Re: Xbox Game Pass Success Could Lead To Poor Imitations, Warns Publisher

roe

Imitations is probably the wrong word as, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't Game Pass one of the newest of the lot?

It's definitely interesting to see what happens over the next few years as subscription models really become a major player though.

I see what he's getting at with regards to what kind of deals will they offer developers/publishers when Game Pass is properly established.

Re: Here's What's Included In The Tony Hawk 1 & 2 Remaster Demo

@ralphdibny I think it's fair enough. It's just a little nod of nostalgia with a demo and gives fans something to play during the last few weeks before release.

Perhaps it would've been nice to put it out for free like a classic demo but it makes sense business wise

Re: Microsoft Teams With Samsung In New Project xCloud Partnership

If I was in the market for a tablet, I'd be tempted by the S7.

I don't think I'll get much use out of Game Pass on my phone as I'm not really into such a small screen (and my phone isn't exactly small either) but a tablet is another ball game.

If they bring it to iPad, I'd probably use it every day.

Re: Poll: Would You Trade Xbox Games With Gold For Free Multiplayer?

roe

Oh absolutely. I've got hardly any value out of GWG (or PS+) "free" games for a while now personally. Most of the bigger titles that come to these type of services I've already played if I have interest in.

With Game Pass around as well the games offered seem even less interesting usually.

But appreciate I'm somewhat privileged to be able to get a fair few games whereas others might be more dependent on the monthly games.

"Exclusive"

This is cool though. It's such a great game that taking a look at concept art, developer commentary etc is certainly worthwhile.

I think it sounds like the DLC is gonna be pushed til 2021, which is disappointing but it's good that they're making sure it's ready and not just rushing it out.

Re: Microsoft Responds To Negative Feedback For Halo Infinite's Visuals

roe

I'm not really a Halo guy so I guess all the little nods and visual callbacks wouldn't really do anything for me but thought it was a bit meh tbh.

The close ups looked pretty poor and while the open world looked fine, it was hardly mindblowing. Almost every other major FPS from this gen has looked better imo.

Obviously it's just a demo and is being played back on YouTube or whatever, but yeah.. it's no wonder they're getting questions about it. This was supposed to be their best foot forward.

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your Favourite Part Of July's Xbox Showcase?

roe

The 3 stand outs for me were: The Medium, As Dusk Falls, and Tell Me Why.

The Medium looked like it wanted to try something new, which should always be exciting. It also just looked awesome. Really hyped for that one.

The latter two just look like the sort of narrative games I usually enjoy despite their flaws.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade July's Xbox Games Showcase?

roe

I don't really understand the marketing plan either. I'd have thought they'd have wanted to go as big as possible to really make a splash in the mainstream media. It seems like they're always saying "and we've got even more to show later".. but when?!

I don't think there's anything here that's gonna make an article on the BBC for example, like the recent Sony showcase did.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade July's Xbox Games Showcase?

I give it a C. Cool that everything is coming to Game Pass. Forza, Fable and Hellblade seem like they're a long way off. Little reason to get a Series X early now.

The Medium looked very exciting.

Disappointed at a lack of personal favourites (ie no Banjo, Conker, Cuphead etc)

Re: Ubisoft Has No Plans To Increase Next-Gen Game Prices For Now

roe

I don't think the universal increase is gonna happen like many thought a couple weeks ago.

While of course game development costs have risen, a major reason for that is because the profits are hugely up as well.

I just don't believe it's a good move financially for the vast majority of games. They'll sell less copies early doors and even more people will just look to sales or buy less games.
