Ubisoft has confirmed it won't be increasing the prices for its next-gen games this fall (via Mike Futter, Jason Schreier).
This was revealed in a Q&A in the publisher's latest earnings call, in which the company explained that the prices of "the Christmas games" (such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion) will remain the same as usual.
This is in contrast to a recent announcement from Take-Two and 2K Games, which revealed that NBA 2K21 for Xbox Series X and PS5 would receive an increase to a £64.99/$69.99 price point later this year.
Ubisoft simply says it has no plans to increase retail pricing on next-gen games "for the moment."

I don't think the universal increase is gonna happen like many thought a couple weeks ago.
While of course game development costs have risen, a major reason for that is because the profits are hugely up as well.
I just don't believe it's a good move financially for the vast majority of games. They'll sell less copies early doors and even more people will just look to sales or buy less games.
Unrelated to this article but I'm fascinated to see how well the new Crash Bandicoot game sells at launch given the price it's being listed for.
Maybe this is due to games being cross-gen for now. But when its full exclusives I can see a price increase for sure.
Urgh, I've nothing but contempt for Ubisoft at the moment...
@roe Exactly, the better the price the more units they sell and more revenue they get. Remember, games are 50-90% digital (10-50% physical) and don't cost anything to replicate. They aren't cars.
So just 2K and apparently Activision so far to the surprise of nobody
@roe at that price I'm not even considering it
@carlos82 I'm considering it but only because it's a game I've wanted for 20 years. I may well wait now though as the asking price is a bit much for a game like that imo
