E33 had no competition as it's one of the greatest games of all time, but the rest of that top 5 is pretty sketchy.

2 of the best games on Xbox this year got zero recognition because they were playstation sloppy seconds, Helldivers 2 and Pacific Drive. Ffxvi could be added to this too.

I also think Battlefield 6 not just being a return to form, but beating CoD for the first time, could be given more attention.

I don't really play the games he made, but he was a titan that imo only the Houser brothers can even be compared. What I find incredible is that he built CoD into the unbeatable juggernaut that it is. Then this year CoD gets beat by Battlefield for the first time ever. OF COURSE it was Vince who had taken over, the only one who could top himself. Incredible loss for the industry.

@Fiendish-Beaver I usually don't care about modding games, but I have to say I loved XCOM 2 on PC way more because my squad had the voices of the casts of Mass Effect, Gears, etc. Even my Spark was Optimus Prime.

@dskatter I got my Series S for $150 brand new in March 2023. Switch 2's value is ass if you don't want a game boy, which I don't. You seem upset he's comparing these 2 consoles when that's the whole reason we're here.

Eyeballing Final Fantasy Tactics and Triangle Strategy pretty hard. Already bought Dave the Diver at full price for my wife, RIP. I have to say though it's pretty great!

We are so cooked. Like, I knew it was completely over at the 4 games announcement, and yet years later these little things still amaze me.

Oblivion Remaster, nothing else on this list could ever be within 1000 miles of GOTY, Oblivion swept them and was named PC Gamer's greatest game of all time. The remaster ran great but I didn't play it at release, I played E33 first which came out at the same time, so I had the benefit of performance patches.

@GamerScore200K I usually agree but just checked my wishlist and there's a surprising amount on sale. Might actually spend some money on this one.

Went with Helldivers 2. E33 is an all timer, but in a different way so is Helldivers 2. I love JRPGs but for me there's no beating a perfect coop game with friends.

They really should have ended on Total War 40K which was absolutely bonkers, or the Old Republic game. This game may or may not be good but it wasn't worthy of that spot and it actually hurt it because of expectations.

I hate the doritopope but between Exodus, Total War 40k, and Casey Hudson making an Old Republic game, that's an automatic A+.

@Fiendish-Beaver I put the last mortal Kombat on the lowest difficulty and blasted through the story. It was really stupid fun, I'll do the same with this one. Im terrible at these games.

Rog Xbox Ally X is not and has never been sold out at the 1 retailer that sells it in the US.

Multiplayer was IMO best of the entire series. It's why out of the gate it won the players choice GOTY at the doritopope awards. However they had zero content pipeline, and the game died.

The campaign imo was bad. Half baked (at best) open world, with story being delivered with WWF promos. They needed to put a Mean Gene grunt with a microphone standing next to the Brute for all those monologues. The whole thing felt like it was barely past the pitch stage. The gameplay of it was great, but that's not why I'm there. Multiplayer is for the nuts and bolts gameplay. I'm doing campaign for narrative and spectacle and it was bad at both. This is to say nothing of the missed opportunity for the Spirit of Fire to show up.

I can't believe even now there are people who don't understand how over this is.

Also I saw this after I got my kids their Xmas present, I might look into the nex playground for next year. Looks awesome, just not a fan of another subscription. It is hilarious that Microsoft lost 3rd place to a subscription based Kinect, a combination of their 2 arguably failed initiatives over the last 2 generations.

Tried OMD Deathtrap on release and it ran like total ***. Haven't had time to go back to see if it got better.

This show should have been 30 minutes. On top of the list being idiotic, the show itself was ridiculously boring.

One small bright note is they reminded me that Big Walk is coming and was announced for "consoles," I hope that includes Xbox because it looks amazing.

@Brigurugi GTAV and RDR2 were on game pass after release so maybe find a different indicator of a game's failure.

Never looked at this beyond the reveal trailer because it felt like they're trying to steal Wreckfest's success with that name. Same reason I'd never look at Stumble Guys.
