@ZuneTattooGuy Indeed. I was a big fan of the first two TDU's and they had a lot of potential, but they ran like **** and the netcode was garbage. If they can manage to nail down a solid framerate and keep the cars from feeling like tanks on the road, I'll be all over this.
I love the Forza Horizon series, but I'll be honest; it needs a serious competitor. So far, the closest is The Crew and it just doesn't quite get there.
I hope this leads to Ubisoft going back to releasing more smaller, less "safe" titles like they used to. BG&E, Rayman, Child of Light, PoP: Sands of Time, etc. would never have a chance in hell of being greenlit in today's Ubisoft.
@LX_FENIX I really liked what they did with the Raid Mode in Revelations 2. To me, that was way more enjoyable than the Mercs mode. I would love to see them build on that, where you level up each character and they each have their own unique abilities, and the sole purpose is to survive. I've always hated the grading system in RE, and that's the entire point of Mercs.
As well they should've. Arkane's games usually don't have huge financial success, even though they're multiplatform. Focusing on one less platform was probably the better business decision regardless.
I tried playing it several times, and it's not that it was bad, but I just could never stay interested in it, which was weird since I played through the trilogy multiple times.
Car packs are nothing new to Forza Motorsport. They've been around almost as long as the series itself. Why anyone would be surprised by this revelation is beyond me.
Mikami made his mark. He helped shape an entire genre. For someone who has accomplished so much, it has to be difficult to stay motivated. That said, he wanted to make something different and his studio got to do that with Hi-Fi Rush. He could've intended that to be his swan song all along.
I think Tango will be fine without him, but it's always sad to see such an influential person leave.
Well Free Play Days gave me a zero investment opportunity to try out that new Saints Row game. It wasn't as terrible as I expected it to be (that's not to say it was great) but I will probably pick up on sale at the right price. I would've avoided it entirely otherwise. So there's that I guess.
Good. They need to start over from scratch. Then they need to ditch this open world Games As A Service bs and create a tightly written, exciting, epic LINEAR showcase that the series used to be. I think back to the "holy ****" moments in Halo Reach and Halo 3 and I miss those days.
So... I've never heard of this game. I clicked the link to the game in the article, and PureXbox has literally no information on it. It's still listed as "coming soon" and there are no critic reviews, user reviews, or anything else. I wonder if by "what should have been" they mean actually marketed and advertised? That affects business, no?
@themightyant Elder Scrolls Online might seem pretty niche if you're not a player, but there's a reason they keep featuring it in their E3 presentations and this dev direct. It has like 200k daily players and something around 20 million total. It's still quite successful, AND it's coming up on its 10-year anniversary, which is likely why they're building hype for an announcement right now.
And the "reworked" maps are still pretty bad. I went back and played some of it when came to EA Play but it still wasn't very fun. They really do need to cut their losses and stop sinking money into this trainwreck.
That actually bums me out a bit. I was hoping they were going to alleviate some of the repetitive, formulaic parts of the game (grab keycard, activate lockdown, kill waves of necromorphs, rinse, repeat) and that absolutely awful chapter where you have to stop moving the marker every ten feet to kill monsters.
I already own the original so if the only major difference is a graphics boost, I'll wait for a sale or EA Play.
Looking forward to Forza Motorsport. Turn 10 does amazing things with their usual two-year cycle, I'm interested to see what they've been able to accomplish with the extended dev time.
Finally... though I really don't understand why they insist on having these things in the middle of the day during the work week. It's all pre-recorded anyway, so why not Prime Time?
MS has to be aware of the rumors circulating regarding this "showcase event." If they didn't have anything planned, you'd think they would say so. If this month comes and goes without a peep from them neither confirming nor denying, I think it would look worse than just saying they don't have anything planned.
@Justifier It's one of the games in my backlog. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either. I do think it was a victim of being one of the first "next gen" games that released. I think a lot of reviewers were expecting it to be some innovative game-changing revelation, when in fact it's just a basic shooter. If that's what you're in the mood for, you could do worse.
This won't affect EA or Criterion in the slightest. These individuals weren't being allowed to do what they wanted anyway. I can't help but wonder if EA kept telling them behind the scenes that if they just did "one more NFS" they'd be allowed to work on a new Burnout or something, but of course it was always "one more" and they finally got tired of it.
I personally hope they left to create their own independent studio and will take some of the talent from Codemasters with them. EA will never let them make anything other than Need For Speed. That's never really been a secret, and the fact that EA now owns almost all of the third party racing developers has always kinda bummed me out.
FF7 has a heavy nostalgia factor going for it. It was the first FF with 3D characters. It was the first with cutscenes, orchestrated soundtrack, etc. It held many "wow" moments back in the day because nothing like it had been done before.
But FF6 is still the better rpg. But it's not on Xbox. So FF7 wins by default.
I wasn't as big a fan of the muppet baby storyline of FF8 and (hot take) I hated FF9's characters.
Well now that that argument is being made, I guess we won't be seeing a huge number of exclusives coming in the next year or so. Wouldn't want to deflate their own argument.
We have to keep in mind that this is the same FTC that is supposed to protect consumers against a monopoly, while also letting Ticketmaster unabashedly abuse its monopoly.
A price increase on anything is never fun, but it was inevitable. At least we do have Game Pass to soften the blow; The price increase on Playstation has removed a bit of the urgency for me to get a PS5. Perhaps by the time I do, they'll have some of their newer releases on PS Premium Plus Plus.

Ok... Fujimi Kaido has not only been mentioned, but is the second most requested. It's nice to see the FM community still has some sanity.

2K gonna 2K.
