As Halo Infinite Season 2 is being stretched out over the course of six months or so, many fans are wondering what content will fill out that gap. Naturally, the conversation leads to the return of classic maps; a question which Kinda Funny host Parris Lilly recently put to 343's Joseph Staten on an X-Cast episode.
Staten's response was pretty telling, even if the developer didn't give too much away. In essence, there are things he and the team can't talk about, but he does note how good it'd be to play on some of those classic Halo maps in Infinite.
"I can't talk about some things but I can talk about others. There are some great Halo maps, I think we all have our personal favourite. Guardian, [Blood] Gulch, The Pit, there are a lot of maps that are awesome, right? I think it'd be awesome to play on those maps again, don't you guys? That sounds like a fun thing."
So, yeah, Staten is basically saying the team is fully aware of how much players love those classic maps, hinting that 343 could definitely dip into the nostalgia well for more Infinite content.
Sadly, Staten doesn't give away any solid information on said maps, or when they might return. For now, we do know that Season 2 runs through November 2022, which is a lot of time for 343 to bring back some classics.

I think if Infinite's Forge is at least as good as Halo 5's Forge, we'll be seeing a huge amount of classic maps returning. Ones that 343 don't bring back themselves would be brought back by the community and then added to matchmaking.
@Grumblevolcano I didn’t play a tonne of Halo 5 but I have to admit playing the Forge version of Headlong was great. The colours were all off but outside of that it was really great to see the map again.
I started playing Halo in Halo 2 and playing BTB on Headlong over Xbox Live was mind blowing. It also became the map of choice for LAN games too between our friends.
I don’t know if we’ll see an official Headlong remake but I’d love to see it in Infinite.
Surely if they can get Forge out 'sooner' rather than later, that would help the 'lack' of content? I don't play Halo MP, never liked it and only bought Halo games because of the Single Player so what ever they do with MP, I couldn't care less.
People 'leaving' Halo could be people like myself who have finished the Single Player and moved on to whatever else they enjoy. Just because Halo is a FPS game also doesn't mean that its the 'same' as ALL the other FPS MP's to play. Its not the Same as CoD, BF, Apex, Fortnite, Destiny etc - it has its 'own' feel and flow that's not to my taste...
Oh I hope so! Not even from a nostalgia point of view as much as I just think so of those older maps would work well with Infinite equipment system. Lockout with the Grappling hook and Repulser sounds amazing!
Bring back everyone's favorite from Halo 3, Snowbound.
Isn’t that what Halo MCC was for? Infinite should be all new content.
I stopped playing Infinite to continue playing MCC. New version of old maps wouldn’t really tempt me back. There’s just nothing quite like Halo 3 multiplayer.
