Rumour: Halo Infinite Battle Royale Mode Might Be In The Works

So, yesterday we learnt that developer Certain Affinity is reportedly working on a 'Monster Hunter style' Xbox exclusive. Frankly, that sounds awesome, but it's not all the team is seemingly developing for Xbox.

Windows Central backed up that initial rumour via their "own separate sources", and then went on to reveal something new. That very same developer is possibly working on a new game mode for Halo Infinite, which the site says could be a battle royale.

"Certain Affinity has long been a close partner of Microsoft, working on various Halo titles from Halo 2, through to the Master Chief Collection to Halo Infinite. I've received some separate hints that Certain Affinity may also be working on a new game mode for Halo Infinite, which could be a take on the popular battle royale formula or something completely different entirely."

It could also be another mode entirely, but it's likely to be a big undertaking if the mode isn't being directly developed by 343. The map design and mechanics needed for a battle royale are something completely different to what's already in Halo Infinite, so it makes sense on that front.

We're quite excited by this one. Battle royale may be getting a little tiresome generally, but one tied directly into Halo Infinite's amazing mechanics? We'll take that any day of the week. We're already thinking about those grappling hook plays...
