Re: The Witcher 4 Dev Says Tech Demo 'Doesn't Represent The Game' In Bizarre Interview

Jenkinss

So, I'm not saying this wasn't a tech demo, the rest of this is almost certainly hypothetical.

If CDPR showed off what was literally the game, I still feel like at this point, they would start disclaimering it with things like this, it's not the final game, it's a tech demo, etc. Yes, Cyberpunk they rightfully got destroyed for. But people forget (not CDPR, they remember) The Witcher 3. They showed off the game, and then the final game looked slightly worse, and people lost their f**king minds. The griffon is SLIGHTLY LOWER RES OH MY GOD, WE GOT SCAMMED. The backlash to that was so beyond idiotic. I don't think CDPR will make that "mistake" again.

Microsoft have seen where the real money is to be made

The real money is to be made by being a platform holder. Apple, Google, Sony, Valve, Nintendo. Do zero work, have zero risk, take 30% of everything. Sadly Microsoft failed at this. They are transitioning into becoming a larger Activision. That was never where the "real money" was to be made. They have seen where the most most money they can make is, since they failed at growing their platform.

Just look at their mobile ambitions, which are very clearly not to keep only putting their games on ios and android stores, but to have their own store, and have been fighting for this since the King (with Activision Blizzard tossed in) purchase.

Re: Surprise! Black Myth: Wukong Finally Has A Release Date For Xbox

@theduckofdeath 1000%, and then finished the job with $299. Sony fights wars to win them, they're ruthless and underhanded. The idea that they wouldn't do this absolutely masterful move to obliterate sentiment in the Series S (the best selling Xbox) is so beyond naive you can't even deal with these people.

Re: Surprise! Black Myth: Wukong Finally Has A Release Date For Xbox

Jenkinss

And you know what else, head in the sand crowd? Why don't you look at it from Xbox's side?

How did Microsoft react to BG3 getting delayed on Xbox? Phil Spencer went on a public tour, doing interviews, in 1 of them I remember him sitting in front of a crowd telling Destin Legarie they were doing everything they could to get BG3 on Xbox ASAP.

How did Microsoft react to Wukong getting delayed on Xbox? A MS spokesperson stating they "prefer not to comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders." Phil Spencer shut down any questions about the game in interviews with 3 word or less answers.

What would anyone have to gain by hiding a deal?

Are you serious? It's the perfect campaign to torpedo the Series S. Here's a high profile, which became a GOTY contender game, and they made the narrative that Xbox doesn't get these games because Series S can't run them. This is Sony to a T. They killed Sega and the Dreamcast with their FUD campaign, just ask Peter Moore, he's always happy to tell you about it.

Meanwhile, what would announcing that they paid a bunch of money to keep it off Xbox gain them?

You guys have this so backwards, it's unbelievable.

Exactly 1 year after the release, but attacking people who think Sony had a hand in this, are the same sort of people who attacked anyone who said Covid probably originated in the Wuhan Covid research lab and not the Wuhan food market that was selling bats. Use your head, good lord lmao. Respected journalists like Digital Foundry had been saying this without giving up sources way before this 1 year "coincidence" lmao.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Metaphor: ReFantazio On Xbox Game Pass?

I played it last year. I give it an easy 10, and it's my 3rd favorite JRPG in the last 2 years. THAT'S how good of a stretch it's been for JRPGs. What a time.

@Lrapsody it isn't apparent at first, but when it's all said and done there are very similar themes in both games. They come at it from very different angles and you won't see it until it's all said and done, both games really reveal themselves at the very end.

Re: Xbox Has Reportedly 'Sidelined' Plans For A 2027 First-Party Handheld

Jenkinss

This is somewhat predictable, they never would have allowed the Asus thing to go out with Xbox branding if they were serious about a real, Xbox handheld. I kept asking how could they be so stupid? Turns out they weren't. Should have seen this coming.

It's also a sign of where things are going, for the "it's only 4 games" crowd that is always behind on understanding we are and where we're going. The people still absolutely certain we are getting another Xbox console, because "Microsoft said.". That's 2 cancelled hardware projects in a row scrapped (the other being keystone). That's not even including the mid gen refresh that got leaked in the FTC trial that obviously has been cancelled.

There is a very high likelihood of Microsoft doing to the next Xbox what they just did to the handheld: scrap their own, go OEM with it, and let other companies slap an Xbox sticker on their devices.

Re: Hellblade 2 Is Getting A Physical Release On Xbox, But Not By Microsoft

Jenkinss

@Ricky-Spanish Xbox had exclusive marketing rights to FFXV. If you're not aware, go look at the sales breakdown. The gap has gotten worse since then. And look what platforms the 3 FF games since then were released on.

I buy a lot of Xbox games, too. Last year I think everything on my GOTY list was purchased. Unfortunately, neither you nor I are the average Xbox owner in 2025.

Re: Best Xbox Survival Games

Valheim was my favorite on this list. The fact that I could host a private server on PC and my friends could connect on both PC and Xbox was huge and as far as I know unique.

@PJOReilly no Terraria? I don't love playing it with a gamepad but other than that, it's an all timer for sure. There's a crossplay patch coming and I'm hoping that like Valheim I can do a crossplay private server.

I also really enjoyed No Mans Sky and am looking forward to their next game. And while I didn't play it, I watched my wife go through Subnautica and that for sure wins best story on this list .

Re: Hellblade 2 Is Getting A Physical Release On Xbox, But Not By Microsoft

Jenkinss

Xbox gamers at this point don't even buy games (physical or digital) in meaningful numbers because they've been conditioned to play what's included in their subscription. If games that aren't even on game pass don't sell on Xbox, something not only is on game pass, but was already on it for a year, has no chance. Maybe a super collectors edition with physical goodies for the mega fans.

Re: These 20+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (May 26-30)

Jenkinss

@Fiendish-Beaver can't swear by this but I feel like I read that in addition to
being designed for 3 players, it's also playable solo, but not designed for 2 players. Don't take my word for though it's just something I feel I read in passing.

I dearly love Elden Ring and Dark Souls but after the beta, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to rope my friends who aren't really souls game fans into it. Remnant might be as close as I can get them.

Re: Xbox Reportedly Been 'In Talks' Over Putting Steam On Next Console

Jenkinss

@HonestHick this is actually brilliant. MS has shown they are "done" with Xbox (not talking about MGS, I'm talking about Xbox, the console). They'd happily use its corpse as a tool to bust into mobile. They spent $70B to bust into mobile, after all, and the courts have not helped them at all since.

This makes so much sense.

Re: Xbox Reportedly Been 'In Talks' Over Putting Steam On Next Console

Jenkinss

@Titntin haven't read through all the comments but my speculation is that they already don't sell games in meaningful numbers in their platform, not as much would change as people think. Just like this gen, it'll be a game pass machine for a large majority of owners, but now the ability to buy/play other games as well - which Xbox owners at large have proven time and again they no longer do.
