Re: Xbox Announces Social Clubs Will Be Removed From Consoles In April 2026

Jenkinss

@Elbow let me start by saying I never used this feature. But the reason it's underutilized is because it's been left to rot.

The easiest way for me to try to explain how I feel about this is, let me compare it to a feature I loved on Xbox 360 - avatars. I loved seeing them on my friends list and loved using them in various XBLA games. Then Microsoft left them to die, and updated them in the most off-putting way for Xbox one while simultaneously abandoning them. So when Xbox got rid of avatars last year, you could have the same reaction - this feature is dead, so the move they are making is logical. The problem is the reason the feature is dead is that they murdered it through neglect.

When MS makes it official that they are no longer making consoles at all, we will have the same reaction, hey it's logical. The rub is that MS's incompetence is the reason it's logical to put it down.

Re: Here's What Might Leave Xbox Game Pass In March 2026

@Elbow I doubt it, I'm an old dude who's favorite genre is CRPGs. I played through Tides of Numenera engaging in combat I think 5 times total. My favorite game of all time is probably Outer Wilds which doesn't even have combat. This isn't an ADD kid issue. It just didn't grab me, the setting didn't interest me as much as I hoped and it felt kind of sterile to me I guess.

Edit: I'm playing Pathologic 3 right now. Nothing to do with quality, by comparison Atomfall is for small children.

Also, I hope this didn't come across as hostile. I've said nearly the same thing to people who haven't liked some games, like RDR2 comes to mind, so I understand the implication. Just making it clear that's not the case here.

Re: Report: Microsoft Is In The Early Stages Of 'Expanding' Xbox Game Pass

Well never know the numbers again but it's certain they're hemorrhaging users rapidly between the price hike and people abandoning Xbox hardware. I think the combination of the current user base evaporating, and their move to a "PC" next Gen which presumably won't need any type of sub to play online, means a total overhaul of game pass is absolutely necessary.

Not interested in gimmicks like gyro or haptics but back paddles would be highly welcome.

@TheOldHunter4K there aren't"high end" battery packs that last anywhere near as long as my aa batteries. It's not a child's toy, so get some eneloop pros. They have 5 times the capacity of the dualsense edge. 3rd party sellers inflate their numbers and even their fake numbers don't approach eneloop pros.

@themightyant it's obvious it's true just from Phil Spencers own mouth, he has alluded to it many times since things fell apart. There was a completely sudden emphasis on "we're a business, we need to make money" in nearly every interview. This was a subject never really talked about outside maybe him dancing around repeated questions of game pass 's profitability. You barely need to read between the lines.

Re: Albion Online Is Finally Making Its Xbox Console Debut After Nine Years

@Shinato2024 they're just releasing games that were already third party, though. Nothing changed in the cadence of game releases from existing MS studios. How does that benefit us?

Oh wow they were able to release Doom the Dark Ages but only since it's on Playstation, yay! How is that different than when id was 3rd party?

"The competition" releasing just a few games means they get everything here, plus those few games. You can't even call them competitors because Xbox threw in the towel and stopped competing.

Re: Xbox Achievements Have Been Visually Redesigned, Showing Up In The New Cloud Gaming UI

Jenkinss

@Fiendish-Beaver Totally agree. I hate how Microsoft invented this, Sony copied it and added a great addition, and MS said F*** it what we have it good enough. Instead they could have leapfrogged Sony back by adding platinum, and then an additional award for completing all DLC (if Sony has that feel free to correct me).

I think saying you got a platinum/1k in a particular game is more meaningful than "i have x hundred thousand gamer score!" Like who cares.

Re: Talking Point: Will The Next Xbox Console Be Revealed In 2026?

@GeeEssEff show some respect, that intern's name is Aaron Greenberg.

The only thing I disagree with you on is marketing after ps6. If it launches to backlash and is DOA, there will be no getting momentum back even if PS6 is also expensive, imo. Look at Xbox One which a year in had decoupled Kinect and at that point was a perfectly fine console. It never recovered.
