out there really have a hate fetish when it comes to Sonic that will drag the metacritic down a bit.

Yes, there have been some duds but the narrative that Sonic has never been good is just nonsense. I'm looking forward to it but I'll probably be playing God of War first next week.

Re: Reaction: Is 30FPS Good Enough For An Xbox Series X|S Game?

Korgon

The best solution is to keep doing the "Performance or Quality" method and just keep it a choice for people. I generally prefer 60 of course but I've gone the other way before. I just did so with Soul Hackers 2 since 60 fps didn't really make much difference anyway with a game like that.

Re: Microsoft Bites Back As Sony Reveals New 'Call Of Duty' Concerns

Korgon

Regardless of how you feel about this whole ordeal it's pretty difficult to argue that COD isn't significant. Playstation makes a **** load of money off of COD. There's a reason the rest of Activision's games aren't being brought up ever in these talks. That doesn't mean that those other IPs are bad or anything but they just dwarfed by the importance of COD financially.

There's hypocrisy, half-truths, and outright lies coming out of both companies over this whole thing but that's just...you know...business. COD being very significant however is undeniable.

Re: Google Stadia Is Shutting Down, Which Is Good News For Xbox

Korgon

I doubt there was enough people using Stadia to really make a blip on any of its competitors as far as customers moving to another service. Google is giving refunds across the board for it. It's a great gesture for sure but I'd imagine they are doing that because so few people signed up for it anyway that they aren't really losing any sleep over the money lost on it.

Re: Digital Foundry Says Halo Infinite Split-Screen Is 'Excellent', 343 Declines To Comment

Korgon

How strange. It sounds like it's fine even on Xbox one all things considered. Plus they already put in all this work anyway, why scrap it? One answer I've seen is so they can focus on live service elements but again if that was the plan why not cancel long ago instead of pouring resources into it up to this point? If it was super buggy and whatnot that would makes sense but it works fine.

Something fishy is going on here!
