Re: Official PlayStation Website Adds Big Xbox Advertisement For Helldivers 2

@TrollOfWar It isn't. That's not what a first party game is. First party has nothing to do with the IP. First party is a game developed by a developer owned by the owner of the platform, that's it, that's the entire definition.

People use the term 2nd party for this exact situation, because it's technically third party but obviously the relationship is closer than that.

Spiderman, which Sony does not own the IP, made by Insomniac for Playstation in 2018, was a 2nd party game
Spiderman 2, which Sony does not own the IP, made by Insomniac for Playstation in 2023, was a 1st party game.
The difference is Sony acquired Insomniac in 2019. Zero to do with IP ownership.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying Black Myth: Wukong On Xbox Next Week?

@Ricky-Spanish I sort of agree unless the game changes the formula significantly. My favorite by far is Remnant (2) which focuses on guns, a sci fi setting, replayability, and co-op. I've played plenty of others which just feel like "mom we have dark souls at home" and for the most part I don't have time for them anymore

Re: Expedition 33 Dev On Turn-Based JRPGs: They Became 'Uncool' In Xbox 360 Era, Still Haven't Fully Recovered

As graphics improved, the vast majority of JRPGs went full weeb bait and alienated a lot of long time fans. Thankfully those of us who grew up playing the oldies but never took to Chinese cartoons have been served very well with Like a Dragon and Expedition 33.

Regarding Xbox 360, it was home to one of my favorite JRPGs The Last Remnant. It's a shame the remaster is on everything except Xbox.

Oh man, Sacred 2!!! Is Blind Guardian still in it? \m/

Gothic Remaster looking incredible.

Darksiders lost me after the first one. Everything they've done between the end of 1 and now has been a total waste of time and they lost me as a fan. Looks like maybe they're finally making what Darksiders 2 should have been, wonder if there's any hype left for it. It's Gunfire though, so I might have to play it just to get a fix before they hopefully give us Remnant 3 someday.

With folks building digital libraries, its harder to get folks to 'jump ship'. Xbox likely knew folks wont walk away from a library of games they've built over two generations and brought games to the eco system those players are in.

Last gen, yes. This gen Xbox players were encouraged to stop buying games in favor of renting on game pass. We don't have libraries anymore. They even stopped giving us the dogs*** games with Games With Gold. It's going to be ridiculously easy for most of us to ditch Xbox next gen. Hell, chances are the next Xbox won't even support the vast majority of my Xbox library, which are enough Xbox and 360 games to fill up several 27 gallon totes.

Microsoft has done everything they could this gen to make it easy as hell to 'jump ship.'

Re: Square Enix Announces Two Brand-New RPGs For Xbox Series X|S

I loved the first Octopath but still haven't gotten around to the second, ugh. Now I'm going to be 2 games behind. Just seeing Tressa in this trailer has me all nostalgia'd up and wanting to play this.

The other one looks great too, looking a little like Bravely Default (yet another game which I played the first but not the second).

Re: Talking Point: So, What Other PS5 Games Do You Want To See Come To Xbox?

Jenkinss

@TrollOfWar I don't doubt it, if MS reached out to them as I said, it would make sense that they negotiated terms. It wouldnt surprise me at all if they gave Sony a sweetheart deal, and Sony would have zero reason to not take it if their games can be played on the hardware anyway. They put their games on EGS for the same reason, games don't sell in meaningful numbers there, but the cut is enticing.

Re: Talking Point: So, What Other PS5 Games Do You Want To See Come To Xbox?

This is premature to what I thought would happen, which is the next gen "Xbox" having steam, and therefore having all the PlayStation games anyway. If that truly is MS's intention then they may have already told Sony privately, who is jumping the gun since they will have no choice but to support the next "Xbox" or stop putting their games on Steam. I've been saying that would happen for a long time, arguing with the people who think Sony could block an Xbox running Steam from playing their games (they can't). But I did not expect movement so soon

Re: Talking Point: Would Halo Infinite Have Been A Bigger Success Using Unreal Engine 5?

Jenkinss

It would have absolutely, unquestioningly have been a bigger success. The game was a huge hit at launch with the media and gamers. The game died because they couldnt create more content for it. An engine everyone knows would have helped immensely. It might have actually launched on time, too.

There's a lot of people, commenters here included, rewriting history with idiotic narratives. Halo infinite was not a bad game. Halo infinite was not a good game. Halo infinite was a GREAT game, according to both the games media and players. It won the doritopope award show players choice award. It was after the game got no meaningful updates for a like a damn year that sentiment turned.

Finishing up Oblivion stuff. I never do more than 1 guild during the actual playthrough of a Bethesda game because it's not just immersion breaking, it's just stupid. But now that I've finished the game and shivering isles, I'm polishing off the fighters, thieves, and dark brotherhood stories. Sort of "non canon" for my playthrough.
