Re: 10 Discounted Games You Should Buy In The Xbox Spring Sale 2025

Jenkinss

I'm not buying Death Stranding unless I know the sequel is coming to Xbox. It'd be like buying Crisis Core.

Also, Outer Wilds isn't just the best walking sim of all time, it's considered by many the greatest game of all time. I liked What Remains of Edith Finch, but not as much as The Stanley Parable.

Re: Four Games Are Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass In May 2025 So Far

Jenkinss

I watched a video the other day with evidence that DOOM and Quake take place in the same universe and now I'm looking forward to the new one even more.

I liked the first Savage Planet, I'm glad the dev escaped Google after being acquired to make Stadia content. I'd like to play the sequel but not sure if I've the time.

Re: Bungie's 'Marathon' Gets September Release Date For Xbox, Closed Alpha This Month

Jenkinss

I've never played an extraction shooter and I'm not going to start now, but I do like this art style.

I've never owned a Mac, so I didn't play Marathon, but Ive seen retrospectives and the story seemed really interesting. If this doesn't continue it at all I imagine fans of the series will be as disappointed in this as I was with Phantasy Star Online. Which is to say, the most amount of disappointment possible

Re: Minecraft Movie Director Weirded Out By Cops Being Called To Cinemas

Jenkinss

@Zaphod42 for me it was the first Jackass movie opening night. Packed theater full of people drunk, and lots still drinking with booze they snuck in, everyone was laughing so hard they were crying. People laying on the stairs laughing so hard. It was an incredibly good time. Ushers I think just left the building 5 minutes into it, they weren't even going to try.

I think back then people just called the cops for real issues, at least that's how I remember it.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2's Crazy Game Prices Could Be Terrible News For Xbox Fans

Jenkinss

@cragis0001 Games take very roughly 3-7 years to dev, so the current sales apocalypse Xbox hardware has been having for the last 2 years won't really start to materialize as games skipping Xbox until next year. Any games already skipping (for sales reasons) are due to already poor sales dating back to the Xbox One.

To me, it feels about the same as it's been. But I know where it's headed unless MS gets a console out the door fast that runs Windows games (which all signs point to that being the plan).

The only thing I'd be interested in at launch is Mario kart world, and I'm not paying £500 for one game

this is me exactly, I only ever play Mario Kart on all my Nintendo systems since Gamecube. Maybe a little Pikmin. Hard to justify this right now in my family.

I said this last gen too, I really wish Nintendo would release a screen less, battery less version with no portability. I used my Switch once ever in handheld mode. It's a complete waste of money for me and I'm sure im not alone.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 5-6)

Jenkinss

So for maybe the 2nd time in decades I'm playing a free weekend game. I roped in a few friends to try Age of Wonders 4, we set up a lobby and are playing PBEM - my fellow geriatrics will know that is play by email. The idea being none of us have any time, so we'll run a campaign, you get an email when it's your turn, and it should be a fun slow burn of a turn or 2 per day for months if we buy it. Loving it, the faction creation alone is worth the price of admission. Half of us on PC and half on Xbox, gotta love crossplay.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2's Crazy Game Prices Could Be Terrible News For Xbox Fans

Jenkinss

@cragis0001 It's not really an argument, it's just numbers and what is actually happening. Things have gotten worse this gen, but last gen was already terrible. Look at FFXV sales, a game that Xbox had exclusive marketing rights for. It's bad.

So even a large install base like PlayStation's doesn't automatically mean success.

This is obvious. The vast majority of Android and iphone games fail. And yet (while it was around) almost no one ported their games to Windows phone.

How many of those players played Worlds or Rise through Games Pass or PlayStation Plus. Enjoyed them & saw the value of the previous games then decided purchased new ones.

I don't know and neither do you. I'd love to know the breakdown in players by platform.

Re: Here's What Might Leave Xbox Game Pass In May 2025

Jenkinss

I really loved the first half of Lords of the Fallen, but it overstayed it's welcome a bit and then the completely non existent ending pissed me off. I understand there are multiple endings but I'm sure as hell not going to play through again to find out if they're good.

I liked the first half enough to be excited for the sequel.

Re: After Three Months, These Are The Top 10 Xbox Games Of 2025

Jenkinss

After going ham in 2024 and buying/playing a ton of games at release, here I am again in 2025 back to my old ways, I haven't played a single thing released this year yet. On the single player side this year I finished up Metaphor Refantazio and Songs of Conquest, and my co-op group is still finishing up For the King 2. On this list, I really want to get to KCD2 for single player and Monster Hunter for co-op.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Be Willing To Pay $80 For Xbox Games?

Jenkinss

Pretty sure I paid more than that for the Phantasy Star games, and that's not even adjusting for inflation.

Hypothetically I'd be happy to pay it if the game was complete, no microtransaction nickel and diming after purchase. Unfortunately that isn't reality, the industry will jack prices while cramming more microtransactions.

Re: BAFTA Announces List Of Top 21 Most Influential Games Ever

Jenkinss

Quake should be #1. The amount that it innovated in online gameplay with native tcpip with Quakeworld, shooter mechanics with the z axis and controls, and 3D graphics with id tech 2 which influenced EVERYTHING. Kbm WASD controls. Everything before Quake feels ancient, everything since Quake STILL feels like Quake. Quake invented esports, who can forget Thresh winning the Ferrari?

There is nothing in the history of video games that has influenced like Quake.

Re: Three Xbox Games Are In The Top 10 Pre-Orders On PS5 Right Now

Jenkinss

@armondo36 literally zero chance of that, they make a tiny fraction of what they made from 93 to 96. They're a blip comparatively. You can't be serious.

When you have a successful platform, you're taking in pure profit on every 3rd party game sold. It's a far different equation when a massive cut of your revenue is eaten by game dev.

Re: Sea of Thieves Already Has Next 5 Years Planned, Starting With Xbox Exclusive 'X Edition'

Jenkinss

Played it a bunch at launch with friends casually. The skill ceiling in the game is incredibly high. Every game session ended with other people dunking on us easily taking all our stuff. We never had any intention on "getting gud" so we just quit. My understanding is after years of people begging Rare added PVE modes but unfortunately that ship has sailed - pun intended.

There is a game coming called Jump Ship. It looks like Sea of Thieves + FTL. It looks like the game I've been waiting for my whole life. They released a 10 minute gameplay trailer recently and I was glued to my screen the entire time. Coming to both Xbox and PC. Here it is if anyone is interested.
