Re: Talking Point: Do You Own Any Xbox Games You've Never Played?

XxEvilAshxX

Plenty. Though to say I've never "played" them would be disingenuous. I usually play anything I download for at least a few minutes. That said, there are many that I've purchased, downloaded, played for a few minutes, then set aside to come back to later.... and I just haven't yet. Death's Door, Divinity OS II, all three Dark Souls games, Pillars of Eternity... the list goes on and on.

Re: Damning Report Takes Aim At Xbox's State Of Decay 3 Studio

XxEvilAshxX

I can't help but wonder if it's a result of complacency as a result of having that 800-lb gorilla footing the bill. The studio heads no longer have to fight tooth and nail for every dollar they can get, and just kinda get lazy and comfortable with just poking along. Microsoft is going to have to get their hands dirty. Uncle Phil needs to pull off the belt sooner or later.

Re: Perfect Dark Reportedly Led To 'Big Disagreement' At Xbox Studio The Initiative

XxEvilAshxX

Sounds like "too many chiefs, not enough indians" to me. Or "too many cooks in the kitchen." Pick your idiom. When you have that many high-profile developers under the same roof, especially in a creative environment, it's likely to be a train wreck. Everyone has their own vision of what something should be. The fact that they were surprised that development management was "top-down" says it all. Were they all expecting to be in charge?

Re: Konami Is Releasing TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection On Xbox

XxEvilAshxX

@KilloWertz Back in the 8-bit and 16-bit era, games were not 1:1 ports. The consoles had much different capabilities and sometimes the SNES and Genesis versions were even done by completely different development teams. So even though they were the "same game" they really weren't. Don't know if that's the case with Tournament Fighters but I wouldn't be surprised. As far as TMNT Arcade and Turtles In Time go, the SNES versions had longer levels than the arcade. I'm personally happy as hell they're including all the versions. TMNT Arcade is one of the only reasons I keep my X360 plugged in and Turtles in Time Re-Shelled was awful.

Re: Grid Legends Free Trial Is Now Available On Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

XxEvilAshxX

Played a few of the story chapters and it's classic GRID, which is a good thing, and what I played was pretty fun. I just don't think it's got enough punch to compete with GT7 and FH5. Graphically it's nice looking but not going to blow anyone away. I probably said it in a comment before, but Codies really, really needs a next-gen engine.

I would actually really love to see Codemasters make a racing game that's not a "racing" game. Something like the old Driver series or maybe even Smuggler's Run or Stuntman.

I don't hate the GRID or Dirt series by any means but I can't help but feel like Codies are in a rut... no pun intended.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Officially Revealed, No Word On Platforms Yet

XxEvilAshxX

Couldn't it be argued that Sony owning EVO and getting exclusivity to a fighter that is a big part of EVO could be considered a monopoly in the e-sports scene? I'm just saying this kind of talk can go both ways.

That said, I haven't cared about Street Fighter since Alpha 3. I was so hoping this countdown would be for something else.

Re: Dead Island 2 Could Finally Re-Appear Soon, Reported 2022 Release Window

XxEvilAshxX

A friend and I were just talking about this the other day while playing DL2. Since DL was an evolution of Dead Island and DL2 is an evolution of DL1, what could Dead Island 2 do to differentiate itself? If it doesn't evolve, the gameplay might feel inferior to Dying Light, but if they do evolve, would it just feel like Dying Light? Do they go more RPG? More survival sim? Or do they go smaller, more linear, and more focused? More setpieces? I personally kind of miss setpieces in videogames.

Re: Halo Infinite Fans Question Where The 'Live Service' Part Has Gone

XxEvilAshxX

Gamers: "Where's our content? WE WANT IT NOW."

Also Gamers: "You need to stop rushing out untested content! Did anybody test this at all? You guys suck."

I get that 343 made their bed and now they have to lay in it, but at the same time the gaming community can be the most impatient and whiney one there is.

Another thing to consider is that yes it's a live service, but there might be a cadence to releases that MS sets themselves. they have the ultimate live service to manage. Halo Infinite is a piece of that. So is Sea of Thieves. So is Forza Horizon 5. Maybe these things all operate independently, or maybe MS wants to space out their updates so they can stand on their own and not step on each others' toes. We just don't know.

Re: CrossfireX Is Out Now On Xbox, And First Impressions Aren't Good At All

XxEvilAshxX

I was interested in the Team Deathmatch, so I played a round on the cargo ship and it was the most awful map in recent memory. Tiny and linear and there was already a dude on the other team with a minigun that was absolutely shredding everyone. I was completely underwhelmed by it, but I figured "eh, maybe it's just a bad map, I'll try a different one." But I couldn't figure out how to try a different one. It just said Cargo Ship, and I wasn't gonna play that crap again.

It's unfortunate, but honestly I had pretty low hopes for a F2P shooter. Most of them are pay to win garbage, and this doesn't look to be any different.

I really do hope the MS Activision deal goes through, because then all the old COD's might get put on Game Pass and that will reinvigorate their respective online communities and I might get to play some of the oldies-but-goodies again.

Re: GRID Legends Is Bringing Chaotic Closed Circuit Racing To Xbox This Month

XxEvilAshxX

@Titntin This game comes out the same day as Elden Ring. I realize they're two completely different genres, but let's be real. Come Feb 25th the internet will be talking about one game and one game only, and it won't be GRID. I always wish Codies well, but they've always had budget issues, and its always showed in their presentation. With EA, they don't (read: shouldn't) have those budget constraints anymore. I WANT to see what Codies could do with AAA money.

Re: GRID Legends Is Bringing Chaotic Closed Circuit Racing To Xbox This Month

XxEvilAshxX

Codemasters needs a new engine. Time to stop wasting that EA money on live-action cutscenes and start pumping into some new tech. I have played and enjoyed every single GRID game even going back to the OG Pro Race Driver series but this game looks like a slight improvement over 2019 GRID, at best. I'll probably end up playing it at some point, and it will probably be fine, but if they don't want to turn into another Need For Speed dev they're gonna have to turn it up a notch (especially with the likes of GT7 and FH5 in the scene).

Re: Remember Microsoft Zune? Hyperkin Jokes About Bringing It Back

XxEvilAshxX

Zune was only a joke because of the goofy name. The device itself was awesome. I had an 80 GB and if it weren't for the battery eventually dying for good, I'd still be using it (because I still have it.)

If they did re-release it, even as a gag, I'd buy it again. Toss in Bluetooth and it's a no-brainer for me.

What people also didn't realize was that the Zune service was basically Game Pass for music. It allowed unlimited plays and ten DRM-free downloads a month (to keep) for like, ten bucks. It was a damn good service.

Re: Grim Dawn Gets Major Xbox Update, Includes New Graphical & Framerate Options

XxEvilAshxX

Somebody needs to send these guys a Series X dev kit. If not to update this game, but for a Grim Dawn 2 should they want to make one.

I pre-ordered it and my only gripe was the size of the UI, which they addressed in the patch. The unlocked framerate is nice, but there are hitches (since it's... unlocked) and I almost prefer the locked 30. Either way, though, I'm really enjoying it so far. The multiplayer works(!) and has been pretty solid for my two buddies and I that have been questing together.

Re: Grim Dawn: Definitive Edition Dev Warns Of 'Misleading' Reports As The Game Launches On Xbox

XxEvilAshxX

I bought it and have put a few hours into it. Its fine. Not amazing, but i'm enjoying it. It had apparently been in the works for a few years now, so they obviously had some dev issues. It works. The problem it has is a basic HUD scaling issue that (should be) relatively easy to fix. As far as the resolution/fps.. its an xbox one game. As in, 2013 VCR Xbox One.

Hopefully in the near future they'll gain the resources to give it a Series X optimization, but i read before the game launched that they didn't have a dev kit. They have been pretty up front about that, but i will admit their PR department needs a lesson in bedside manner. It would go a long way.

That being said, i knew nothing about this game prior to seeing it in the MS store. So i did research. I bought the game knowing what i was getting into. Sometimes people just need to do their due diligence and make educated purchases (or know when to wait).

Re: Some Forza Fans Say They're Getting 'Bored' With Horizon 5 Already

XxEvilAshxX

I'll be honest, my favorite system from Forza Horizon was the very first game where you had to level up to earn different colored wristbands, and each wristband gave you access to a new set of races. I really liked that system.

I also haven't play FH5 as much as I thought I would, and to be fair, I didn't play FH4 as much either. I think it really comes down to the fact that they inundate you with stuff to do from the get-go, and it's just kinda like you don't have to earn anything. There's nothing to work towards.

Also, they should have waited a week or two to start the seasons. Let us get through the story content first. That felt a little unnecessary, to have all of the seasonal things kick off right from the start, when you're still trying to get your bearings.
