Pure Xbox's Game Of The Year 2025: The Results You Didn't See

Yesterday, we published our Pure Xbox Game of the Year results for 2025, and the winner was crowned as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 by a huge margin (no surprise!), followed by Xbox first-party titles Avowed and DOOM: The Dark Ages.

The GOTY feature is always focused on the games themselves rather than the statistics behind their rankings, so we're using this article to share exactly how you voted on the top ten, as well as the titles that didn't make the list.

Let's start with the games with the most votes this year. As you can see below, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ran away with the votes just like Indiana Jones in 2024, but the rankings were quite close in the middle.

Game Votes Score
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 613 10.95%
Avowed 405 7.24%
DOOM: The Dark Ages 328 5.84%
The Outer Worlds 2 270 4.82%

So what happened to the likes of Split Fiction, Blue Prince and Hollow: Knight Silksong? Well, all of those games made the top 15, just barely missing out on tenth place. Both Keeper and Gears of War: Reloaded also made the top 25.

Here's a look at the results for 11th-25th, with the overall number of votes in brackets:

Notable games that didn't quite receive enough votes included The Alters (57), THPS 3+4 (50), Grounded 2 (45), Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (42), Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii (41) and Sonic Racing: Crossworlds (40).

In 2026, we're hoping the likes of Halo: Combat Evolved, Fable, Forza Horizon 6 and/or Gears of War: E-Day will be in the running for Game of the Year, although they'll have stiff competition from Rockstar Games' GTA 6!
