Re: Feature: Pure Xbox's Game Of The Year 2021

Korgon

There simply was no other choice for number 1. I'm primarily a Playstation player but Halo Infinite not only made me not use my Playstation in a good long while, but reminded me of how much fun an FPS can be. Congrats to 343 and Microsoft for putting out a real gem this year!

@Richnj
I differentiate between typed words and spoken words. I agree with monitoring comment sections like this where words would stay forever including the unfriendly comments.

However spoken words over a mic simply come and go...well unless you record it anyway like in this case but that's just how I see it. Just ignore the bad actors and move on.

Re: Xbox Creator Demands Action As Sexist Xbox Live Recording Goes Viral

Don't get me wrong. These idiots are terrible and should reevaluate their priorities in life but I don't agree with the idea of any company being able to control what people say and don't say online. I'd recommend people just use the mute option for people like this. That's what works for me and then I laugh as I imagine someone yelling at nothing!😆

Re: Pick One: Which Is Your Favourite Assassin's Creed Xbox Game?

Korgon

AC2 is still the best no question in my mind. Great story. Great characters. Great setting. Great mission design. And most of all not bloated like the newer ones are these days. Sure the controls are a bit old by today's standards but AC2 to this day is one of my favorite open world games.

Re: Halo Infinite Players Find A Way To Glitch Into Campaign Co-Op

Korgon

I'm saving my Legendary playthrough for co-op. One concern though I've found most open world co-op experiences to be kind of lacking. I don't like Far Cry co-op for example because there's just too much stuff and it's hard enough finding the time to play together with friends on it so we end up not making much progress until eventually we move on to other things. Sure Infinite isn't a huge open world game but I worry that the same problem I got with Far Cry co-op will carry over.

We will see how it all turns out though soon enough.

Re: Halo's Live-Action Series Won't Be 'Core-Canon'

Korgon

I think this is a good choice. As much as I enjoy Halo lore it is pretty complicated and would be difficult to bring in newer viewers that never played the games. It also helps interest myself as now I have no clue what's going to happen whereas if it just followed one of the game stories I'd already know the story.

I'm actually more excited for this approach than what The Last of Us has going on on HBO.

Re: Hellblade 2 Dev Confirms There Were 'No Tricks' In The Gameplay Reveal

Korgon

I'm kind of surprised people didn't think this was actual gameplay. Ninja Theory has always made super pretty games. Heck Heavenly Sword came out early on PS3 and I'd argue visually it looks just as impressive as some PS4/Xbox One games. Hopefully my computer can run this one! If not this might give it a shot on the cloud.

Re: 343 Industries Issues Final Halo Infinite Update Before The Holidays

Korgon

Surprisingly last night was my most frustrating night yet trying to complete the challenges. It was always "Win this mode in ranked" and I only like to play Ranked with a party since it's so intense so I used not one, not two, not three but four challenge swaps I'd saved up to get anything outside of ranked and I ended up getting the original challenge I wanted to avoid in the first place!🤦‍♂️

That said I still had fun though! Happy holidays 343 and my fellow Spartans!

Re: Pick One: Which Is Your Favourite Xbox Matrix Game?

Korgon

I have a huge soft spot for Path of Neo. Sure it had problems but I absolutely loved how hard the devs tried to recreate some of the most iconic parts of the movies. The part in Matrix Reloaded where Neo faced off against hundreds of Smith clones was really impressive for the tech it was on! Sure if you watch it now you can see the smoke and mirrors they used to trick my young mind into thinking I was actually fighting hundreds of Smith clones (in reality it was more like ten🤣) But as a kid I was blown away!

Re: Don Mattrick Discusses The Failures Of The 2013 Xbox One Launch

Korgon

I give him props for being part of the documentary considering he has kind of become the prime example of how not to run a video game business. Funnily enough the always online requirement kind of happened for both Xbox and Playstation just not on a system level but on a software level. His main fault in my eyes though was how much he hurt 1st party development for Xbox. The Coalition and 343 were pretty much carrying the brand for a while there. Sure they had some 3rd party deals here and there but none really worked out too well with Scalebound being a prime example.

Re: It Sounds Like Quantic Dream's Star Wars Eclipse Is Still Many Years Away

Korgon

I remember reading in an article a while ago around Detroit Become Human's release that Quantic Dream was moving to multiplatform releases going forward so im sure this one will be on Xbox...assuming it gets off the ground. I'm honestly kind of surprised Quantic Dream has been able to survive this long with how big the budget for their games are plus how niche their games are. Loved Heavy Rain for what it was back in the day but their more recent games haven't grabbed me as much.

Re: Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Is Receiving Four New Playlists Next Week

Korgon

Sounds great! Though I'm already at level 50 in the Battle Pass without paying more than the initial $10 to get it. With them making progression even easier
I'm afraid it's almost inevitable that the next argument will be "Now that I finished the Battle Pass I got nothing to play for until Season 2! Hurry up and get Season 2 out!"

Don't get me wrong these improvements sound great. I just got a bad feeling that sort of attitude is coming sooner rather than later.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Says Console Wars 'Don't Help The Industry Grow'

Korgon

When I was a child I cared about console wars, then I grew up. Now I just play what I can where I can. Sure I'll always have preferences. I generally play on Playstation the most but I still enjoy Xbox games now through my PC. It's been a while since I fired it up but I dabble with my Switch as well when something strikes my fancy there too.

It just doesn't matter folks. They're just games. Enjoy them!😁

Re: Halo Infinite Dev Issues Lengthy, Passionate Response To Multiplayer Criticism

Korgon

Whew I tell ya people really don't know how good they got it these days! Back in my day with multiplayer shooters sure character customization was in the game already but you know what wasn't? All the maps. Map packs were pretty expensive especially considering you would only be able to play with people who also had said map packs. It was pretty disheartening to spend $10-$15 on a map pack just to realize now you have to choose to play between the haves and the have-nots.

But with Halo's current business model, that's no longer an issue. New maps will just be added naturally free of charge so everyone can play on them. And since it's free to play that's perfect for someone like myself who used to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold every now and then only when I planned on playing something online for a while. I plan to come back to Halo much more often for multiplayer now since I no longer need to deal with that.

As for the "What have 343 done for 6 years!?" question the answer is pretty simple. Building a brand new game for multiple console/PC configurations with a new approach to the campaign from previous Halo games along with equipment that probably required new physics which required a brand new engine to be developed in tandem. That takes time folks and I'm sure there are many other reasons for a game of this scope to take so long to come out.

And then really? The Playlist situation is THAT big a deal to folks? 343 has already said improvements like the precious Slayer Playlist are on the way just be patient.

I give devs so much credit it takes a special kind of crazy to want to go into this business. I originally wanted to be a game developer growing up until I tried actually building a level, not even a full game from scratch. I realized pretty quick I'd have been miserable for the rest of my life if I went into that field and quickly shifted gears! 😂

Don't let them get to you 343 you have done a great job so far. Highly looking forward to the campaign this week.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Halo Infinite's Metacritic Score Will Be?

Korgon

I haven't been this excited for a FPS game in literally decades and plus the mostly positive word of mouth around both the MP and the campaign previews mean I'm expecting somewhere in the 90s.

I'd be extremely shocked if it isn't at the very least considered 343's best work even as someone that mostly enjoyed Halo 4 and 5 well enough. Hopefully this one let's them really step out of the shadow of the bungie games.

Good luck 343!

Re: Halo Infinite Multiplayer: How To Mute Other Players

Korgon

I generally only talk in party chat but the one time I did chat in-game everyone said I sounded like a robot. Weird because in the party chat everyone says I sound fine.

Anyway I only had one toxic experience with some moron saying I wasn't pulling my weight in an oddball game even though I had more kills and I held the ball longer than him.🤦‍♂️

Some things never change I guess!😂
