Yeah I highly doubt this is an exclusivity deal. The game is announced for Xbox and is still coming. The devs have said it just requires further optimisation (in other words, the Series S) so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't say that if it was because of a deal that was cut.
They would say something much more vague like "For now we are strictly focused on the PS5 version" or something along those lines to make the deal holder, which would be Sony in this case, happy. This has the BG3 situation written all over it as far as I can see.
Expedition 33 was definitely the highlight for me. That game looks incredible! Perfect Dark had the best showing of the 1st party stuff if say. Really impressed by what was shown there. Gears E-Day is a bit of a lame announcement. Fable looks pretty good. Overall a pretty solid show and definitely the best of the week.
It's definitely pretty for sure but...I don't know. Something still feels a bit off about it. I can't put my finger on what is but I'm not totally sold yet. Maybe a proper gameplay demo would do the trick.
I love Gears but this is pretty lame in my opinion. 5 ended on such a cliffhanger and now we might just never see the end? I'll still play it since the gameplay will still be good I'm sure but my hype is completely out the window unfortunately. Marcus and Dom are great but their story is finished. I had moved on but I guess nostalgia is a powerful drug.
This is a pretty rough time for industry to say the least. This team didn't even do anything wrong yet need to lay people off because they can't find work? A team that has consistently helped in development of some of the biggest gaming series out there? That is definitely concerning for sure.
It's a terrible name no doubt but there is a fighting game series called Under Night In-Birth(no shade, great game, just another terrible name) so at least it isn't alone.đ
An unforgettable experience. I hope they figure something out to get it available again. If there was ever a game I'd call "required playing", Spec Ops The Line would certainly be my personal choice.
Wow. A bit of a heads-up would have been appreciated 2K. I already have it thankfully but this is legitimately one of the best narratives ever made. A real shame.
While this obviously is unfortunate news to hear and my heart goes out to the folks affected, this shouldn't come as a surprise. A giant corporation was absorbed by an even more giant corporation. There was always going to be some overlap there.
Hopefully this is it as far as Xbox layoffs go at least.
It was a good show for sure. Hellblade and Indy look excellent! Still not really feeling Avowed personally and the other one is just not my style at all so I just kind of checked out during that part. Still two out the five are right up my alley! Can't be upset about that. Good stuff.
They actually did the same thing for the original as well although that cost $30 if I remember correctly. Still, that was an independent Ninja Theory at the time. It's strange that they would do it again with Microsoft backing them this time.
He sounded perfect for the role from what we heard in the trailer. I doubt Harrison Ford would have had much interest anyway in doing this. Overall I think they handled it perfectly. Get Harrison Ford's likeness, find a suitable young voice for Indy.
It seems kind of pointless to me personally. It's pretty easy to avoid online toxic behavior in video games ever since party chats became a thing. Plus nowadays with cross-platform play being a thing you need more accounts than just Xbox Live to play anything not directly from Microsoft which makes receiving hate mail much more rare too.
I honestly don't remember the last time I experienced toxic behavior online in a video game on any platform really. Hopefully people won't abuse the system and report players just for playing well in a session. That would be my main concern with this.
My buddy and I took off to play Gears 5 at launch...unfortunately the Game Pass launch had issues with authentication and we didn't get to play it that night. âšī¸
It was a bummer but hey eventually they fixed it and the game was pretty good even though I had quite a few bugs during my playthrough. I intend to go through it again though before Gears 6 comes out some day.
More recently, Street Fighter 6 although I got that on PS5. That on the other hand had a super smooth launch and I took off a week for it. Honestly one of the best weeks of gaming in my life!
Ummm...exclusives have been around long before Sony entered the gaming business. Plus while it would be nice to just play anything anywhere that just isn't a possible reality. Exclusives are the main reason why Nintendo hardware still sells. I'd never buy Nintendo hardware if I could play Mario on a Playstation or Xbox.
Heck one of the primary reasons Xbox was able to get a foothold at all in the industry was by securing Halo as an exclusive. A very strange take from this guy.
@MetalGear_Yoshi Normally I would agree with you thinking there is no way Acid 1&2 have a chance for Volume 2...but then I saw Volume 1 includes Snakes Revenge.đ
If that game can come back then I could see the Acid games making the cut after all!
Some folks just are never going to be happy. I thought it looked pretty great myself. The music choice is just for the trailer. I highly doubt Jay Z will be blasting throughout the entire game.
People beg for a new Prince of Persia for ages and when they finally get one they want to snuff it out before it even has a chance? I just don't get it.
I really hope Fable shows up in a big way. No offense to Starfield but Fable always has been right up there on my favorite RPG list along with the likes of Persona 5 and FFX for me. Really rooting for you Fable!
@Kaloudz I'm pretty sure it's you-be-soft. The way I remember is because they chose that name to call back to the fact that their games are available on many platforms in a "ubiquitous" fashion.
Yeesh ease up everone! He is just saying he prefers the other model of game sales as opposed to the subscription model. No need to get defensive about it.
I can see where he is coming from. It's no secret GP hurts sales. That's just something devs/publishers have to decide on when choosing how to make a profit off of their game. Do I take a risk and try to sell potential customers on my game to make possibly more money? Or do I take an upfront payment to ensure I'm at least somewhat profitable no matter what?
There's no wrong answer here. Both are perfectly valid ways to do business.
Yeah I'm good. I've reserved myself to only checking out Infinity Ward's COD games. Both Treyarch and Sledgehammer entries just don't do it for me.
That's also pretty shocking they would let Sledgehammer touch the MW name. Of the three devs Sledgehammer has always struggled a bit to keep up with the other two so I'm surprised they are letting them anywhere near their most popular sub-series of COD games.
I can't imagine it will be better received than Zelda and I say that as someone who just liked BOTW, not worshiped it like the second coming of Christ many in the industry felt about it. There's definitely a bit of a bump Nintendo games get in reviews compared to the other two.
Bethesda has always been pretty hit and miss ever since Skyrim and if I'm being honest, I don't have much faith in Starfield to be better than just good. Would love to be wrong though.
Yikes the conversation around this game has become an absolute dumpster fire. The devs aren't happy. The players aren't happy. The publisher isn't happy. Heck even the dev's peers aren't happy.
I don't really know what to say. Just... what a mess.
Honestly this one would convince me to get an Xbox more so than even Starfield. Hellblade 1 was among my personal favorites of the last generation and with Ninja Theory's track record I find it very difficult to see this one disappointing.
I always felt like Ninja Theory never got the appreciation they deserved. I've been a huge fan of their work since Heavenly Sword back in the early PS3 days.
I don't really see the point considering how well they still hold up. Gears is still the the pinnacle of cover-based TPS games. To me the 360/PS3 generation isn't as unplayable as some people make it out to be but that's just me. I know remakes are hot right now so I wouldn't blame them for doing one.
I respect his opinion...but I strongly disagree that people wouldn't come to Xbox if they had a big game to be excited for. The digital library argument might be something to be concerned about but I really doubt it's that large of a portion of the gaming community. If it was that big of a deal Nintendo would be absolutely screwed! Their consoles almost never carry over your purchased libraries. It's Nintendo's quality of their software alone that keeps people coming back.
Same really goes for Playstation as well. It's the quality of Playstation exclusives that bring me to the platform.
No one is saying putting out a system seller is easy but great games are 90% of the formula to having a successful platform. Xbox should know this better than most considering it was Halo that provided Microsoft's original Xbox with it's "killer app".
Definitely expecting 30 fps. Would love to be wrong but I don't see it. My hopes go as follows
It's at least a VERY stable 30 fps. Keep the drops to a minimum. If 60 fps is not possible this is the next best thing.
2. Keep the bugs to a minimum. Part of the reason people were excited to see Xbox pick up Bethesda is because they thought the polish level would go up for a studio that is notorious for buggy game releases. Starfield is a massively ambitious looking title so expecting absolutely zero bugs isn't a realistic expectation. But as long it's not constantly happening, people can forgive the occasional NPC ice skating across the moon/planet.
3. Just create a great fun RPG. Obviously easier said then done but Bethesda Game Studios has done it in the past (though granted it's been a while but still) and hopefully they can do it again.
I'm rooting for Starfield even though I'm what one would probably call a lapsed Bethesda fan. The last game they made I really enjoyed was Skyrim. Hopefully they can get some of that magic back.
Well the first step to coming back after a disaster like this is admitting you made a mistake. I applaud his attitude about it. Hopefully they figure out what needs to be done to be absolutely sure Starfield does not repeat the same mistakes made with RedFall.

I don't see it happening knowing Bethesda. Honestly if Starfield just comes out and doesn't break that would be a step up for them. All of their previous RPGs always felt like they were being held together with duck tape.
Starfield isn't primarily only a shooter though so 30 fps might be a bit more forgivable there. Plus it just looks really ambitious. Redfall on the other hand looks like it will lean on its combat for most of the game so no 60 fps option hurts it much more.
Shooters, racing, beat-em-ups and fighting games are the four genres that require 60 fps. Everything else for the most part can somewhat get away with it.
While 60 fps missing at launch is a big turn-off I don't know if I'd say it necessarily warrants a delay just for that. I've personally never really been too interested in the game anyway and the lack of a 60 fps option at launch basically solidifies I will not be playing. For folks who are interested that want 60 fps though, I mean, you could just wait for the patch to release.
Now that said, Halo Infinite also promised splitscreen co-op and...well...look what happened there. Either way it's not a good look for Microsoft.
Oh dear. This poor game just can't catch a break can it? It's very surprising considering it isn't really all that graphically impressive honestly. Don't get me wrong it's not ugly but this isn't Plague Tale Requiem we are talking about here! Plus it's a shooter. Shooters are one of those genres that 60 fps are more required for.
